city wasteland comes as a full cd as well as a split in two 12inches including some tracks that are vinyl-exclusives. sebastian lohse a.k.a. break sl from dresden is still quite young, but you can feel that he already defined his own universe of sounds and proper production skills. the second 12inch (city wasteland pt.2) now starts with the track move! which doesnt carry it s name for nothing - this is true-school techno! next, dirtbomb shows some nice edges and has a kinda dark feeling. hovering samples and a raw, dirty feel on the drums gives the whole track a very subtle blues. on the flip break sl enters deepest territory of detroit-influenced techno with weird dancer. the last track here tff is a vinyl-exclusive which delivers intense and acid-like drum layers ... chicago galore! thanks for purchasing a real copy!

passion sound (inner beauty) is designed to exemplify the inner passion of an individual, while maintaining the outer crust of a chicago sound. it is well true that tevo howard found it necessary for this artistic track to make it to vinyl. he has said that the tracks elegance is the perfect potion for a bgr vinyl release. while inter tribal is slower paced, and somewhat crosses bands of what one would expect to hear from the machine drums used to create it, inter tribal as a track is also meant to even out the energy of this conceptual vinyl piece as a whole. dreamers reason is simply the title track to tevo howards first full scale album, which will be released in coming months. on this particular vinyl selection, bgr 7, a bonus mix titled, (deep reason mix), is included, whereas it will not be included on the full scale album.

dave huismans aka 2562 with his a made up sound project. archive contains four raw house tracks from the vaults with their roots in detroit and chicago house. æbounceÆ and ædisconnectÆ combine the best of two worlds: the more traditional sample based house grooves and the spacious sounds and wrenching sub bass that have become his trademark. the same goes for the other two tracks... æwireÆ is a phat acid track with a great drive. a strange atmosphere and a unique combination of classic structures with new and old sounds. this track will make sure that the sweat is dripping off those basement walls! æon&onÆ has that catchy drunken beat slightly reminding of some theo parrish productions... finished with futuristic technoid synth stabs and pulsating acid-ish bass sounds that make this a great abstract & stripped-down house work out! killer!

joss moog drops his 1st solo ep on minority after having successful previous outings on robsoul. fat mamma is a jacked up chicago track that will be doing the rounds with the likes of derrick carter & mark farina. rhodes trip is armed with deep chords and slick beats and is reminiscent of room 25. everything inside has all the right ingredients to kick start a party, tough beats, smooth vocal stabs and a killer bass line. joss finishes the ep off in style with a big jazz bass line, groovy keys and a hypnotic sax that would work the dance floor at any time of the night.

rebolledo is an artist from xalapa, mexico, who is very much part of the comeme family of latin american artists. he s been around from the early days when he used to provide music for the buenos aires based bumbumbox street parties. so far he s had tracks on previous comeme releases, notably pitaya frenesi, but this is his first full release on his own. rebodello is the consummate comeme artist, with a quirky sense of humour, a unique latin american approach to dance music and a lean lo-fi approach to track making that is built to cut through on any sound system. lead track >guerrero< follows in comemes now established strange sense of humour, guerrero means warrrior and is a track about a >guerrero< who comes out at night and dresses in leather, it s all shouted vocals simple beats and 80s style synths. venganza y seduccion means vengeance and seduction and features suggestive panted echoing vocals over a cosmic disco bassline, while atmospheric chords build in the background, if this sounds strange it s because it is, but the combination works really well in a club.
the b side of the record is much harder and more techno-like - marchante is completely different, aggressive kick drums, a pulsing bassline and siren-like synths bring this track a panicked feel, which is offset by the way the drums build into tough patterns. raid features strange nonsense vocals over a pulsing rhythm track that reminds of old chicago acid, if it wasn t for the strange atmosphere. rebodello is a very welcome addition to the world of dance music.
