poni hoax poppiest moment comes reshaped by chloe, one of our favourite french producer and djs. she managed to turn the original into a long hypnotic house journey driven by repetitive voice drones and cut ups and a pounding bass. deep, subtly melancholic, cold and warm at the same time, everything we love about chloe is there. on the flip side, principles of geometry exercise their passion for detuned synthetisers on the beautiful juno 106 chords of poni hoaxs paper bride, the opening track of their recent album.

SEMIKOLON EP (INCL TIEFSCHWARZ RMX)
12 Inch
16.12.08
ruede hagelsteins the modest theme has proven to be one of souvenirs most provocative releases so far. released in the summer, the tracks dramatic horn hook is so epic it belongs in a science fiction film and as a piece of forward thinking techno, it ranks among one of souvenirs best. now the track is back with a remix from souvenir spearheads tiefschwarz alongside a new track from berlin based ruede. semikolon is another dark and dubby deep tech-housy outing for ruede that begins with a dramatic spoken word by naneci and ominous organ stabs. as the track progresses it takes on a chicago house vibe re-imagined at 10am in the panorama bar. an urgent bell begins to ring through the track raising the tension as the vocal intones a surreal chant before giving way to huge synth stabs that lead the track into a slow motion emotional explosion. just when things can get any more hectic the crescendo sinks to silence compressing the energy before the beats emerge back in their earlier deep house guise. ali and bast schwarz take their turn at remixing the modest theme fresh from their incendiary remix of emad kamandians kamanche for souvenir 012. the signature dramatic horn riff remains albeit injected with new percussion lending the track a tough tech house appeal that places it within the context of 2008s underground house sound. both tracks are another addition to souvenirs impressive collection of music aimed at the head just as much as they are at the heart and feet.

BLOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR
12 Inch
11.12.08
breaking the rules and beeing anything but mr. nice guy - with this massive new ep on karateklub blood & tears shows his straight, trippy, disturbed and mindthrilling way of getting a dancefloor boiled, slaughtered and painted blood-red. blood on the dancefloor is a hypnotising anthem, a bow to the sound of frankfurt of the mid ninetees, pounding more than nine minutes, combining the catchy grooves of todays- and the spirit of oldschool techno with rising pads and pushing sequences. this was made to be played on big floors on very high volume, so turn it up and see what happens when the drums return after a breathtaking break...because blood will follow blood - flip the disk and drop the needle. another advanced dj tool awakens the b-side - your truth was just another lie, something like the beautiful silence before the storm which is the heavy and absolutely non-compromising i wish you were dead. eight minutes of hate and destruction, of nothing but pure techno and a statement that needs no fucking explainings!

the wurst edits gang has inducted yet another ny disco acolyte to the fold, the inimitable irishman-in-new york, eamon harkin. known for wild dj sets not to mention his innovative bookings at such parties as sunday best and fun, harkins no stranger to dance music. no wonder the mans shared bills with such legends as afrika bambaataa, juan atkins, grandmaster flash, the egyptian lover, and kevin saunderson. on his debut single, the man heads straight into peak-time territory with the sinister sounds of >john boy<, where synth toms jump out of the shadows only to punctuate an incredibly propulsive groove. >innit< takes a decidedly different turn down edits lane, rejuvenating an early 90s house gem in magnificently wurst fashion.

UNEXPECTED LIFE-FORM

todd bodine demonstrates with this ep once again extraordenary taste and skills. after a very successfull excursion on claude van strokes mothership label and his activities as a heavily booked live-act and dj he presents on >unexpected life-form< two brilliant tracks, that seem to burst with their energy. todd bodine apparently has gained a lot of experience how to bunch the impact on both the dancefloor and the musical side and how to turn the result into a wall of sound. and hes doing it by following his own unique style. on the a-side >calypso< captivates you right after a few seconds with its pulsating sequences and a subtle growing energy-level from break to break. developing a drive which wont miss its impact on any floor. >snakeskin< on the flip is homogeneously build around shimmering melody-sequences which create the energy of this track, while the bassline below pulsates warm and deep. sounds like: detroit without kitsch. or like a cross between matthew johnson, robert hood and fabrice lig. to put it in other words: a typical todd bodine release in the best sense. allready a true highlight in the highgradecatalogue in 20

another quality dmx krew masterpiece we at turbo are longtime fans of dmx krew, so its a real honor to work with him again 6 years after his last contribution to our now defunct sub-label white leather. we dont normally trace an artists history or include much biography in our press releases, but we feel the need in this case to pay our respects to a long and brilliant career. with all the crap that gets paraded around nowadays its easy to forget who the real masters are... ed dmx is one of them. ive always held a soft spot for ed, he was one of my favorite producers in the proto-electro heyday. hearing his live version of the knight rider theme at sona (tigas club circa 96) was (believe it or not) a revelation. of all the artists id met up until then, he was the coolest, he could play synths better than anyone id ever heard, he had the balls to do vocals in his live-set but he was a sweet, softspoken, and super funny guy. for reasons ive never understood, eds pop side didnt seem to take off and for awhile things took a distinctly experimental turn... interesting stuff, but a departure

killer re edit from section 79, based on the 80s electro classics from savage progress original 12inch version... from a simple but clever re edit of the original, the tracks dig further and further into a more acid based loop that would turn upside down any floor for real... so many influences here from ron hardy to armando, to new york noise scene.... ultra limited edition. one for the headz.
its not hard to tell that barems been kicking back and enjoying the summer, soaking up the sunshine vibes and pouring new found inspiration into these three new tracks. the result is a breath-taking departure from his previous releases that demonstrates an unexpected mastery of the classic house sound. the first surprise is that each track stretches out to around the nine-minute mark with barem adopting a more patient, relaxed approach to his arrangements. the resulting laidback grooves - loopy, organic and sexy in turn - effortlessly seduce the crowd, marking a definite evolution in his sound and adding a welcome new string to his bow

the finns from new judas are back with a new release to convince you all to believe the hype. this time pets on prozac meets obi blanche on a split 12 where tropical beats meets gypsy tech. pets on prozac hailing from helsinki, finland knows how to turn nocturnal melancholy into tropical psyche house. starting out as a noisy punk techno band back in 2005 the set up was a trio of handsome men all bringing a taste of their own into a solid blend. after getting their debut single out on uk label house cat recordings they quickly earned their fifteen minutes of nme fame and got recognition on the blog roll. obi blanche, the man behind the twitchin and grindin beat music he himself has dubbed hobo-tech has come a long way to greet you. the tech-savvy finn has travelled a winding road of differnt sounds from his position as a guitar vendor in the rural viking midlands to his current studio chair in his new haven berlin. starting out with a technics 1200 turntable and a numark mixer he began to produce hip hop beats in his teens, smoothly progressed via mod to idm and onwards to produce his nowadays sweaty hifi vs. analog electro mosh

these hand-picked tracks are now available on a dj-friendly 2-sided-4-tracks-vinyl-ep and let me tell you, they are well worth the extra investment. the first of the bunch starts off with big man lexys fancy girl, an ever-growing minimal techy peak-time-pusher with a hushed vocal-sample, some anaologue signal sounds and a futuristic and pumping beat. add a great distorted melody to this on the breakdown and the dancefloor will thank you for putting this on: they will go mental! after this introduction, its the newcomers mickey monzza & joseph discos turn with their equally stimulating track lonely. this is a great modern piece of pumping dub techno with a straight-forward attitude. the hi-hats on this tune are mesmerezing, the clappy snares and sirens perfectly placed and the subtle dubby and groovy melody an ideal antithesis to this hectically moving tune. simply nice! but hold on, there is more to come. on the flip there is hamburgs house impressario h.o.s.h. with his track ben johnson and whether this title is a reference to the legendary sportsman or not, its a pretty record-worthy track: wonderful little stabs and vocal sounds and a bassline so warm and groovy it makes your heart melt. then when the breakdown hits you with its long and winding signal sound, the dancefloor will already be bathing in a floor filled with sweet happiness. this is truely delicious! the two newcomers and residents at hive club in zurich animaltrainer have the honour to finish off this ep with their oily tech-house-anthem talkshow, a superb main-floor-peak-time-melody-affair.
the latest release on rising trax is this cheeky little ep from max vangeli. three top draw tracks on show here. >crazed< starts simple yet effective and builds slowly into a big distorted guitar hook before dropping back into a very militant rhythm. >k.e.j.i< is a stripped down prog house number with a wicked groove overlaid with nice stabs and a cool hook. the final track of the ep is >i rock< which begins as a minimal house track then drops with some cool squeaks, bleeps and delayed noises. the stabs turn into a big snyth riff which can only be described as large!
