the “vince montana tribute” (louie vega and rick wilhite from detroit rework) is a heartfelt and masterful production in which 2021 grammy award nominee louie demonstrates his appreciation for the disco sounds that he grew up on in the iconic borough of bronx, nyc. the inspiration came about through an edit rick sent to louie. louie added some of his own editing touches, and the resulting track got big response whenever louie played it at his headlining sets. given louie’s longtime love and respect for vince montana, he decided to create an even bigger musical project. bringing in elements of life band members gene perez (bass), axel tosca (fender rhodes) and luisito quintero (congas), and then adding a piano line himself, louie was able to bring out the most authentic disco elements of this superlative groove but rework them so they are exactly in the pocket for today’s dancefloors worldwide.

2018 repress ... well. where do we start with deep inside ? originally released in the golden nyc house era of 1993, this 5 tracker literally smashed everything in sight. and still does now! the epitome of an evergreen, all-time classic release. masters at work louie vega and kenny dope were on a major roll in this era, producing, remixing, dj-ing and everything in-between, these guys put in ridiculous work. they are joined on this ep by a roll-call of names and collaborators, erick morillo engineering the title track? check. maurice joshua on co-production duties? you got it. vocals by ms. barbara tucker? they re there. killer, rock hard drums? stacks of soul? masterfully chopped up disco samples? all present. serious stuff. sometimes a record just manages to capture and distill the true essence of what this is all about and deep inside is one such record, it bears all the hallmarks of golden era maw, all the signposts of what was happening in nyc s clubs in the early to mid 90 s were there within it s grooves. you know a record is good when it s still being, quite literally, hammered nearly 25 years later! now, remastered, and reissued with the full involvement of strictly rhythm this seminal piece of nyc house history is made available again with all original, full sleeve artwork intact as per the 1993 original. this one s a straight up essential for any self-respecting dance aficionado. you know what to do!

louie vega joins forces with the martinez brothers and revered salsa singer hector lavoe this february for shut the door. the martinez brothers have rapidly become two of the most in demand djs and producer across the globe and here we see them make a welcome return to their cuttin headz imprint for one of their most accomplished projects to date. collaborating with the infamous house aficionado and one half of masters at work, louie vega whilst the vocal additions come courtesy of puerto ricos hector lavoe, one of the most revered salsa singers in the history of the genre. the tmblv main mix of shut the door opens, offering a refined house feel fuelled by smooth chord swells and organic percussion as hector lavoe’s vocal contributions ebb and flow through the rolling groove. a tmblv main instrumental follows, stripping away the vocal contributions to the heady groove alone. the martinez brothers up-tempo energy fuelled production then shines through on the tmblv beats mix offering their dynamic and intricate drum arrangement style whilst the processing the latin vocals from hector lavoe showcases louie vegas finessed additions to the composition. lastly a tmblv beats instrumental closes, again tipping the focus solely over to the swinging drums and snaking subs

the second series of jacks tracks va vol 2 presents 4 distinctively different tracks from both established and upcoming talent. first up on the a side is alex arnout from dogmatik records with hypersomnia, which is a tough rolling number with haunting subtle keys laid over the top. then a2, the talented tuccillo from unblock with his track another day brings a deep skippy house vibe with some cool vocal snippets over the top driven by its baseline. on the b side are more tech house flavours and fabric resident legend terry francis presents jua which is a timeless house number previously unreleased , now signed and ready for an official vinyl release. last but not least, young new talent kilian vega with ardour, a groovy infectious rolling underground house vibe. in short, an ep with 4 strong individual tracks from sincere and dedicated music makers.

louie vega re-ignites the disco classic “dance (disco heat)” by sylvester grammy awarding winning producer & 5 time grammy nominated louie vega continues to send dance floors into a peak hour frenzy with his remixes of disco classics on nervous records. the inspiration to delve into masters from this era began when he started remixing masters from the sam records catalogue, which is owned by nervous records, and with whom louie has a long history going back to nervous early 90’s origins. louie is that unique producer who has had success in multiple genres of music including house, r&b, & freestyle and he has brought that talent to help re-ignite new york disco classics like vicky d’s -this beat is mine- and convertion’s -let’s do it- featuring leroy burgess, as well as charting topping disco hits from john davis & the monster orchestra -bourgie bourgie- & -up jumped the devil-. this time, louie put his focus on a track outside of the sam records catalogue, and one that was an international disco hit that also crossed over to becoming a 1978 pop hit, namely sylvester / dance (disco heat). using elements from the 1978 version and combining them with his own original musical and percussion contributions, along with new vocal performances from renowned singer cindy mizelle, louie has refashioned and reignited this 39 year-old production into a 2018 club anthem.

house music maestro louie vega returns to nurvous to remix disco hit ‘up jumped the devil’ by john davis & the monster orchestra. originally released in 1977 on sam records, ‘up jumped the devil’ featured music performances from some of philly’s finest musicians, many of whom also featured on albums by the salsoul orchestra. among them were michael “sugar bear” foreman on bass, drummer charles collins and guitarist dennis harris. percussion came from larry washington, whilst don renaldo provided the strings and horns. with a rugged and rough rhythm section and blazing horn parts, the track was an absolute bomb amongst disco djs at the time and continues to shine as a gem today.

the new joey negro album produced with love is now available across all formats but as the double cd contained 20 tracks it wasnt possible to fit everything onto the 3lp version so the space time ep is a new vinyl ep containing some of these tracks that weren t ready in time to make it on to the vinyl lp. first up is distorting space time, a drawn out dubby, jazzy, spacey track that suggests a heavy arthur russell influence, one that is already a firm favourite of gilles peterson, louie vega and françois kevorkian i recognise is a jazzy boogie track with kaidi taitum on keys full of spacey effects and features sacha williamson on vocals. dancing into the stars features london s best disco party starters horse meat disco on co-production duties and angela johnson on vocals. this is the unreleased extended mix that comes in at over 10 minutes and is a full on dan hartman style modern disco production. completing the package is the black loops remix of wont let go who takes linda clifford s vocals and a killer bassline into deep house territory.
