Layo & Bushwacka! turn out two more techno-tinged, melody rich house tracks for OLM019, both of which are clearly heavily influenced by the duo’s travels.
‘Djembe Re-work’, produced in conjunction with Magnetik North, manages to be both euphoric and refined at the same time, marrying an elegant laid-back melody with hypnotic whispered spoken vocals and a bassline worthy of an all night rave in the middle of the Australian outback. The moment when the bass returns after the break is duty bound to cause a bit of a dancefloor moment. ‘The Sierra Madre’ initially seems to have more of a minimal feel, kicking off with a bouncy bassline, topped with deliciously crisp claps and distinctive samples. It breaks with a quirky and almost mournful sounding melody, then when the bassline kicks back in, it does so with the force of a Sergeant Major marching you back to the dancefloor! Both tracks get more addictive the more you listen, definitely two for a peak time set
