nile delta is dancefloor wizard joel dickson, former member of riot in belgium and current member of cutters dynamic-duo, voltage. having spent the past year neck-deep in other peoples music – it was only a matter of time before this, nile deltas debut ep emerged, shimmering, from the water. channel sounds like a late 70s house party. except the house is actually a warehouse and the late 70s are actually the early 90s. an almost paradoxical blend of filtered piano stabs, party whistles, endless delays, a squelching acid lead, horns, bendy-breakdowns, you name it. channel sounds like moodymann at his rawkus best. no party will be complete without this house gem. all this on the flip, sees cut copy bassist ben browning provide an otherworldly vocal hook over nile deltas inescapable rhythm. and the crawling baseline will have your hips doing obscene things. guaranteed. remixes include longtime favourites chicken lips, who take their invincible track record on an italian holiday – and tornado wallace who takes us deep, deep into the night.

>les patates<, the fresh new rrygular release by tassilo, one half of pan-pot, is not an homage to french agriculture but a serious techno smasher with high club potential. at first, theres just a nice party atmosphere and … then this rough beat drops in! the small potatoe >petite patate< surprises by adding rudimental elements like the hihat and snare drum always a little late. but you have the feeling you havent missed something yet. this number just sneaks from behind and lulls you in with billowing pads until you sense the final rave sound as a self-evident consequence of it all. the message by g-tech right before the drop proves right - there is not a lack of vibration here! its all about the mixture … and in this case its just felicitous: male choir, clanking cymbals and finally the riff that this track subsists on. tassilo knows how to send the short melody-figure through the different stages of sound design, even though it might have been lively enough without it. this gives the big potatoe >grosse patate< a level of dynamic, that most contemporary techno releases just dont provide.

kelley stoltz, now a veritable godfather to the burgeoning san francisco under/over-ground (folks like thee oh sees, sonny & the sunsets, the fresh & onlys), has blazed a path since the late 90s as a home-recording guru and multi-instrumentalist. and, while stoltzs nigh-religious reverence for all things beatles, beach boys and kinks has been at the fore on recent albums below the branches, sub pop) and circular sounds, sub pop), his new album, to dreamers, blends a bit more post-punk abandon into its layered everyman pop. this new album maintains the kaleidoscopic core of sounds heard on kelleys previous records, while making inroads into new sonic terrains.

after five years of experimenting with a string of different singers, chromatics introduced ruth radelet as the lead actress to star in their films in 2005. forever standing out from the crowd, chromatics imagined the soft rock focus of hall & oates stretched over a fleetwood mac beat. trading the dancefloor for gorgeous chords & melancholic strings. they lived where it was always late & neon lights glimmered across the wet streets. this record archives studio work between 2004 & 2006 leading up to the now infamous >night drive< album.

hot on the heels of the recent greg wilson/ray mang edits paper recordings have enlisted the remixes talents of two further hot acts in the form of faze action and brennan green.
first up we have faze actions re-edit of >drop your weapon<, a rolling and bouncing slice of funk laden modern disco that uses the distinctive guitar licks from the original and drops layers of bass, pads and drums to create an instant anthem!
on the flip we have the superb brennan green who takes >3 play it cool< and develops it into a loopy and percussive deep house masterclass, using subtle melodies and taut yet organic sounding drums. this is perfect late night tackle and provides a perfect counterpart to the upbeat disco stylings of the a side, wonderful stuff.

the 2nd sampler opens with >mym 230 (rip)<, a track taken from his planet e debut release from 1998. it also features one of his biggest tracks to date, >cant take it< which was the debut recording of soul vocalist dwele. >antares< and >crosswtown< are two tracks take from the artists personal vault. tracks which were recorded back in the day, but remained unreleased ... until now! with this compilation we celebrate reclooses early works from the late 90s, early 00s. this material is often regarded as his best. the compilation includes his best music from that period, both released and unreleased.

ninja tune records have kindly allowed aus music to release some of sideshows deep, intensely dubbed-out interpretations of the latest fink album sort of revolution, the critically acclaimed international singer-songwriters third album for the legendary stable. on the vinyl we have the two sideshow rubs of the albums lead singles. sort of dubolution (a dub of the albums title track), comes as a classic sideshow live dub epic, drenched in fink?s signature vocals alongside an earth-moving bass line. follower dub it all (an edit of finkssee it all) is a stabbier, angular take on the original reminiscent of scubas recent late-night masterpieces.

tejada and humphrey made their debut together late in 09 with their >marooned ep<. >assimilation< continues the theme of being marooned in los angeles. the four works compiled here are the result of the best moments out of 20 recording sessions. the music is for the most part assembled with analog instruments with humphrey and tejada bringing their modular gear together for the sessions. humphreys knowledge of synths and programming is quite extensive. he until recently helped operate la based big city music, a dealer of modular and boutique synthesizers.

las wax returns with a tight two-tracker of deep techno-house couresy of japans takayuki higo. this is definitely a departure from the typical wax sound, but this record still works nicely. a-side >big head house< has a dope minimal detroit feel to it and fits nicely with some of the recent techy output on wave. flip for >wicked tokyo< which is a blissfuldeep tech excursion for the late night sets. if you like francois ks techno side and jeff mills going deep, you will dig this newie.

super limited 12 inch in screen printed sleeve with bing ji ling and barck+prommer remixes ... limited to just 300 copies, pressed on delicious 180 gram vinyl and presented in a silk-screen printed sleeve, >make you mine< is quite the 12 inch to get your hands on this autumn! the opening track of incarnations forthcoming debut album >with all due respect< is a sundrenched balearic bomb if ever there was one. handsome threesome daniel collas, quinn luke (akabing ji ling) and bart davenport soaked up all the good vibes of the tarifa studio on the south-coast of spain, just in front of africa, where the mediterranean sea and the atlantic ocean meet, and transformed them into little over three-and-a-half minutes of pure loving goodness, reminiscent of the 70s west coast sounds among many other things. on remix duties we have christian prommer and alex >jazzanova< barck taking the track into the late night territory with an epic deep-house stormer, while bing ji ling makes those lazy sofa surfers get up and boogie while the sun is setting with a strong ny flavour.

steve laviers motivators collective return with their second release on the excellent here and now recordings! following on from the success of the first 12 (which included jobu being licensed to the legendary jazz bizniz compilation series and a remix by reverso 68) these new tracks continue in the vein of raw, live, polyrhythmic grooves. on the a-side, boosters on is a driving energy-packed track with the former manu dibango rhythm section of noel ekwabi and conti bilong being impressively complemented by yam whos des morgan on congas and bongos. keys are provided by afrika mhkinse (who played with the late great miriam makeba) and faze actions multi-talented rob lee. trombone is laid down by tony trombony hayden who has played with numerous acts including quantic soul orchestra. last but by no means least, vocals come courtesy of hannah khemoh who has most recently been touring as backing vocalist for the incomparable grace jones! on the flip, r2 is a laid-back improvised afro-jazz session, with the musicians laying down some serious feel-good sounds. all this produced by rob lee in the faze action studio.

frank is back on geopark, after his succesful release on geo002 his follow up is a perfect deep late summer release. it comes around with a smooth deep melodic track on side a called >dub i.o.s.<. the flipside is a pumping mover called >primezone< support by: pascal feos, d.diggler, matt star, tim green, anthony collins, daniel sanchez, xpansul, die haustiere, martin woerner, sophie nixdorf, locke aka dermaptera, sebastian altstadt, robert drewek, etc.

lee holman strikes us down with some seriously deep rooted techno, bombarding us with elements of gabriel and curtin cutting into the mixes.
the first track on the ep is seek, straight forward hypnotic dance floor business elevated by shaking percussion and vocal stab. search hits us straight away with deep detroit feelings shivering and unwinding as the track progresss, you get to see why lee has released on labels such as ferox, fine art and voorns nightvision imprint. found has to be highlighted as one of the must haves on the ep taking us on a journey right from the off. beautifully layered pads mixed with a tight and funked up bass line. berlins mike dehnert hits in with his signature sound of deep late night bass heavy groovin techno, twinkling and making every bone in the body jive to the off beat, a serious ep with serious intention.
