london based welshman chamboche returns to the label that launched him with the smoke screen ep. his unquantifiable sound swerves genre classification, hovering around house but with enough musicality to please the hardened disco head. swirling pads and a bubbling bass line set down the groove, while keys fall around horns and vocals to make the lead track a refined, uplifting work out. slowly unfolding, the track is hypnotic and absorbing, showcasing the style of a producer as able to work the mind as the hips. bicep toughen up the drums and work the arpeggio, stripping down the track and bringing the chicago influence higher in the mix. while the original subtly unfolds, their remix demands attention from the outset, building to a climax then recoiling for another bite at the cherry. thinking big, krl ramps up the intensity with a bright, kinetic reworking. aimed squarely at the peak time, he harnesses all of smoke screen’s most propulsive elements to really work the floor. tucked away on the b side is the expansive mind your mind. trademark chamboche percussion is woven around a blissful riff, swelling majestically to round off the ep in slo(w) burning euphoria.

after quite some time now, and after super successful kinks debut, weve got burek number two. this time, burek is excited to present a young japanese musician takaaki shibuya humandrone. takaaki says hes obsessed with hardware and old school sounds, citing blake baxter, mantronix and carl craig as his main influences stating he finds his own music to sound like science-fictional street music, and on his first edition on burek we have a treat of four stylistically different house tracks common in their characteristic acid sound from which he draws his inspiration. stay raw with us and dance!

theres 8 million stories in the city & if you are in the know, theres a refreshing movement of bodies several stories above the manhattan street bars & clubs in secret lofts & apartments. one of these re-occurring parties & djs providing the backbone sound is sid vaga of rolands six degrees parties. after over 10 years of heavy dancefloor smashing, he gets in the studio to make some of his own sounds. side a is his original latin brazilian house signature sound filled with percussion, funky bass & the straight driving backbeats for a good party starter. side b goes a notch deeper & heavier as d*sol from paris remixes with additional electronics & moodier sounds to balance the 12 inch for early & late-night dance-floors.

obviously, extrawelt are currently on the roll of their lives. with their second album in aufruhr from last november being still on everyones lips, the two hamburg residents and excessive live performers arne schaffhausen and wayan raabe deliver another encore. i dont know about other musicians, but we have the constant urge to make music.
