SPLIT EP

28.07.08
yore returns with a true dream team split ep, pairing yore label head andy vaz with sistrum manager patrice scott. vaz is up first with a beautiful slice of old-school funk and soul within a deep house formula, >back to square one< that has a whole lot more in common with isaac hayes and james brown than with juan atkins or any other techno icon. accompanied by a wah-wah guitar figure and claps, a bullet-proof bass line leads a nine-minute charge thats quickly bolstered by a slinkily swinging drum groove. creamy synth chords and blazing horns intermittently spill over the pulsating mix and then vanish, leaving space for the rhythm to intensify and the track to grow ever more euphoric (and even, towards its close, a bit acidy). a true mission into both funk and house, which again showcases vazs ultimate diversity as an outstanding producer. scott titled his second sistrum release beyond deep and the title might just as easily apply to the b-side >aztecal< where the detroit producer slathers shimmering stabs and congealing streams over a thudding kick drum and flickering percussive detail. while vazs cut draws inspiration from the timeless traditions of decades past, scotts looks towards the future when its gleaming shuttle lifts off in pursuit of distant galaxies.

first single from the forthcoming album called >toinen< from sasse comes in the form of 2 long, evolving, pulsing deep tracks which bring the finn back into his rootz of house music. big with alex kid, agoria, danny howells, steve bug, mathias kaden, kiki, garnier, jimpster and many many more
daniel mehlhart steps up to the plate for kindischs seventeenth release, origami - an exquisitely deep, languid house jam laced with strung-out, processed spanish guitar and gently euphoric xylophone arpeggios. >origami< is languid, yes, but not exactly laid-back: its held up and propelled forward by a gently vibrating lattice of kickdrum and snare hits, through which a dubby, molten bassline and taut, time-keeping chords dreamily but determinedly flow. the perfect soundtrack to the mixed pace of summers long days and even longer nights. mehlhart harks back to his acclaimed past releases on karmarouge and neutonmusic for >alles klar alles easy<, which sees brushed drum and shaker sounds edited into a quietly explosive techno work-out with serious swing. >fata morgana< begins in a more linear, four-to-the-floor style, but those percussive flourishes quickly accrue into something more strange, and then out of the ether comes an entrancing, south american-style chorus line. the voices mingle imperceptibly with woodblock strikes and caustic snares, injecting the techno dna >fata morgana< with a sick and psychedelic voodoo funk. with this 12inch kindisch once again proves itself to be a preeminent stable for experimental, expressive dancefloor music, and daniel mehlhart affirms his status as one of our most daring and capable producers
niederflur are back on minus with the typo ep, dropping science with a quintet of class a cuts that mark another step on their evolutionary ladder
NOT FOR ME

after the extremely successful filmmusik ep on rompecabeza, holgi star is back with >not for me<. the ep consists of two tracks with technoid crossover potential! on >not for me< bits of african vocals meet functional techno and seamlessly weave together into a quite sexy and rather danceable number. all the while >dont feel it< coolly, calmly, and with just enough repetition, establishes its class and style without unneeded flourishes. both tracks were extensively tested by the rompe crew at sonar 2008 in barcelona, and reactions spoke of the potential both of the artist and the ep itself!!!

bastian heerhorst, also known as fukkk offf brought the heat at the end of 2007 with electro hip hop stormer >im a freak< which gained huge support from djs and clubs across all genres and time zones. he is back for summer 08 with a three track monster called >rave is king<. if you wanted more after >im a freak<, then youve got it. the a-side kicks off with the single for which the e.p. is named and it starts out with a computer voice chanting >neon lights, party people, revolution, rave is king< backed by a maximized electro basslines straight out of 2008. the flashback comes in after about four minutes taking you back to 1988 with piano stabs from when rave was only a young prince. next up is >rock paper scissors< which is quite simply a monster builder that only gives you rare glimpses of a release. on the b-side things take a decidedly darker turn with >black phantom< another beast with menacing organ grinds and horror movie vocal snips. dark, pounding and relentless, >rave is king< brings you the full view of the royal court of fukkk offf

SPACE CHRONIC EP

14.07.08
played by karotte, l.garnier, steve bug, sebo k, mike shannon, layo, d julz !!! we are pretty sure that maetrik sent us his latest ep from a grow room orbiting the earth. his space chronic ep combines the innovation of techno with a sense of fun missing from your average four on the floor banger. its a little shocking, but the results have been exactly what wed expect from the dallas native - mass freaking on the dancefloor. the albums lead single, sex with bass, explores the type of low frequencies that usually occur when suspension bridges tear apart. all the while a subsonic voice repeats its desire to have sex
with bass! stab jockey throws a techno curveball at the start, utilizing rhythmic synths over a simple beat. dont trust it! midway through, the line clears out for full-frequency busting bass drops. on the flip, crawl machine immediately builds a head-nodding groove that wastes no time firing off its boosters half the track is a sneaky buildup. by the time the kick slams back in, youre already back in orbit. cuban born maetriks techno pedigree is bulletproof.

mri first came to prominence in 2000 with the release of the ground breaking rhythmogenesis on forcetracks and his acclaimed mille plateaux productions. due to the massive reaction drawn from the contribution on the latest 12, take kare not acid, mri returns back to the resopal imprint with two new tracks to redesign the past and further the future. title track bateau is a banging builder that is reminiscent of the current house flavored tracks but resonates the touch of classiness and depth of mid 90s reduced techno arrangements. decayed bassdrum, pad, chords and a break - distinctly marked with modern hyper percussive tendencies, based in between house and techno soundscapes this a-side is a pure bomb. the flipside ivre by all means reaching the dancefloors of today. cascading rhythms build subtly behind the fuelled drive of bass, and druggy vocals fully defined by mris signature formula. all in all, bateau ivre tunes up in fresh formula towards techy driven reduced microhouse, bring through a soothing and completely refreshing 12that will be sure to please old and new fans alike. ltd. stock

MY LITTLE PLACE
12 Inch
09.07.08
would you have remembered? with the debut album of the 32-year-old warszawian, téchnè, cocoon recordings has released the first artist album ever on the label six years ago, at that from an artist who was not well-known to a large extent back then. this has changed fundamentally: with his releases on his own label recognition as well as on trapez or klang elektronik, sienkiewicz belongs to those ambassadors of modern individual electronic dance music who set benchmarks. this is also his demand with the two tracks on my little place, meanwhile his fourth release for cocoon recordings. while the over-heated my little place re-interprets the credo of dub with polyrhythmic elements, delays and echo in an somehow unfamiliar way, com-bat carries on sienkiewicz tradition of putting hypnotic sound evocations close to the ten-minute mark. with intensive melancholy, the percussive bass rotor of com-bat creates a bewitched hymn for sunrises somewhere in between the urban desperation of detroit, the atmosphere of after hours and balearic bliss

TROGLODYTE

07.07.08
alec storey has been making quite a name for himself in techno & electro circles since his debut release on kracktronik back in 2006. renowned for his no-holds-barred live shows (which often incorporate stunning demonstrations of his considerable skills as a drummer), he has also been making considerable progress in the studio, with new equipment and new techniques. the troglodyte ep is a distillation of all these things and more, and although calling it refined might be stretching it a bit (its not called the troglodyte ep for nothing), its certainly fair to say that he has honed his sound into a near-perfect combination of brutal beats, bowel-busting bass, and mind-mangling sound design, all presented at slightly-higher-than-normal tempos, guaranteed to get the pulse racing. for remix duties we called in two heavyweight producers! carl finlow (aka silicon scally) has been turning out immaculate electro, house and techno for over 10 years now, with releases & remixes on such respected labels as mute, warp, playhouse, satamile & scsi-av . here he turns troglodyte into an off-kilter, but driving, electro workout full of twists and turns. kracktronik fave volum doesnt disappoint either. he drops the tempo and increases the spook factor by a few notches, and as always his intricate programming reveals layer after layer of nutritious electronic brain-food.

a third ep on trenton from theodor zox and his copenhagen grooves! >moodswinger< is a bit of a more house-y record but still with theodors recognizable touch, short sounds and shuffled beats. still theodor explores new corners of funkiness while making sure he gives you that bounce. its summer after all. on the >moodswinger< remix, reynolds re-interprets the track with different keys. as its his forte, reynold drops some cinematic shit in the middle before bringing back the funk hard. all that and he still manages to keep the track tight and solid. the 2 tracks on the inside are a bit more experimental and make that record a perfect tool for early, peak time and after hours sets. thanks for supporting us and keep it real
