field records welcomes a new name into the fold with its next ep. that name is kiyoko, and it pertains to the uk duo of jack lever and joe mcbride. after albums and eps on auxiliary and samurai horo, they now offer up four more ambient electronic cuts that again suspend you in a blissful sonic world.

spunoff opens the first door of a new french vinyl label, stratos rec, with his portal ep. this label bring us into an artistic travel between techno to ambient, experimental music and art. it aims at being a little different, inviting at each release a guest who is totally free to do an edit of the originals tracks as he want, and a part of the artwork of the vinyl. we want to confront different styles and brains and let�s see what happens.
for the str001, the young parisian, spunoff, give us three powerful, dark & energetic techno tracks. the guest is above all a visual artist. but also a dj & producer. brother of the famous richie hawtin, matthew takes parts of different originals tracks and constitute a eight minutes ambient & experimental edit. definitly an interesting work add to this ep who take you out of yourself. the label design have been done by a french artist & photographer, david souenellen. matthew hawtin draws up the b-side visual.

new uk based imprint aiming to bring you atmospheric and emotional treats that toe the line between bass heavy, electro leaning, house & techno and everything in between. the label�s first outing comes from the duo thread. tabor kicks of the release and it�s a motorik workout that combines elements of minimal techno and acid, with a squelchy bassline and moody synth melodies all carried along by tight percussions. dalling is a straight up electro jam, a galloping start/stop percussive pattern, ever-present pads with more layers of squelch added for maximum effect. on the flip brackenbury picks up a couple of notches on the bpm counter - driving proceedings to 130+, a proper heads down techy number with elements of micro house, filled with quirky sounds and lush pads layered on top of syncopated percussive patterns. the final cut on the ep conningham does away with all pretences and hits you in the face with another dose of unrelenting space music. heavy bass line, crunchy electro percussions and sci-fi atmospheric pads rounding off the first release in style.

days of being wild continues their collaboration with berlin based french producer franz matthews, releasing his first solo ep, the spacey, cosmic ostkreuz. half of the duo languages, whose 1st ep the label released at the end of last year, franz matthews explores a very different sound on his first solo effort, all space disco, retro synths and funky guitars out. title track ostkreuz has been road tested by the days of being wild crew on dance floors all around europe all of last year and has created euphoria and anticipation in equal measure. this is a cosmic hit from outer space, all constructed around well known ingredients that thanks to franz matthews musical and melodic talent rise here to epic heights. the b-side guns of rixdorf is another devastating peak time tune. while remaining in the same vein as ostkreuz, it feels more high energy with its irresistible funky guitars calling and responding over a driving bass. days of being wild always try to pair producers with remixers that will shed a new light on their work. its no exception with ostkreuz, who gets the reinvention treatment from no other than moscoman and rodion aka the claydermans. the cosmic vibe is still here hovering on top in the opening chords of the remix, but soon enough a sub, housier bass makes its way in the mix and wont let you go until the end. carried by shuffling claps and a bouncier beat, the groove here is totally re-invented, taking ostkreuz from peak time to the darker edges of after land.

braindance records, giving the morning calm a second chance. having only appeared for a few live sets mainly dedicating himself to production, go dam, is a silent actor for the change in seoul s music scene. with a diverse spectrum of influences and genuine love for alternative electronic music, we are given a unique identity portrayed through his sound. the �alternate dimensions e.p�, first output of the label, opens the doors to another dimension comprising of electro infused melodies. reminiscent of the mid-late 90�s uk intelligent techno-electro sounds it also combines heavy detroit influences with a peculiar sonority that will invoke you into the story within the alternative soundscape.

taking charge of the first release is lucy, who has evolved his distinct sound signature by reconciling the deeply personal with the esoteric, and by harmonizing the spheres of technology and biology. whether he is acting in the role of producer, dj, performer, or stroboscopic artefacts curator, lucys clear passion for creative evolution and mutation is something that continues to attract new listeners, and keeps giving his current supporters new reasons to continue tuning in. ep opener the hermit is eight minutes of spacious and cerebral techno. rolling drums are buried deep as little flecks of sound design peel off the groove. occasional bell hits bring a sombre and languid feel despite the drive of the drums, and it is the sort of perfectly absorbing track that will suck you down a 5am rabbit hole. on the flip, �the high priestess� is a similarly mental work out that is empty and eerie, with distant drones and yawning pads outlining a vast underground space. the drums here are again rubbery and rolling, but a little more prominent, and the whole thing manages to be both soothing and unsettling. after this fine ep starts the label in style, a remix ep from blawan will follow.

following his first ep for accidental jnr in the summer bambooman is now back with something entirely different. the downtempo experimental designs of the �feel ep� give way to his latest offering �shudder�. available on 12� and digital the 4 tracks of shudder weave through a club music tapestry like a chainsaw through custard. the opening and title track is hard to describe, a mix of off kilter synth stabs and hammering snare that routes you to the floor - it�s one of those tracks to whip out of your bag to remind the crowd they have no idea what is coming next. track 2 �grasp� with a blissful detroit groove under deep rich melting chords is a perfect blend of early funk house style and super crisp new production. side b opens with �m1� a lazy floor track with washes of bells, static and detuned synth above a bed of solid kick and shuffling bass. finally �kyrian� closes proceedings, another club friendly slice (despite being in a 7&#8260.8 time signature), the track could have led the ep in its own right but feels like the perfect bookend with its shifting almost garage like 2-step feel and glancing vocal hook.

out of the south american continent colombian producer duo uron appears for the first time on black brook limited. two tracks of the original and three remix versions completes the ep. the tack titles hiperion and leda are multiple terms. one of saturn s moons is called hyperion and one of jupiter is called leda. we don t know for sure if there is an intended meaning to their sound involved. what we listened to is what you get now. pure energetic techno, signal sounds, heavy drums. the upcoming ep contains more than 30 minutes quality music. responsible for the two remixes is greek producer endlec. hyperion and leda are also two terms leading into the world of greek myths. is it the bridge to endlec while travelling through space your soundtrack should be the 9 minutes groover of leda - repressed mind & escape to mars remix is the perfect piece to float.

mihai popoviciu has carved out a reputation for being one of the most innovative producers of electronic music active in europe today. the man from romania has established himself both as a highly respected producer releasing on labels such as highgrade, international gigolo and dessous and as a killer dj performing all over the world. fiction is his 4th release on poker flat recordings, and delivers four distinct flavours to sink your teeth into. i should is a slinky groover, with a slippery, evolving bassline, tight, funky percussion and a sultry female vocal. working just as effectively early in a set as a peak time moment, its bound to get rinsed in the coming months. twisted is a little harder - a straighter beat signals a more heads down approach, and the bassline is sure to trigger some dancefloor scenes wherever it gets played. next up is title track fiction which perhaps makes a reference to mihai�s background, with fragments of eastern european melodies woven into the beautiful synth work, all tied together over a spacey yet driving rhythm track. last but by no means least is interconnected - a straight up deep bomb with echoes of classic chicago deep and acidic house in its warm and sensual vibe.

an innate facet of the human condition is the very personal way we choose to process our own fatality. faced with dealing with the feelings of anxiety, death and fear after nearly drowning whilst diving in the south atlantic in his youth, ricardo donoso chose to channel them into his creative process. the result was scuba death, a project that was fully realised on donoso�s widely acclaimed 2014 further debut, nitrogen narcosis. after spending time devoted to establishing his kathexis label as well as delivering a trilogy of albums under his given name for the denovali label, donoso returns to further with a second scuba death offering, the worm at the core.

it�s hard to get a handle on nigerian musicians nash dodoo, charlie cuul and jonas caulley. in 1980 they released an album of face-melting gospel boogie as the bml chapels. and in the same year, calling themselves the beta yama group, they put out free love, a belated love letter to san francisco�s summer of love and an album altogether focused on more worldly concerns. free love is a small slice of haight-ashbury transported to the polygram studios in lagos. �te revoir� is mamas and papas jamming with sergeant pepper�s beatles. �free love� offers a respectful nod towards je t�aime-era serge gainsbourg. sure, �revolution� gets hard and funky and �rain� flirts briefly with a calypso reggae sound, but the majority of the album is cheesecloth and flowers in your hair. insanely rare � and worth buying for the freaky cover art alone � free love is a funky, reverb heavy call for love, peace and sweet, sweet loving. what more could you want from an album?

how do you follow up a stone-cold afro funk classic like village boogie? simple. gather together some of the hottest players in nigeria, take them down to the phonodisk studios in ijebu igbo and let them loose on a bunch dancefloor fillers you spent the last four years �road testing� in kaduna. and don�t forget to get lady franka and mariam pledge in on backing vocals. those girls know how to fire up a party. it helps, of course, if you�re steve �dudu� black. steve had a god-given knack for writing combustible dance tunes and the contacts in the industry to get the likes of willy nfor, willy roy and felix lebarty to make them explode. from the opening track, �osasuima�, the heat never stops. on �no stopping me now� and �ololufe/ stay the night�, it�s almost too hot to handle. polished in a studio in london while musical youth recorded pass the dutchie in the next room, happy birthday to u is the gift that keeps on giving � an irresistible blend of highlife, afro beat and afro funk that is guaranteed to start a party on any dance floor.

kiki gyan�s star didn�t burn long, but it burned bright. drafted into the afro funk super group, osibisa, at 15, he was millionaire by 18 and regarded as one of the best keyboardists in the world by 21. �life was good, man,� he told journalist kweku sakyi-addo. �too good!�. in 1983 he dived head first into the new york party scene. he took a lot of drugs, spent a lot of time in clubs and got together a team of crack local musicians to record feelin� alright, his third and final solo album. all the kiki gyan trademark elements are present and correct. the album is unique a blend of highlife music with electronic funk and disco. �rosemary� follows the formula most closely and was a hit across nigeria and ghana. but on �give it to me�, �love to love you� and the title track, you�ll hear a slicker, boogie-influenced sound that has made feelin� alright one of his most sought-after albums. kiki gyan would never hit such heights again. his addictions eventually took hold and he died aged 47, destitute and alone. feelin� alright remains one of the brightest stars in his extraordinary constellation.

while unveiling the * mutant tournament* quartet last year, label boss nachtbraker was quietly hunting for new music behind the scenes. being the fine huntsman he is, he came out of the woods with sonic bits and bobs so delectable he had no choice but to spread them out over two brand new quartets. thats right, eight records in total, to be released over the course of the next 18 months. were delighted to introduce you to scott franka, whos at the helm of the first missive. this creative head from amsterdam has been making music since the tender age of 11, but it wasnt until he adopted his scott franka moniker that he really found his groove.

we are very happy excited to reveal to you the next installment of alfresco disco records. seka is a close friend and has played and raved at many of the alfresco disco parties. not only a great selector, here he clearly demonstrates he is no slouch in the studio either. from his studio in the heart of bristol, seka has used an analogue approach and his trusty mpc to carve out three satisfying, sample heavy house cuts that are unique and full of character. on the remix duties we enlisted the portugese maestro tiago, a resident at the brilliant lux club in lisbon who brings a live, percussive vibe to the release. enjoy!
