bottin, aka william bottin makes music only an italian can make... probably. take a youth spent against a background of old italian giallo soundtracks, some john carpenter film music, add in late 70s italo disco influences, add a touch of free, some easy west coast vibe and a smattering of kitsch. that just about half describes bottin.

the disco builders is a new san francisco band produced by tal m. klein featuring the voice of hillary hightower. the bands sound celebrates the roland alpha juno 1 keyboard, a mainstay of the postorchestral disco sound.

disco fizz is the second album by italian disco group azoto. many say that azoto pioneered the whole italo sound, with incredibly ahead of their time productions going right back too 1977. disco fizz may contain one of the most covered disco tracks of all time san salvador, which has reared its head under countless of remixes and pop cover versions, however if you dig a little deeper this album is packed full of incredible and timeless italo disco. anytime or place literally jumps out the speakers to get you moving, while >exalt exalt< showcases their take on the darker side of electronic disco.

france fed records to the disco explosion right from the start. most famously, the tele music players were the chart topping, multi-million selling voyage, with the trio of chantereau, dahan and pezin joined by sauveur mallia. phenomenal production and immaculate orchestration made them perfect for the increasingly glamour obsessed disco scene. but more exciting to collectors are the long running series of library lps they worked on.

lithuanian producer paulius lincius (aka moon disco) presents his first vinyl release on the respected control tower label, run by the dexorcist & radioactive man, and shows a subtlety and deftness of touch that many more experienced producers would envy. treading the path of classic electro can be a dangerous game if the sounds arent just so, but fortunately paulius has been doing his homework and keeps it simple and clean. radioactive man offers up a remix that roughens things up a little bit and throws some datasette-esque sounds into the equation, but still keeps pretty close to the traditional electro blueprint. overall a strong release for those that prefer their beats and bass with a slightly nostalgic edge...

bombay disco is a three track vinyl release quite unusual for remote area though, which brings yet a housey feel. already played out by: loco dice, nick curly, 2000 and one and bart skils.remote area represents the current leading amsterdam underground scene, which is run by dutch pioneer 2000 and one. artists like lauhaus, boris werner, julien chaptal, david labeij and gimikk (daniel sanchez & e-contact) are part of this infamous scene.

no let up from those disco deviants ! for number seven in the series the imprint is proud to release the first set of edits by the rather excellent situation. they first came to light after passing a cd to greg wilson after a gig. he was blown away by the quality of their edits and they instantly started to feature prominently in his sets to much acclaim. then greg included one of their cuts pushin on on his recent resident advisor mix and their talents were a secret no more as the interest flooded in. that track pushin on features on this release. instantly bringing to mind classics like remember me, unfinished sympathy and back to life, it really is a wonderful piece of music which moves both the body and the soul. on the flip, they rework jazzy dees wicked electrofunk track get on up into a dj-friendly dancefloor bomb. its an amazing debut and theres much more to come on their own imprint which is launching this year. enjoy the music

croatian dj ilija rudman is one of the nu disco scenes most prolific, yet underrated producers. with releases on bear funk, rong music and deep freeze he manages to cascade the electronic disco sound with his own unique production style. counting the likes of luminaries such as greg wilson, darshan jesrani and steve kotey as fans, the ever prolific rudman drops two fine examples of quality nu disco. in motion is metro area esque electronic workout while definition is a more incessant peaktime groove.
