as some of you may have already noticed, each release of mr raoul ks >peul< series features a specicific african instrument as its main sound. this time its the balafon - a kind of sticcado, which uses calabashes as resonancebodies and is often handcrafted by its player. here, the balafon is used as a rhythmic and a melodic instrument. after a long intro, the track gathers momentum and takes off for one of those long buildups. when the tension is released, in come the vocals! rising from a sparse chant to an energetic vocal that empathically pleads for unity. then you get your beats back and off goes another african-european joyride. for those of you who arent that much into vocals, a less vocalized mix is provided on the flipside. enjoy another mr raoul k special treat

after a 2 and a half year wait i finally managed to knock out a new single. its actually only my 3rd solo single ever. im very happy with it but ive got mixed feelings trying to describe it. you spend a year working on a track and a lazy shop worker or journalist will lump you into the >cosmicbalearicspacewhatever< straightjacket in 2 seconds, i can at least resist to do the same… anyway, two are quite psychedelic and one is some kind of cover version of one of my favourite villalobos trax. as you can hear ive had loads of fun fooling around in the studio playing the bass, percussion, drums(badly) and synths(even worse…)…

september 2008, nima gorji is spending 1 month at the house of his friend babalow baba ifa leri oma in ibiza. in cuban santeria, a babalow is the father of secrets, a shaman, a spiritual guide. the philosophy of ifa was brought by the slaves from afrika, especially nigeria, to the caribbean islands. it became santeria in cuba, vodoo in haiti, condomble in brasil. the yoruba language is used in the santerias books and the ceremonies as chants. nima assisted to some ceremonies where the babalow is cleaning somones soul, energy, or aura, and establish a direct conection with a special energy called orisha. each orisha has specific attributes like a color, tools, beads, and various patterns of percussion rhythm. nima is listening to all these beats coming directly from cuba, he samples some parts, and produces a new ep : azul y verde. we are blue is a tribute to yemaya, the mother of the sea. she represents maternity, fertility, and life on earth in general. her color is blue and her number 7. the chant is performed by lazaro ross a cuban artist who died in 2005. lazaro was a legendary akpwon, or lead singer in the yoruba tradition. warriors is a tribute to oggun, another main orisha. he represents the force and the work of human kind. he is working with metal, and he always carry a knife. his color is green and his number is 3.

mobilee back to back vol. 3, compiled by miss jools, is inching its way to the release date but before then, active listeners can turn ears to the second exclusive vinyl teaser release with remixes from d julz and christian burkhardt. djulz of ovum, pokerflat and intacto records remixed gummihzs 2007 one-of-kind release and turned it into nothing short of a dance floor phenomenon. of course, nothing less could be expected from a man who has been around the world and back since 1992 playing in the most legendary clubs before the most legendary scensters. d julz certainly has the qualification and experience of what it takes to make a party a paaarty! christian burkhardt of oslo, raum…musik and remote area records took one of anjaschneiders more mellow and somber tunes from her spooky beyond the valley album, which ranked third in the charts of groove magazine, and give it a powerful face lift. the hard baseline and repetitive foot-stomping beat is exactly the kind of techno flair that burkhardt embodies in his music. mobilee back to back vol. 3, to be released march 2, 2009, combines a compilation of tracks and remixes produced by mobilees, remixed by other various artists and then mixed again by miss jools in a two-disc spectacular: cd1 is an unmixed selection of 2008 mobilee tracks, all handpicked by miss jools, while cd2 welcomes a list of her favorite producers to remix their picks of the mobilee pack with an additional miss jools spin. miss jools invited talents from the likes of cassy, tobias., nick curly, dinky, djulz, efdemin, christian burkhardt, vincenzo, sven tasnadi and solomun, extending the musical preference.

ceephaxs drive time k7 was released as a bonus cassette with his first album, and is a cult classic. half an hour of music per side, ranging from banging vocal acid to the deepest and darkest side of ambient, with everything in between. the 27 tracks are a perfect description of andy jenkinson s original music universe, his roots. it took about quite a while to transfer it onto acetate, it was one of the most challenging vinyl cut that anyone can imagine. the making of this record is kind of similar to homer s iliad. the stamper was then stored for several years, safe from the dangers of heat and daylight. just like for the nicest bottles of wine. firtcask records just took this jewel out of the cellar...

fusing some weird italo-ish vibes together with some unmistakenly drexciyan influences this is a pretty unique release on rh! concepts often bring interesting results and this is no exception.. i think its going to be a real >love it or hate it< record. yurotrago take the track somewhere completely different, stretching it out on a different kind of vision. awesome deep and moody action for the floor. the packaging is awesome for this one

after more than one year and a couple of releases on sistrum recordings and morphine records, ksoul is finally back with a new project called kindasoul to launch his new label kinda soul recordings. the first release will be a split alongside scott ferguson who kindly gave the chance to licence these tracks from ferrispark records. the aim of the label is to focus on the deep side of house music without any kind of compromise, trying to highlight some of the best producers around plus some promising newcomers. the concept is also based on reaching out all the people who helped me in the last years to make it real in order to create a sort of worldwide family around our faithfully loved house music. you know who you are... ksoul!

original mix, big beats and massive vibe make the original a real dance floor monster. with an almost house vibe its hard to accurately classify, though ticking nearly all the boxes for a trance smash with awesome build ups and breakdowns. michael cassette remix, inventing their own style which you might call a kind of retro progressive house house the cassette boys never fail to impress with their big room sounds. this remix is certainly not an exception to the rule with aggressive beats and groovy oldskool sounds. store n forward remix, well whats left to say about the snf guys when everything they do is just awesome? another solid remix to add to their portfolio, a progressive sound of gritty basslines and trance euphoria.

permanent vacation present you the first 12inch release from their shiny new joint venture with the great swedish label service (who brought you studio, whitest boy alive, jens lekman, kool dj dust). together they bring us the embassy, a duo from gothenburg that makes the most beautiful songs. their sound is warm and light, but underneath the surface theres always some kind of tension, they sound like an ecstasy fuelled, jewel stealing balearic indie band on a permanent vacation at the riviera. or as they say themselves: underclass disco. the original of lurking (with a distances) sounds like a forgotten manchester rave anthem, while wunderkind tensnake made a little jam session with boney m in his parents basement to provide a heavy remix sporting a great sax and a killer panpipe!

yes, hes back with a huge follow up, after his first impress he left with down. his decision to work with the wonderful and unique voice of soniamiki was just magnificient. marlon krupa is well known in the minimal techno szene because of his digital releases, which always climed the highest positions in digital download charts. its high time to introduce him to the friends of vinyl. with his minimal remix, he will impress! at least, racso and jenn pushed the original in their different kind of styles and generate at all, a record with a high variety of sound and styles. taste the full-bodied flavour of the night!

like many of us over here at bear towers, giorgio sancristoforo aka tobor disco experience has an unhealthy interest in the 1970s - the instruments of bob moog, vocoders, alan parsons - the cult sci fi series space 1999 - and here hes used the decade as a sonic palette to create the kind of ep that gets the whole office (ie: both of us, on pcs at home, occasionally) sitting up and listening. opener disco moog has already been used on our rools for rules compilation earlier this year and had many beards twitching at the prospect of forthcoming vinyl. shooting star is a more uptempo affair with blissful chords, slap bass, disco handclaps and gios trademark vocoder. i feel loved is a personal favourite of stevie kotey with anthem written all over it. this awesome clavinet workout has such a good vibe about it you cant help feeling nothing but loved. it could easy be mistaken for alan hawkshaw super rare bruton library track.
