rezkars fascination with music began with his parents record collection. listening to local radio stations as a child, he heard 80s tracks. as an adult he discovered the magic of 60s and 70s jazz and funk. one day, his cousin played a track that he immediately fell in love with. he later learned that this was house music. he discovered the fruity loops sequencer software and thought, why not try to make my own tracks, after all, it cant really be that hard? deep house can sound deceptively simple. its a bit like japanese anime, rezkar says. it looks so cute and easy to draw, but try to actually draw it, and you will discover its even harder than realistic drawings. the thing about house is that if you try too hard it can come across as being very cheesy, but then again, if you dont do enough it can sound incomplete. finding the balance is not easy, rezkar admits. after hearing his music, one finds that he is learning this lesson quite well.

the debut record of ritmolider kaleidoscope is a traditional studio work with live performance and classic analog sound. being in the era of nu disco and re edits the author has tried to find his own way of making music based on traditional methods of performance. and hes got a beautiful symbiosis of instrumental improvisations and electronic melodiousness. at the begining of the record theres a superb remix by the beat broker - deep, groovy synth disco, highly recomended for dancefloor! the second track is a journey into obscure psychedelic funk with lots of improvisations and atmospheric tunes....a pity so sweet percussions are added so late. b2 tonight at the discotheque will carry you away by the real soviet disco vibe. a beautiful arp solo softly flowing through amazing effects and acoustic drums focused on free played funky basslines. the original version of kaleidoscope is also a very interesting one. a mood of this composition is changed all the time. the first seconds of the track you hear a tender melodic solo which makes you feel calm and relaxed, then you get the groove coming from an agressive arpeggio and dinamic percussion. soon this feeling gets interrupted with a sudden slap bass impromtu playing together with a synthy accompaniment, and it turns into another feeling, and so on... this really reminds of kaleidoscope effect!

ELECTRIC ARGUMENTS (2X12 INCH LP)
2x12 Inch
23.12.08
electric arguments is the first fireman album in 10 years, and this song based album couldnt be more different than its predecessors. for those who dont know by now, the fireman is a collaborative project between music icon paul mccartney and revered producer youth. the pair first worked together in the 90s when they made two ambient dance albums. originally the firemans identity was anonymous and was eventually revealed by the press as being paul and youth. in september it was announced that the fireman would this year release their first brand new material in a decade and this time there was a big difference - the duo had found their voice. speculation began, one studio insider was reported as saying the new songs sounds like arcade fire meets led zeppelin. certainly so far, anyone who has already heard the album has commented on just how accessible electric arguments is, compared to the first two fireman albums. this album is an eclectic and diverse collection of songs that show paul is still interested in pure musical possibilities. each track was written and recorded in the space of one day. the fireman went into the studio with no plan or clear direction of how they wanted the album to sound. the project took a life of its own and the results will surprise anyone expecting to hear the previous sound of the band.

he superb disco deviance crew continue to impress with their amazing re-edit series !! editors for this release are well known electrofunkateers from up north, bc, who definitely know their disco boogie. having been re-edited themselves on the redux imprint by legendary electrofunk don greg wilson on a track called >hardcore boogie<, they then went on to release the highly praised >konked out< and >missy done a pil< edits on the same imprint. on this, their first release for disco deviance, they continue their habit of not only re-editing, but also mashing and over-dubbing their cuts with their own played sounds to make an amazing blend of discoid bliss thats perfect for both djs and dancefloors. the opening cut >magnificent disco< is a wonderful mix of elements (both sampled and played) taken from their beloved konk, the clash and kool and the gang which are worked into a sublime disco work out. while on the flip its aretha franklins >jump to it< which gets reworked and extended into a hip disco joint that has echoes of atlantic conveyors crossover classic >we are<. enjoy the music

rooted deep in a high-rising part of buenos aires, retiro, and in his temporary home of choice, berlin, two of the craziest and most vibrant music cities, dilo is known for his eclectic and exquisite taste in audio. his productions that sound like crystalline experimental upbeat hophop techno drones with a loopy undertone of clicky random shuffle murkiness are, quite simply put, some of the most marvelous releases around
classic cut from the two old hands ! a level non zero release with the catalogue number 23 who woudnt expect a conspirational track? and indeed: after legendary release >futher & further< (lnz05) the secret house society leaders pascal feos & heiko mso (klang elektronik / playhouse) once again met for a conspirational studio session to dominate the clubbing world with an extraordinary production. the result is named luv and sounds like the essence of the essence of minimal house music neatly stretched out to 11 minutes running time. cladestinely theyve implemented classical chicago jack elements in a modern lunar probe to irridate mother earth with an eternal stream of love. adequate gravitation-free the sound comes across as a gauze of warm bassy clouds, funky finger clicks, sustain violin strings and paradisiac luv female vocals. after a long ethereal break the track speeds up again smoothly and reveals a subtile glowing sound of the tb-303. luv is the perfect example of rarely produced tracks that give you the feeling of oustanding full-embracement

der thal is been playing all over germany and hes been trying to build up his own sound and skills. after making a great remix of reynolds track >craft< on trenton 027 he is now giving us 3 great tracks for a full maxi. mentona ep is a bit of a journey into what trenton use to be about at the very beginning with a techno that is very close to the old school detroit vibe
in der thals music there are a lot of melodic sounds and tough tight beats to keep us on the ground. >mentona< and >maszo< are floating on air with strings and synth lines when >puston< reminds us more of some >tejada< grooves! a great ep anyway from der thal who is definitely on the way to become one of these great young gifted producers that care about music mainly.

since their first releases on circus company and milnormodern the 3 mousketeers achieve to impose themsleves on the scene with their unik touch. the band is clement zemtsov on beat programing, damien vandesande on keyboards and horns at last but not least, jonathan illel is warmly laying the lyrics. after having produced hip-hop instrumental for a few years they got into house music after meeting nicolas from nôze. one year and a half later they come up with between the blues ep, a brilliant first ep on circus company. then the guys several eps on other labels like orac or eklo. they also start touring a lot across europe and eastern countries. this new record is called blanche neige (snow white) as the lead track of the ep. all the lyrics from it are taken from the original text written by jacob & whilelm grimm back in 1812. .blanche neige is declined in two different versions. on the a side comes the original mix is the dancefoor cut. slower house beat, solid groove, surround by a marvelous chior. while the break show upreading the first lines of snow white in french. let me just tell you that when the break is over you should fasten your seat belt before a nice take off
the first track on b side is romeo. this track was produced by dop and nôze. once again all the lyrics are taken from a book. here its from .romeo and juliet written by william shackespeare. this track perfectly represent the alliance of both bands. the unik saxophone skills from damien vandesande the one man horn section, a wonderfull piano ride by nôze and the sexy voice of jonathan illel. an acoustic house blaster ! the ep is finaly closing down on b2 with the pop version of blanche neige called >kinder cut. there comes the deepness

ruede hagelsteins the modest theme has proven to be one of souvenirs most provocative releases so far. released in the summer, the tracks dramatic horn hook is so epic it belongs in a science fiction film and as a piece of forward thinking techno, it ranks among one of souvenirs best. now the track is back with a remix from souvenir spearheads tiefschwarz alongside a new track from berlin based ruede. semikolon is another dark and dubby deep tech-housy outing for ruede that begins with a dramatic spoken word by naneci and ominous organ stabs. as the track progresses it takes on a chicago house vibe re-imagined at 10am in the panorama bar. an urgent bell begins to ring through the track raising the tension as the vocal intones a surreal chant before giving way to huge synth stabs that lead the track into a slow motion emotional explosion. just when things can get any more hectic the crescendo sinks to silence compressing the energy before the beats emerge back in their earlier deep house guise. ali and bast schwarz take their turn at remixing the modest theme fresh from their incendiary remix of emad kamandians kamanche for souvenir 012. the signature dramatic horn riff remains albeit injected with new percussion lending the track a tough tech house appeal that places it within the context of 2008s underground house sound. both tracks are another addition to souvenirs impressive collection of music aimed at the head just as much as they are at the heart and feet.
GROOVEBOX EP
12 Inch
15.12.08
groovebox ep is filled with some class a material for the raunchy dancefloor. first up there is into the club. this track is typical for channel x: it will blow off the roof in the club! as the title of the track already suggests, this is another one of channel xs lengthy journeys into nightlife extravaganzas. a wonderful fidgety bassline and a loop filled with loads of soulful vocal samples from strong male leads to sensitive female souls, this tune is both deep, touchful and destroying. the chainsaw effect session in the middle paves the way for more stomping tech-house business. no time to recover from this, because on the flip its straight onto the floor with wake up: a loop thats made of trillions of little cut-up effects, vocal bits and some straight four to the floor business. after a playful beginning the tune moves into an hypnotic piece of trippy techno only to be converted into a restless party anthem for the Überpeak-time. sick! perhaps there is some time to chill with the last of the three tracks that is against the wall. here it becomes clear what channel x are best at: to create dark, hard and moving electronic music with that special ingredient that is soul. this track is a perfect example: some frightening effects, lots of reverb on the creepy samples, but such a wonderfully harmonic sample that seems to shed light at the end of the never-ending afterhour. if there is a message to this music, it would be: you need to look hard, but there is always love. once again label boss oliver koletzki has picked up these two very talented producers very early upon their career and it has paid off: in one release being better than the one before

shafunkers are the manchester based production duo alex mcculloch and austin moore. after a random meeting at salford university in 1997, they quickly realised a shared passion for music production and they began their musical partnership by creating drum n bass and breakbeat tunes under the guise of sinewave. both classically trained musicians with influences ranging from jazz to the beatles, the duos mutual love of dance music eventually led to them to start producing house music together. tick tock is no exception to their remarkable quality, in fact alex has described it as some of their hottest work to date. a catchy, melodic hook floats effortlessly over quirky electronic percussion. remixed by danny freakazoid and ben hoo.

rinder & lewis: anger - considered one of the most abstract production teams of the disco era, this cut was taken from their >seven deadly sins< album (very rare!). never released on 12inch inch, this cut was a music box fave! not much to edit, just give it a dj friendlier drum intro. a great cut for a disco or a deep house set!mighty clouds of joy: time - one of my favorite edits! taken from their >its time< album. even thought this song was produced by dave crawford, the philly sound played a big part in it (thanks to norman harris on guitar & earl young on drums). the song was originally recorded in 2 parts, so i combined them with a little bit of dub. yes, you can give praise and boogie at the same time!
