the maghreban has been making dusty house music for a couple of years now and has put a few records out on his own imprint zoot and also on versatile records. some people have liked this. the maghreban found a bunch of old cassette tapes at his dads house. one said �alex july 84&#8242,,, on it. this tape was from alexandria, egypt in the summer of 1984. it had some interesting music recorded on it. the maghreban sampled a few of the tracks to make this one.

stix records is a sub-division of favorite recordings, recently launched with a first official single by taggy matcher birdy & nixon (stix033), who pleased us with two reggae-rocksteady renditions of the famous black keys. precisely specialized in the exercise of producing covers with a reggae twist, the new label presents his first album entitled *disco reggae*. many artists faithful to the stable of favorite recordings and its various sub-labels are invited for the occasion: the dynamics, blundetto, grandmagneto, 7 samurai, john milk or taggy matcher. all came and brought their respective touch to this first compilation, with among other things some of the rarest titles from their big single records� years, but also 4 new and exclusive productions. each of them delivers a great disco-reggae version of classic hits by some artists as diverse as madonna, herbie hancock, justin timberlake, the commodores, the o jays, curtis mayfield, harry nilsson or sugarhill gang. whatever the genre or the period, nothing can resist their inventiveness and creativity, to the point sometimes we confuse between originals and covers. everything is remastered and cut at carvery records (uk), known for their expertise in caribbean and disco music. the vinyl lp comes in a deluxe version, housed in an old-school tip-on jacket.

two paris legends reunite for the latest outing on the always fresh adult only label. owner chris carrier links up with his old pal dan ghenacia for this three-track ep, which includes a remix from german talent, diego krause. chris and dan last got together for adult only back in 2007, with their �tumble blur� ep and they recently hit the studio together again to roll out two super dope slices of heads-down dance floor funk. as you might expect from two highly experienced veterans, the tracks on offer are both crisp, epitomising that classic house flow with a sprinkling of contemporary flavour. the 2nd degree bounces, whirrs and chirps all over the place while the 4x4 beat keeps the energy levels high. just a sin is a more serious cut, with a solemn presence and stuttered beats together with a hushed vocals giving it a mysterious feel. unison wax bossman diego krause powers up just a sin with his remix, putting a firm emphasis on the bassline, which is strong, murky and unrelenting. a deep, dark slice of groovy house for the after-hours crew

tensnake s standard in the end (i want you to cry) release gets not one, but seven remixes. a nod to the good old remix double pack craze of the nineties, you will find them spread out over two plates. ranging from a classic tiger & woods treatment to prins thomas quirkiness via lone s happiness, two versions by shan, the timid dj oyster as well as pete herberts & dicky trisco s respectful re-arrangement, this one has it all: disco, techno, jungle (alomost!), house, cheese & chocolate!

the label run by pau roca and gon backs to disco-house! the a side features the duo michael & jackson. formed by jaime fiorito (son of the legendary dj alfredo and old crew member of phonica records) and thompson, they have pulled off a truly club bomb based on disco grooves and samples. the b side features thompson (this time solo) with soul bomb # 01, in which the red bull music academy 2010 alumni backs to unleash his passion for funk, disco and afro-latin elements into a bright track dominated by a dreamy piano. it includes two remixes by the boss of the label pau roca and the dutch edit-maker star jam master.
