back again we have the mediterranean flavor of the friends affkt and alberto sola. always experimenting with different ingredients like the cooker ferran adria, the guys who laid the first stone of the legendary label barraca, now present a hybrid of pop and house which will leave no one indifferent. �pobla loves you� was born with the tuba of alberto cuartero, orchestra director of hoya gonzalo in albacete. marc and alberto (affkt and sola) wanted to have a typical instrument of a band and merged it with the electronic dance scene, always being faithful to his maxim of making music to dance as well as to listen. if we surround valencia, road to pobla de farnals, we passed through la canada. there are los updates, who upon hearing the organic rhythm of pobla and the work with the wind instruments, set to work with the voices. perfectly adapted to the capital of the turia river, jorge and loreto propose a valencian poem that their children have learned at school. the moon of valencia then join our dinner for four. finally, we add to our paella a bit of percussion and keyboards made in affkt, to get a main course and obtain a typical valencian plate but by adding a little chilean salt becomes international. more oriented to the dance floor, there are three rather different remixes. new union between spain and chile, with danny fiddo and felipe venegas. this couple present an elegant and deep remix with drums and vocals perfectly adapted to the current sound. moreover, the french man darlyn vlys re-interpreted >pobla loves you< with a lot of groove and percussion added. finally, affkt gives his funker version of events to complete a job that will come out by the german label international freakshow

the make up the break up is the first release on bruno pronsatos own thesongsays label. its the longest track in his catalog (38 minutes), and an even deeper excursion into his stylized harmony. this track was originally a track uncompleted while making, æwhy cant we be like us. revisiting it roughly a year ago, bruno began to reword it. what began as simple attempt to create an ep track out of it became a monster. what monster you ask? in a few words, the monster that is brunos love of musicality and sound design. muscially speaking, we are on a ride somewhere between a slithery house track and a drugged out night out in chelsea, new york in the 60s - and thats a good thing because we get the entirety of the ride: the ups, the downs, the clouded mentality, the broken heart and perhaps the mended one. its happy, its sad - its something that you can dance to, but most importantly, its music that we think you can revisit for many years, as it somehow reflects us, our lives. a playful and extended journey through love and disaster, or at least the soundtrack to it.

he s the man of the moment. james nidecker, rising star of the dutch technoscene, is always sure to raise an eyebrow or two. not only his djsets, where the amsterdam based artist is often getting the crowds wild with his dark gothpunklike outfits, but also his recent productions can be called mindblowing. nidecker perfectly knows how to combine his dark vocals with uplifting beats, combining influences from electro and minimal techno. s.t.a.l.k.e.r is the culmination of his talents, a hit record already wandering around the dutch clubscene for a while, now finally released on alexander koning s upstruct imprint.
the aside of this release provides a more than outstanding remix from dave ellesmere. renowned for his collaboration with producer 2000 and one under their name microfunk, but nowadays also reaching international fame under his own guise, ellesmere turns s.t.a.l.k.e.r into an ideal dj tool. with a length close to nine minutes, his mix slowly takes the funk of nidecker s rhythms to an upwinding, more techhouse based floorburner.
the other side of this ep is more about the clubs, with dutch dj producer georgio schultz and alexander koning together transforming s.t.a.l.k.e.r into a housetrack like there s no other. here, the unique vocals of nidecker are combined with more melodic, sometimes crazy sounds, always keeping the original flow of the track alive, but taking the best parts of this clubhit to a next level.

minimalplus is an underground project that started quite a while ago and it is back with a new release. on the record minimalplus give you a legendary dutch underground dj called noes. it one of those guys who was there from the beginning. for a long time he had a solid residency at the transistor nights in the south of holland where he played with almost al big techno names like, jeff mills, joey beltram, surgeon, james ruskin, johannes heil, ben sims, robert hood, steve rachmad and the list goes on. now noes launches his first release on this underground imprint. one the aside the is hd which is like the man him self a little hyper. rolling percussion with some upwards movement. rocking but also a useful dj tool. one the bside there is the shit and it is! a rocking minimalistic rave sound, freaky sequence and easy to get a crowd going.

reissue of album from 1975/a satisfying dramatics collection that includes their revised, campy version of me and mrs. jones, which had remained a staple of their live shows. astrology was riding high in the mid 70s, and (i m going by) the stars in your eyes provided fodder for astrological discussions as the guys poo poohed the differences in personality traits associated with the signs. a good balance of fast and slow tunes helps make this album a winner. good things dont come easy and never let you go are two frantic dancers that chug along faster than a speeding locomotive, while trying to get over losing you succeeds in treating losing your lover in a positive, uplifting way. the guys must have been loaded with material to keep this one off a 45. likewise for the aching, painful i cried all the way home, one of tony hesters best compositions, and easily the best ballad on the album.

jorge has been a central figure on the latin-american musical stage since the 80s-first as the co-founder of chiles beloved political rockers los prisioneros, then as a restlessly inventive solo musician and as one half of gonzálo martínez, the experimental electronic duo with dandy jack (martin schopf). now based in mexico city and working alongside loreto otero, jorge presents los updates, a new project combining electro-pop with an unusual approach to minimalist house and techno. designed both as a studio affair and a live performance, los updates expands its collaborative scope by reaching out to a crew of well-known chilean and european musicians who were central to the development of chilean techno in the mid 90s: ricardo villalobos, dandy jack, luciano and tobias freund, all of whom deliver defiantly original remixes across a series of 12-inch singles. tobias. fills the a-side with his remix of >pictures of you< simply one of the most dazzling things youll hear this year. tobias. recent string of work-singles for wagon repair and ostgut ton, as well as remixes for two armadillos and jim rivers-has shown him to be a master of the hypnotic groove, and here he entrances like never before, laying down a stark 808 drum pattern which he threads through dubby keys, analog explosions and liquid bass figures. on the b-side cadenzas luciano is getting late and brings his inimitable touch to the remix of >etting late<. luciano reworks the song into a lean, bleepy groove that marries the cool restraint of vintage dbx to lucianos own effusive style, buoyant and percussive and completely enveloping..

the legendary club u60311 in frankfurt has opened up a brand-new hotspot for minimal right in the heart of the city, going by the name of 311. paired with this, an affiliated label - dreielf recordings - has also been launched. the residents michael kohlbecker, one part of the saafi brothers, and frankfurts newcomer peter eilmes are releasing the fruits of their cooperation in their home studio, and putting an already-established scene hit onto vinyl with - tabasco. the original of the record impresses with its anthemic character, which may have been due to the fat bass-line and the striking trumpet. despite its monotony, a real jewel for every record case and just the stuff to get happiness dripping from the club ceiling. the remix by alexi delano, on the other hand, is somewhat deeper and more melodic at the same time, but still contains all the ingredients necessary for a proper shot of tabasco. sonic monogamy or fat kick basses make this remix unique. the dominant trumpet and the scraping percussion of the berliner andre crom make this remix an absolute guarantee of ecstasy. tabasco is hot and burns like hell!

although only 23 years of age englishmen cris barratt is already considered one of the hottest new producers on the block. what makes him really special is his unique blend of sounds, which is not melodic house, minimal, tribal, rock electro or techno, but at the same time it is all of that. two tracks on this ep are the best reflection of chris >get maximal< approach: he builds the story slowly, upgrades the basic theme bit by bit, then weaves in another leading theme and spices the blend with unexpected small but effective element from the late 90s. the result of this blending is very rich, warm sound, perfect for the parties somewhere at the seaside. re-release

a very special compost release with two very rare tracks! the a-side features a great remix of beanfields >tides< with amazing vocals from bajka - of course its not quite up there with the unbelievable carl craig mix but then that would be an uphill struggle. ripperton from the lazy fat people adds his moody, deep slant to the track, less anthemic than carl craig but a more than welcome alternative. this mix was available for a short time as bootleg with ricardo villaloboss remix of depeche modes >sinner in me< on the flip and sold out quickly despite the poor sound quality. finally, one year later, this great tune sees it official release completely remasterd in chrystal clear sound - get it, play it, love it! in 2006 the duo tom wieland and marc frank - better known as 7 samurai - crafted a fine remix of invisible sessions under their panoptikum moniker. when michael reinboth considered this remix for his new future sounds of jazz compilation the guys decided to contribute even a little bit more: an excusive new version which became a definitely highlight of the whole compilation. the panoptikum 2007 remix surprisingly takes a leaf out of innervisions book for a smooth deep houser with a slighty techy sound and a touch of detroit in the vein of Âme or henrik schwarz. in contrast to the vocal version included on fsoj this 12inch features the trippy instrumental version. ace stuff! two must have tracks - all killer, no filler!
