made to play brings the noise with the sounds of wearhouse music and head honcho lee mortimer. lee mortimers exciting, sleazy, demented take on house has been kicking the sh*t out of dance floors and festivals the world over. this e.p is not for the faint hearted but is for those who like to rock a big crowd in a ballistic way. when jimi hendrix played not just one but both sides of it at woodstock in the 70s the place went off its tits and when he reverted back to playing the guitar it just couldnt compare and he never quite got over that. lee mortimer is currently reveling in mass support from the likes of switch, claude vonstroke, diplo and kriss akabusi who apparently likes to play these tracks as a post love ritual, naked and chanting awooga! round the camp fire he has in his bedroom. if you want to embellish the feeling of either hendrix or akabusi in the primes of their existences then get stuck into this release and youll feel like a combination of the two peaking on acid.

ffms premium label for deep & minimal sounds qualitative high above standard dance stuff is back from the summer break. traditionally lnz mastermind pascal feos himself lights the lnz release oven and adds his label cataloque with two endurance track runners. it may surprise, how airly the runner with starting number 1 floats through the colourful wood of golden october, cheered on by moogy mild hookline that strokes the drum body. from time to time the race track passes some clearings, the chilling atmosphere of pascal feos side-project aural float waves at the horizon. but then he trots on and on embraced by the feeling of runners high. with the racing number 2 the >generator child< starts athletic but thoughtful on his tom tom-dymanic soles, more and more leading into an 808-hypnotic run on black asphalt. a >generator child< speech sample trails off in the dusk and an lfo-spiralled veil of mist twirls over the head of the scared kid.

another quality dmx krew masterpiece we at turbo are longtime fans of dmx krew, so its a real honor to work with him again 6 years after his last contribution to our now defunct sub-label white leather. we dont normally trace an artists history or include much biography in our press releases, but we feel the need in this case to pay our respects to a long and brilliant career. with all the crap that gets paraded around nowadays its easy to forget who the real masters are... ed dmx is one of them. ive always held a soft spot for ed, he was one of my favorite producers in the proto-electro heyday. hearing his live version of the knight rider theme at sona (tigas club circa 96) was (believe it or not) a revelation. of all the artists id met up until then, he was the coolest, he could play synths better than anyone id ever heard, he had the balls to do vocals in his live-set but he was a sweet, softspoken, and super funny guy. for reasons ive never understood, eds pop side didnt seem to take off and for awhile things took a distinctly experimental turn... interesting stuff, but a departure

hey flavio, why are you so acid?? the just 20 years old guy is already showing lots of influence in his background! flavio diaz, young producer divided between naples and london, becomes part of the born pulsars in the techno music galaxy with amazing tracks! vitamin r and mister jetix reflect the evolution of the analytic trail groove , influenced by the minimal of detroit and the acid house of chicago before and london then, and marked by techno neapolitan school personal imprint. mister jetix is a real funky track, nominated to be a real floor killer, both in the original version that like the remix by the chairman of the house, markantonio. vitamin r is a real brand new vitamin discovered by flavio, that we wish to take at early morning to charge up and start again!

the label boss returns to his own yore imprint with another stunning solo release. these are different times indeed for andy vaz if the eps three mighty jams are indicative of where his musics heading. the a-sides over here (a glance over prime time mix) roars from the very first moment vaz unleashes its steaming, latin-tinged groove. a far cry from the techno the yore label head once issued, the tune finds vaz exploring straight up dancefloor territory with a dizzying house pulse that straight up rocks. melodies and voices rise to the surface of the dionysian broil and then just as quickly recede, leaving room for a driving bass line to gain the spotlight. the flips hurry hurry (before its too late mix) is classic deep house just as one expects on yore. a jazz-inflected strut with tilman ehrhorns sax playing, wailing over waves of rollicking piano playing and spirited vocal chants. the energy level doesnt flag for the discs final track, bygone times (nostalgia mix), which stokes a fiery house swing with its locomotive pulse, futuristic synth patterning, and high-velocity bass lines. vazs music has never sounded more impassioned and energized than it does in these three tracks and consequently, just as one might predict, different times feels like its over far too soon

once again, tuningspork records ventures away from its trademark funky house in exchange for something a little more unexpected. last summer, the label issued >free your mind< (tsextra), a baleraric groove crafted by jay haze and ricardo villalobos. now comes another non-sequitur: >comptine d un autre été: l après-midi< (tsultra), mr. tiersens piano composition reconstructed for the dancefloor by jay. french composer yann tiersen has a minimalist approach that many electronic producers could learn from. his piece (the title of which roughly means >nursery rhyme of another summer: the afternoon<) provides the basis for this melancholy track. djs addicted to hyperbolic effects plugins might hesitate to play this - but those who appreciate subtlety will be rewarded here. tiersens original composition is tastefully manipulated into a track that makes sense in a club context, yet sets itself apart from the usual techno/house fare, providing a rare introspective moment on the dancefloor. and it might be worth mentioning: if you play this track and the floor doesnt fill up with ladies, then it probably means youre djing at a gay club. (not that theres anything wrong with that!)

mark e is simply unstoppable at the moment!! this is the fourth release in about 2 months and they just keep getting better… two epic slo-mo edits on jisco it is then. those of you that might remember the >smilling / for love< 12inch, this is in a similar sort of vein. slow, chuggy, with a gradual build-up thats tantalisingly sweet! as with all jiscomusic releases, this is highly limited so grab one quick!

goodies from debra dolce is a tight collaboration generated at coco machete hq in spanish harlem, nyc and polished up by zero cash of television rocks, cologne. around the corner from coco hq is local hip hop studio ybp. we saw an opportunity to bring some new elements to a production with our man zero cash. the hook to goodies was recorded in new york then sent over to cologne for that magic television rocks touch to be put underneath...the result is debra dolce. the a-side is a pounding, bass driven number with the vocals cut up, stuttered and pitch shifted to maximum effect. hit the flip for the dolce mix and you get a deeper electro disco affair with more vocals, funk guitar rhythms, stabs and laser sounds all the while being driven by zcs up to the edge basslines. weve got the goodies for ya, let the goodies talk to ya.

americas next generation of techno producers make their droid debut on this release. dustin zahn who has reincarnated himself from the stone cold sounds of labels such as compound to the powerful yet refined style of his current releases on drumcode and mindshake turns in one hell of a dark builder. analog god starts off with a sharp rimshot / snare combination then adds just the right amount of tresor style synth menace for a viciously addictive groove that doesnt stop kicking.

these hand-picked tracks are now available on a dj-friendly 2-sided-4-tracks-vinyl-ep and let me tell you, they are well worth the extra investment. the first of the bunch starts off with big man lexys fancy girl, an ever-growing minimal techy peak-time-pusher with a hushed vocal-sample, some anaologue signal sounds and a futuristic and pumping beat. add a great distorted melody to this on the breakdown and the dancefloor will thank you for putting this on: they will go mental! after this introduction, its the newcomers mickey monzza & joseph discos turn with their equally stimulating track lonely. this is a great modern piece of pumping dub techno with a straight-forward attitude. the hi-hats on this tune are mesmerezing, the clappy snares and sirens perfectly placed and the subtle dubby and groovy melody an ideal antithesis to this hectically moving tune. simply nice! but hold on, there is more to come. on the flip there is hamburgs house impressario h.o.s.h. with his track ben johnson and whether this title is a reference to the legendary sportsman or not, its a pretty record-worthy track: wonderful little stabs and vocal sounds and a bassline so warm and groovy it makes your heart melt. then when the breakdown hits you with its long and winding signal sound, the dancefloor will already be bathing in a floor filled with sweet happiness. this is truely delicious! the two newcomers and residents at hive club in zurich animaltrainer have the honour to finish off this ep with their oily tech-house-anthem talkshow, a superb main-floor-peak-time-melody-affair.

claremont 56 sublabel with another collection of stunning disco tracks. track one is a peak into the album by jaz that will be released later this year and is a driving disco number for peak times. on the flip manchester s cosmic janes edits are not the obvious choice of tracks...but therefore much more interesthing then many of the edits combg out these days. diving into the 80s obscure pop releases we have some excellent tracks that will get the party started!!

for this seventh release samuel let someone else bring the music, and it s actually the first time since he started klap klap for a bit more then two years ago. claudio mate has really delivered something special here, and you can hear in the title what he s going for. it s classic detroit techno made for 2008. warm and rich melodies combined with funky and driving percussion. it comes in three versions that are connected but still has their own stories. should appeal to all those who appreciates things that is made with lust and passion

the latest release on rising trax is this cheeky little ep from max vangeli. three top draw tracks on show here. >crazed< starts simple yet effective and builds slowly into a big distorted guitar hook before dropping back into a very militant rhythm. >k.e.j.i< is a stripped down prog house number with a wicked groove overlaid with nice stabs and a cool hook. the final track of the ep is >i rock< which begins as a minimal house track then drops with some cool squeaks, bleeps and delayed noises. the stabs turn into a big snyth riff which can only be described as large!

is there more to life than house music? for the swedish dj/producer mikael nordgren: probably not. since 2004, he has been steadily churning out some of the best future house tunes from his studio located in stockholm. his productions have been released under many aliases including dmalicious, 12th floor and for get physical under the mighty moniker of tiger stripes. the blacker the music, the sweater the sound. a potential anecdote that fittingly could have inspired mikael when he composed the warm and supple portion of detroit fueled funk that is, blackroom entertainment. yet another presentation of his programming prowess and ability to mold and mend melodies into a sophisticated groove. especially utilizing his signature catchy drums to get the vibe going, then introducing a melodic synth stab before the track takes you away with complex variations of rhythmic lead sounds. abacus may remind listeners of his stellar mad at me ep released last fall on get physical - albeit reformed with a more analog approach. springing tones get the groove rolling before it is taken over by a cabal of sci-fi sounds, at which point a thick, modulated analog bass sound ups the overall energy. the lack of audio imagery is little if none, as the sounds invoke so many moods, feelings and sensations that only a seasoned dj and knowledgeable producer could fabricate such a convincing theme. blackroom entertainment ep again showcases mikaels ability as a formidable contributor to house music

with the electronic justice 12inch, james t. cotton and d_marc cantu saw off another thick slab of classic chicago acid. opener >1mg< is a relentless teutonic grind, tightly constructed yet engraved with enough subversive tweaks to hint at the most experimental urges of james t. cotton_s other persona, tadd mullinix. >werkin house< and >static vision< follow close behind with the brooding squelch of a 303. and if these take us deep inside the darkest warehouse, then the title track reveals the inner depths of the artists themselves. >electronic justice< may well be 2am/fm_s manifesto, a rolling vocal creeper whose laser-beam pulses ebb and flow around a synthesized mantra: >experimental vision/ this is us, who we are/ this is our religion.< fitting words to chant, shout, or whisper in the flicker of a strobe at 2am, after all..

sebastien leger continues his rampant return to form which has seen his superbly received cover of nights of the jaguar become one of the biggest tracks of the year and then to progress to the terra 2008 release to this new 2 track monster on his own mistakes music imprint. the a side is a mammoth club banger with builds and synths that just twist you inside out in a monstrous way with their incessant rhythm. the flip side is a perfect compliment being a super funky affair with nice swinging percussion and subtle synths with groovy driving sub bassline. another march upwards for sebastien. expect massive dj support

yore returns with a true dream team split ep, pairing yore label head andy vaz with sistrum manager patrice scott. vaz is up first with a beautiful slice of old-school funk and soul within a deep house formula, >back to square one< that has a whole lot more in common with isaac hayes and james brown than with juan atkins or any other techno icon. accompanied by a wah-wah guitar figure and claps, a bullet-proof bass line leads a nine-minute charge thats quickly bolstered by a slinkily swinging drum groove. creamy synth chords and blazing horns intermittently spill over the pulsating mix and then vanish, leaving space for the rhythm to intensify and the track to grow ever more euphoric (and even, towards its close, a bit acidy). a true mission into both funk and house, which again showcases vazs ultimate diversity as an outstanding producer. scott titled his second sistrum release beyond deep and the title might just as easily apply to the b-side >aztecal< where the detroit producer slathers shimmering stabs and congealing streams over a thudding kick drum and flickering percussive detail. while vazs cut draws inspiration from the timeless traditions of decades past, scotts looks towards the future when its gleaming shuttle lifts off in pursuit of distant galaxies.

if top of the range minimalism with a side order of funk included is what floats your boat then this new ep could well be just the job. the inner and outer space ep follows hot on the heels of the two well received previous releases the hokarangen space project ep and diamondtrack. innocence features the menacing vocals of lucien etori to deliver a minimalist epic, if thats possible. certainly minimalism plus menace equals one damn fine track.
