the raw ten is a collaboration between pittsburgh track authority and nic offer of !!!. *funny thing* is the first release by raw ten, a brand new collaboration uniting pittsburgh and new york city for maximum dancefloor devastation. following the path laid down by inner city so many years ago, *funny thing* is a vocal techno beast ready to do damage in the sets of deejays from deep underground all the way up to more mainstream. everyone will be vibing together in dance thanks to the soulful vocals of lou tanning alongside classic techno chords, but with banging drums and production values that could only come from today. in case the original wasnt enough, detroits church boy lou was enlisted for the remix, and it is a dubbed out jacking monster itself. jams as distinctive as these deserve to be treated right, so each one gets a full side 45 rpm cut from one of americas best dance music mastering engineers, dietrich shoenemann. the original full-color sleeve artwork is done by up-and-coming pittsburgh artist julie mallis.

not content with a rich back catalogue of releases under a plethora of monikers such as dabrye, jtc and charles manier spanning multiple genres on labels such as ghostly and rephlex to name a few, 2014 seemed like the right time to create an imprint with the aim of releasing the rich flood of music that flows forth from tadd mullinix.

outboxx return to brstl two years on from their first release on the label, tougher and more dance floor focused. although primarily known for deeper house sounds for labels such as futureboogie, they have never been afraid to experiment as exemplified on their debut lp for idle hands. here they turn their attention to deep techno, with two stripped back cuts that retain the warmth of their other productions. sequential circles drills down on a singular, angular riff whilst neatly deployed percusiion hits at just the right moments. moon loop whirls round on a deep spacey groove in keeping with its title. another strong release from the bristol focused brstl label.

two of the uks finest underground labels join forces and share their talent on this killer 12inch. from iib we have coyote s sin distracciounes, an upbeat sunkissed dancefloor meditation featuring the blissed out flamenco guitar of long time collaborator saro tribastone. futurboogies christophe remixes and chops up the guitar and adds some gypsymenesque organ stabs and layers of keys. futureboogies felix dickinson and jamie read drop the funky guitar heavy restless people. sublime chugging beats and a beautiful vocal refrain imploring slow it down creating a laidback house monster. iibs max essa puts his remix right in the middle of the dancefloor with straight up house vibes and extra percussion.

no stranger to the connaisseurs, binh delivers his tight debut on time passages. from peaktime to the later moments, you will find just the right berlin way of setting a great evening.

known for his past releases on nation, l.i.e.s, and cititrax, chicagos beau wanzer delivers a 12 track lp of archival material culled from tapes stored away from years past, the tracks in question being plucked between 2002-2008. wanzer has stuck to his grotesque guns over the years, keeping his music personal, grating, and down right bizarre. each track takes a narrative of its own, from the languidly vocaled, yet uncannily catchy *mob boss* to the possessed murmurs of *love tone*, wanzer has created a completely unique collection of music which engages the listener all the way through.

the original, with a well-constructed bassline incorporates a warm up melody that begins to set the tone for the night ahead. each layer is distinct as the track begins to build itself right to its crescendo when each of those individual layers collectively come together. you can distinctly hear the 80 s like synths that are cleverly inserted into the track which are highlighted by the female vocal samples. the grittier elements add a touch of darkness and instantly transport you to a warehouse club with an intimate atmosphere. the remix, done by the widely loved tech-house duo pleasurekraft jack up the tempo a notch, and add a bouncy groove to the track. where the original brought out a darker side, the remix is more upbeat and settles in well for a peak hour set. bringing that crisp bassline to the fore, and tuning out the melodies to make them a tad subtler it showcases a more tech-house version of the original. there s an added element a slightly more haunted vibe which is coupled together with those gritty and harder elements. all i can conclude is what a tech-house bomb this is from the highly talented pleasurekraft. they always manage to bring something new and unique to every single track they ve ever remixed which truly shows their remarkability as consistently good producers.

the black key team step up once again, this time with the third in their limited, vinyl-only series, with freerotation resident and established producer, tom ellis, delivering 4 sublime tracks of subtle and hypnotic house music, in the form of the simply titled -limited volume 3-. now undoubtedly an established and respected label, brighton (uk) based black key records are approaching their third year in the business, having released records from the likes of blm, iron curtis, pawas, flori and ugly drums, all of which have gained attention for all the right reasons. here, tom ellis delivers an excellent and intelligent ep, with all 4 tracks displaying the talent this man posses for creating a unique and instantly likeable take on deep house music... the right kind. there is no question that this limited release will appeal to the real heads among us - quality stuff. this ep is yet another statement from the black key camp, proving their worth in true style.

l 33... get acquainted as we think it is a name you will be hearing a lot more of in the future. hailing from the creative d&b hotbed that is bulgaria, l 33 has been creeping up the ranks with covert diligence and a sonic attitude that is going to take him right to the top. already enjoying big love and support from scene titans drum&bassarena, here we find him making his program debut with two scorching underground future-focused work-outs. recognise... it is time, once again, to get with the program!

a modern boogie 7 inch on unirhythm!? yep, you heard right! marcellus pittman graces the a-side of the disc on *1044 coplin* - a nice slice of mid west funk sure to appeal to all the boogie heads worldwide. on the flip we have the unirhythm debut from detroits own john cannon. john c is a veteran producer and mc, most recently featured on the j dilla album *rebirth of detroit*. no suprise there - we definitely hear some dilla on *j.c.s groove*. essential!

with their sixth release tiefenrausch keeps on delivering excellent dubtechno this time by textural being from portland. we enter the ep with an overwhelming deepness in >safe places< and sink right in. with >transmission< we walk on the thin line between house and dub. a reminiscence to the classy days of disco music combined with roughness par excellence. >descend< back again under the water surface to get drown into the dubbyness of this textural being. the ep is the first one to come with new cover artwork. we‘d like to thank cris for his outstanding artwork of tiefenrausch 1-5 and are looking forward to marvel at the next 5 releases designed by alex ketzer. all tracks mastered by salz.

last year accidental records released herbert complete, a 130- track boxset featuring herberts entire extensive back catalogue. it included rare and unreleased tracks from the mid 90s right up to the critically acclaimed bodily functions and scale albums. though this might have felt like the closing of the doors for matthew herberts house moniker, particularly with the ever forward-thinking producer having moved onto making music out of an exploding bomb, a shopping list, a club and even a pig, this thankfully is not the end for this side of the prolific composers output. following last months release of the 4-track ep part 6 comes the unsurprisingly titled part 7.

if you re going to beat em down, you need the right tools. on the label s second release, grimy trax has given you a couple hammers. the a-side, dejay cease s the fixer is straight chicago. we re talking banging 909 funk that might be found buried on a particularly unhinged ron hardy mix. a simple bass line and two notes of acid are all it takes to make the floor go wild. this is functional heat with enough atmosphere to engage the mind, body and soul. on the b-side, rising chicago son boogienite proves he s earned the hype. boy, ok is an instant classic thanks to some recognizable disco strings and a funky escalator of a bassline. the producer uses a trippy, rubberband synth which eventually turns into rhythmic, teasing vocal. the mixdown is ridiculous, especially as the lengthy track passes the halfway mark. boogie brings the bassline in and out in between beautiful ambient rhodes and a call and response male and female vocal. those strings hit again and you feel no pain.

the supremely talent william burnett makes a belated return to emotional response, and this time he s got brooklyn-based studio pal john beall in tow. those who enjoyed the duo s release on the l.i.e.s. white label series should lap up shimmer. it hits hard from the off, with -snaker charmer- delivering a velvet-clad punch to the guts. it s techno right from the top drawer, with darting electronics and drawn out pads riding a thunderous groove. the title track is impressive, too, with surging electronics and throbbing synths riding a techno-tempo groove crafted out of an old hardcore breakbeat. there s some more considered fare on offer, too, with the shimmering ambience of -hold me take me leave me- completing a superb package.

time to say goodbye.my idea behind falkplatz schallplatten was from the beginning to release 10 catalogue numbers and shut it down after. so, it took me 4 years to come to this point and it definitely feels right to do this step. in the meantime i founded a few other labels that are more heads down and where names dont matter that much.

to get things started we have a gorgeous soulful disco number, heavenly vocals, classic disco strings, brass stabs, tight baseline and the drums are pure class, tastefully extended in all the right places so as to stay as true to the original as possible, guaranteed to get your crowd dancing and singing along. on the b side we have one hell of a disco boogie funk bomb, plenty of breaks included in this stomper of a track, sharp drums, powerful vocals, funky baseline, guitar, piano, synths and some brass to boot, mix it all together and you get one hell of a party record.

geophone returns with a four track various artists ep curated by the label boss mike parker. the a side begins with new artist eastern renaissance, who delivers a melodic and acidic dreamscape in classic form. mike parker continues this science fictional atmosphere with his contribution, *night of 21 hours* with whirling analogue sequences that remind us of flying saucers and outer space. the b side moves in a harder direction with echologists buzzing and bleeping syncopations backed with heavy drum programming. the always surprising stanislav tolkachev concludes the ep with a track that pushes the boundaries, reflecting his unique interpretation of techno music.

cyber punk, poshgod, poshdoggydog. metro-zu hip hop crew affiliate, hailing from the miami cyborg world and now newly affiliated to trax couture crew. not just a producer, but artist in his own right poshgod gives his beautifully twisted view on club music which may sound familiar but listen close for the twisted glitched moments of his cyber perspective...

deepblaks left, and right arm aybee along with afrikan sciences offer up an homage to one of the greatest musical innovators of the 20th century, in miles davis. sketches of space is comprised of live jam sessions recorded over a 3 year span, and two countries . the project though named after miles classic sketches of spain is not dedicated to any of miless work specifically, but honoring his pioneering spirit from which this project drew fuel.

love or hate his infamous twitter beefs there is no denying the legendary status of this house music vanguard. with 20+ years of djing and producing under his belt, this is dj sneak s first release on exploited: a collaboration with murk (oscar g and ralph falcon). back in 2003 murk released dark beat - a track that topped the billboard dance charts and became the underground smash of the year. a few months ago we asked sneak for a remix by mail but we didn t get a reply. after 4 months he suddenly popped up in our mailbox, apologized and said that he finally had some studio time. in the end he sent through some tracks to see if we like them. the rest is history as you re probably listening to one of the tracks right now. this quirky and funky house track (a 10 minute journey) is only the tip of the ice berg though.
