sometimes you have to put out a recdord for yourself. i first heard the east of underground lp from malcom catto in the jazzman records office in around 2000, after a couple of years i managed to pick one up for $100 from a soundtrack dealer who did not know what he had. now there is a few bangers on the lp but i have always thought is was the ballads that deserve the shine, so after a chat with egon at now-again i managed to sort out putting my two favorites on 45 for that end of the night slowy. hopeflly a few of you will enjoy this one also.

reissue of a classic! the label: tk records in essence represents the city of miami when it came to soul/r&b and the early stages of disco. in 1974, george mccrae gave the label its first no. 1 disco hit with rock your baby. a little more than a year after mccrae s hit, the record label struck gold with kc & the sunshine band with five 1 songs on the billboard hot 100. needless to say at the height of the genreÆs cultural domination tk did pretty well.

another odd and rather good 12inch from hyv. we don t know much, but they seem to just know. tip! tracks from hyvinkää, finland. written by juho kahilainen and tomi kesäniemi. both boring family men, middle-aged and middle-class. however, they ve been here long enough to learn a trick or two. nods to detroit, nods to acid. a mid-tempo track tape loader sounds like a 909 trapped in swamp. fast and jazzy r train funk pays a tribute to detroit-legends with a decent 303 line to drink beer to. the tower that stands in the woods is a dubby slow-down before suomi 100 acid celebrates finlands 100th anniversary with lyrics that deal with recession and the finnish government s fair deal to cut everyone s wage.

re issue of timmy thomas s long sought after -afrcaino- 12- excavated from the deepest realms of the tk disco vaults. when it comes to this deep disco cut, africano is one of those tracks that became a dancefloor favorite of danielle baldelli who during the 80s played disco, african records, american r&b, and reggae to create what has been since become known as the afro-cosmic scene at the height of club culture in the discotheques of northern italy. remastered, represented and brought back into focus for 2017 s dj bags and dance-floors! as usual, these tk represses are always done in the proper manner. 100% legit re-edits, from the archive, remastered and released in conjunction with henry stone music / tk disco - miami fl.
