nyc s cosmic-disco-funk superheroes go head to head on this 12inch release. this is the first vinyl release from king mono (featuring little shalimar from run the jewels and jesse boykins iii) and the 3rd single from sunrise hwy (featuring amy douglas (juan maclean, kon, eli escobar etc)) after ten snake s true romance label released their first ep s last year.

ltd 2016 repress !! helsinki based common labour gives birth to its second offering on this limited vinyl only release. continuing in the same vein of quality twisted deep house, potholes unravels the mahla ep. the title track mahla gets the juices flowing with a hypnotic deep house groover. serenades head honcho roberto rodriguez takes the remix reins and works mahla into a more percussive and refined interpretation. its an honour having him on the common labour imprint. on the flip side, gambler sleazes off into b-grade italo disco spaghetti western territory. a possible soundtrack to a horror flick with kenny rogers stumbling into a truckers rest area after a messy night out. rounding off the ep, spoekhus picks up the pace and mood giving the handbag circle some ammo to shuffle their stilettos too. cementing another polished offering from this artisan label.

for the second release, the artist kaelan joins the ranks of the squad of shaw cuts with the ep ‘the silent swordsman’. equipped by his sharp stabbing weapon and a mysterious fighting technique taught by the head chief of the sun moon sect master wu himself, kaelan strikes out to hunt. not hectic but silent, so watch your back!

label head enzo siragusa returns to fuse for his first full ep since 2012 with the sanctuary ep kicking off with double dove, a hyper-kinetic slab of phunked up tech weaponry. the cavernous bass makes for a real warehouse vibe whilst silken pads lap upon the senses for an audio overload. the flipside s solo takes things into deeper realms, a tripped out vocal effect being the track focal point, custom made for early hours sessions whilst the eps vinyl only track gemini does away with any headier pretences and delves straight into the heart of things with a thumping kick and sense of purpose.

the sophomore ep by label head n conduit. the name and inspiration for the pumps ep is derived from new yorks infamous strip club, pumps. located on the border of queens and brooklyn on the english kills canal, its one of the last holdouts of seedy and unkempt brooklyn, now that the high rises and artisanal establishments have taken over. the pumps ep consists of three original tracks and a remix that are supposed to capture whats left of this through raw analog sequences and drum programming.

the two track evolutions ep sees enzo siragusa and alexkid each give us their own personal take on the infamous kilimanjaro sound. label head enzo once again fuses his junglist past with sleek tech beats on the a side in the form of desire skippy percussion imbuing the track with a real sense of funk before a monster 90s style b-line cuts through the mix to really nail the floor.

parages 009 is ojpb (known as bowly) first ep on this label, a side project oriented house and disco. the a side starts with « pénétrante », a disco house track, with classic bassline and nice chords groove. on the second track, its simoncino’s remix. the italian with a strong taste for chicago house, signed on mathematics, lies and more… he turns the track into a wild west tune with deep sounds and melodic lines keeping the groove.b side starts with a deep percussive house track, super melodic and really catchy with a detroit influence…..you got to pay your dues man. last one is a super catchy disco edit that will stay in your head and bring some dance moves that you didnt know of.

opener equilibrium two from buitendijk is a perfectly streamlined and serene bit of spaced out, hypnotic techno. gentle synth pulses roam about the airwaves, left and right, up and down, as ethereal pads glow behind. it s heady dancing music, whilst liem s contact is also perfectly aimed at both head and heel. it is full of lick synth pulses that bubble and boil as watery droplets and ticking hits also colour the most subliminal groove. closer this is all you need is a more textured, frazzled cut with frosty lines and rickety pads working you into a trance. rich drums and clever bass filtration add dynamics and tension and so like everything else here the end result is hugely captivating.
