the hidden meaning of number 13 is change, the death of something and its rebirth. this is the idea behind gabriel dor & bordoys new album 13, which is meant to be a turning point on their career. influenced by old school techno but also by modern sounds, after 6 years of production partnership, theyve decided to release their first entirely unpublished lp. the album, made out of 13 cuts, starts with a dark intro that paves the way into a forceful kind of techno, followed by vintage sounds with gloomy touches and sometimes even emotional ones. they have used many instruments and samples discovered along the way on this composition process, plus lots of others found in the previous years. the sounds put together on this album have been carefully picked to preserve their uniqueness, while trying to walk on a different path.

we were surprised when dominik knocked on our door with two tracks from gabriel ananda and himself. we had released *harzer roller*, *kirschplunder & jasmin tee bei gabriel* and *eucalypse now!* ages ago and these releases for us always had a special quality, a kind of energy exchange which took place between them, so we were excited to hear their newest recordings. once heard we instantly knew: these tracks are crowd-pleasers in a big way and come now for the first time on vinyl!

originally released in 1996 on harthouse with a villalobos remix >trommelmaschine reconstructed< 2012 hits daylight and turns its attention to the importance of electronic music classics.

more than a year after its release, we have the privilege to experience again a masterpiece reworked by two members of treibstoff, marcel janovsky, and till krueger. janovsky, sticking to his roots, delivers a minimal techno version with just enough of the original that creates a suspenseful groove that will leave the floor in a frenzy.

schallbox inaugurates the open-air season and by doing so unmistakably calls out for a dance! the high spirits of the party held for its tenth release is still in everbobys mind - and the blaze is still burning! yet team schallbox around steve cole follows up by presenting space night astronaut, saafi brother and sound design artist gabriel le mar with the spherically driving and playfully dreamy track >deep red guitar<.

short stories is the fruition of musical ideas brought forth by label owner / chief producer gabriel ananda and multitalented instrumentalist and vocalist alice rose. the two of them have come together to resurrect a project from 2001 and have put together a colorful mix of strings, vocals, and melodies. there is something familiar and comforting in the sound of this ep. it could be roses strings, which were introduced with her debut for basmati food for dreams (basmati 06), or elements of anandas live series, there is an aspect to the sound that just fits. ananda and rose have delivered the complete package. the a-side opens with the not-so-short short stories, a fourteen minute evolving trip covering the scope of both producers’ talents. the b-side contains two versions of “struck by light. the techno version comes with power and emotion, crafted for the dance floor, which is followed by the deeper, original version recorded for the first time in 2001.

with his first release on dub2dust gabriel le mar again shows his side as a producer focussing on dubtech music with an energetic flow.quantec remixied up a great dub rocker, let us get going through deep and floating dub chords and nerdy piano rolls.the tracks are a wonderful example of going through waves concerning energy and flow with one result - something more musical and playful.

gabriel ananda was captivated by the sound of classical music by the early age of 8. he was encouraged by his family to practice the cello, but it was through playing the guitar that fueled his motivation to continue to learn about music. the guitar became a useful tool to express his creativity, but gabriel was not finished searching for his musical direction. in 1995 that changed. a dj set by sven väth was the pivotal moment that ended gabriels search to find his passion and two years later, the new producer celebrated his first release for the german label hörspielmusik. he went on to release singles on treibstoff, trapez, platzhirsch, and karmarouge before producing what was for him, a life changing track

joe goddard is surely one of the busiest men in the world of electronic music: writer and producer behind the world-conquering hot chip, acclaimed solo artist, travelsome dj, prolific remixer, one half of the emerging 2 bears house duo and one of the founding members of the greco-roman record label and party collective. goddards first solo material in 18 months should open with a chorus of angels, before title track >gabriel< strides confidently into familiar territory of londons clubland and its rich musical influences, this time goddard choosing gospel and house as his parameters to create a bone fide underground radio and club hit which currently sits on the bbc radio 1 playlist.

parallel to the release of his album >selected works techno< ananda starts on basmati his live series. published here are the tracks which have been established on the floors during his recent live sets. the tracks hold almost forgotten practice to deceive an audience: occasional imprecision is a stylistic device, the post production was skipped, unpolished rough edges remain. live series vol.1 is coming with the tracks >alpha< and >smash<. this year at least 3 more releases of this series will appear on basmati.
