katharsis was originally a regular party organized at the infamous contact, tokyo, the home of the electronic music scene in japan. in 2017 katharsis recordings was launched, with the first release being touted by many in the japanese techno scene and played by the likes of dj nobu at dekmantel.the second release will be scripted with another compilation of 4 japanese artists. the first on the a side, mikuni kaido by head honcho masafumi take, is a fresh track that combines nostalgic arps and analogue bass. the other main member kannabi s track -shoka- on the b side is an abstract rhythmical piece that evolves slowly. the second track on the a side -kirisame- is by a new member o-ma. a modular synth enthusiast, his unique analogue sounds are a trademark of his tracks. the last track on the ep is -yoake- by veteran ryogo yamamori. the rolling beat and spacey synth sound gradually build up to a climax and makes this track perfect for the dance floor. all 4 tracks are distinctly different showcasing the identity of each artist. this new movement represents a fresh approach to the japanese

b from e (frej garcia levin) represents a new generation of talented young artists making waves in copenhagen. of mexican-danish descent, and born and raised in the notorious tower blocks of the south-western suburbs of copenhagen, the 27-year old is on the up-and-up. in high demand as the founder of boom bap rap group natkat, producer of pop outfit ny sensei (new sensei) and head of tape-only label buddahood, the multi-talent seems to have a hand in everything at the moment. his 2017 debut porno tr-xxx (c.u.p) saw some of the hottest names in the game spinning b from e at last year s dekmantel festival, resulting in offers from several well-known record labels.

his new record on tartelet records comes as four cuts exploring different paths of the garage house sound. the opener dark energy is fueled by filthy breaks and a nostalgic theme that would not be out of place in an early atari computer game. the people (dream mix) is a trippy tour through subtle layered melodies, carried by a stripped-back groove.

betonkust has been spotted lurking in the realm of seedy late night body music alongside artists such as palmbomen ii, landing his noirish wares on 1080p, pinkman and most notably dekmantel. now he makes the logical leap to crimes of the future alongside equally accomplished belgian producer innershades, previously spotted on wicked bass, creme organization, hot haus and many more besides. the sound on forever in boccaccio is totally fitting for crimes of the future, all muscular drum machines beats and analogue synth lines angled to send a shiver down your spine. watch out for the unexpected rave hit of -jambers at carat afterclub- which comes on strong with some fist-shaking peak time euro techno motifs.

keeping up a high rate and high quality of release, dan mela and dodi palese s what ever not label serves up a second ep of 2018, this time from the esteemed simone gatto with a special remix from voiski. italian gatto is now based in lecce, south italy, where he co-runs his out-er label, which since 2010 has become synonymous with house and techno that challenges the norm. his own productions find new life in the underground, roaming between labels like night vision, raw waxes and his own pregnant void. most recently he served up a two-part album, heaven inside your frequencies , which combined dark ambient, techno and abstract sound with his professional work as a researcher and came with a book that offered a theoretical and practical analysis of the use of sounds and frequencies. this new ep is another arresting affair that lays out gatto s unique and varied vision for club music across three very different tracks. it opens with no regrets , which pairs blissful ambient synths that lift you up into the skies with busy, bristling hi hats and gnarly bass. thumping drums drive the whole thing along, and the interplay between coarseness and serenity is truly original. frenchman, dekmantel and sheik n beik records man vioski then brings all his scintillating techno skills to the table for a remix. it journeys deep into a cosmic night sky, with sheet metal percussion peeling off the groove as an uplifting synth brings a subtle sense of euphoria to the mix.

benny rodrigues is arguably one of the biggest djs on the dutch scene, performing at some of the worlds biggest events from awakenings & mysterland to underground spots such as berghain & dekmantel. as the phrase goes “get yourself a man that can do both”. cocaine speaking is a dutch acid anthem in two parts, complete with a alden tyrell remix!

following on from his intimate entry into the dj-kicks mix series, lone is putting out a vinyl only ep of all the unreleased tracks from it. the horizontal mix tapped into all of lones influences, from hip-hop to house, idm to techno. it also showcased some producers signed to his own magic wire label, and of course the back bone was built from some of the nottingham mans freshest new productions. they come after celebrated releases on werk discs, r&s and dekmantel, and include dance floor aligned eps and more rounded full lengths designed for close listening. here he sits in between the two across three thrilling cuts. opener ‘saturday night is a breezy bit of deep house with crisp boom-baps and swirling pads that lend it a dreamy, ethereal feel. spoken word snippets are stitched into the groove and the whole thing is as frictionless and feel good as house comes. next up, ‘arc is a little more direct, with scattered snares flapping over dry wooden kicks. its a punchy bit of house latest dj-kicks mix star kerri chandler would be proud, and comes overlaid with spring time flutes and luscious pads as a classically inclined bassline powers things along. last but not least is ‘alpha wheel 4 (ambient mix), a kaleidoscopic passage of suspensory sound scuffed up glassy surfaces trapping you in rays of refracted light from start to finish. all three tracks exhibit lones authentic, lived in and lo-fi aesthetic, and as a result slip perfectly into his ever more essential discography.

‘fallen down is the second ep from tee mango and will sauls primitive trust project, featuring a remix by shanti celeste. the title track weaves percussive shuffles and vocal refrains with glowing synths, whilst colourful melodic layers and resonating vocal stabs armour the choppy live drums of ‘day one. dekmantel regular shanti celeste does what she does best with her remix of fallen down in building a rich, hypnotic groove that steadily develops with intricacy and depth, whilst ‘big tracky disco tool is exactly that.

one of the current techno scene’s ‘hidden treasures’, bristol based a sagittariun has discretely released a wide breadth of music over the last five years for labels like secretsundaze, hypercolour and his own elastic dreams label. two highly acclaimed albums in “dream ritual” and “elasticity” as well as fifteen eps have appealed to those who like their techno without frontiers, taking in blistering 140bpm techno, breakbeat idm and ambient dub with ease. his second release for hypercolour displays signs of crossover appeal at long last… lead track “vanishing point” has already been receiving early plays from the likes of laurent garnier (dropping it in his recent timewarp germany set), spencer parker and len faki. big pumping beats and spiralling fx fall aside to a lone breakbeat that ushers in one pretty special breakdown section. the childlike keys and fathoms deep synth stabs (straight out of the john carpenter school of fathoms deep synth stabs) have already drawn comparisons to the retro 80s vibes to be heard on the american sci-fi horror series stranger things. it’s a breakdown that takes the listener to an uncharted dimension, bookended by slammin’ beats that acts as a perfect mood changer in any set. watch this one soar! “the pathway” keeps things on an all together straighter tip, an incessant tribal loop weaves and filters around a thunderous kick and shuffling hats, ebbing and flowing all the way in what might be a sagittariun’s most club-centric and stripped back production yet. matrixxman (dekmantel/spectral sound) is on hold to deliver a superb remix, pushing the original down a long dark tunnel for a growling and reverberating techno overhaul

next up on aus music is the return of label boss will saul working alongside long term label favourite komon. together the duo line up harmonise - a smouldering single that comes backed up with an almighty pair of remixes from osgut ton mainstay nick höppner and analogue aficionados juju & jordash. the title track kicks things off with glowing, interweaved synths and a pattering tom line. vocal snippets and trippy delays suffuse a purposeful bass tone before the 101 dub version rolls out with punchy drums and a sharp, darting acid line. berghain regular nick höppner then does what he does best with his remix in building a rich, hypnotic groove that steadily develops with intricacy and depth. dekmantel and golf channel regulars juju & jordash then drive a warped, rumbling synth line through spacey atmospherics rounding off another fine addition to the catalogue.

with the third release on manhigh, new altitudes are achieved by recruiting one of techno’s rising stars. best known for his work on dekmantel and ghostly international, since 2012 charles duff has attracted increasing attention for his personal and unique take on techno. originally from san francisco but now based in berlin, following his shift in locale his sound has moved on towards a more european sensibility, a mode in full display on his deep mind ep for manhigh.

kraftek is very proud to present a special edition limited vinyl pressing featuring 2 brand new remixes from label heads pleasurekraft. on the a-side, the track that first put pleasurekraft on the map and now revered as one of the all-time classics of tech house, “tarantula”. after several initial vinyl pressings all of which sold out when it first came out in 2010- this marks the first time the track is available on vinyl again. however, the real jewel in the crown here is the boys new techno take on their original. darker, harder, and meaner, the ‘7 year itch rework’ marks the 7 year anniversary of the track and showcases the musical evolution of the duo as they have gone from strength to strength, having embraced a much tougher techno sound which has brought them the enthusiastic support of icons like carl cox, adam beyer, nicole moudaber, kolsch & more. on the flip side, american techno producer charles duff aka matrixxman has seen a meteoric rise in just a few short years. from the early crosstown rebels days to matthew dear’s spectral to now being a cornerstone of the dekmantel family, here he gets his track -the spell- a steroid injected remix from pleasurekraft. while the beautiful ethereal hook of the original remains intact, the drums and new supporting synth lines make for a behemoth of a canvas for the lead to shine on. we are very proud to present this special limited edition kraftek vinyl series vol 2.

london/lisbon label release/sustain start the year as they mean to go on. presenting a 4 track various artists 12’’ titled _nightfall and other stories_. the record is comprised of 4 artists the label regard as legends of that deeper dance floor sound. opening proceedings on a1 is *dekmantel* mainstay *vakula*. a regular at the release/sustain ‘conclave’ parties and part of the rs family his offering, _809,_ is a percussive drum tool trip of a track, with sporadic raw percussion shooting shining across a positively minimalist backing. for a2, we see italian stalwart of underground dance music, *l.i.e.s* & *crème organization* regular, *simoncino*. obscure sample work, and a repeating line ‘i can use a friend’, twist and turn over rugged, thumping, functional drums and bass. simoncino at his best! furthering the quality of this standout 12’’ is chicago house music pioneer, and *dance mania* alumini *vincent floyd*. rich in melody and familiar classic house sounds, reggie’s soft jacking house sound bring a silky smooth, north american touch to a previously rugged, european 12 slab of wax. rounding things off we have *clone*, *prime numbers* & *deep explorer* badman, *reggie dokes*. a cut riddled with percussive and quirky undertones enjoy!

ltd 2017 repress , arriving shortly after midlands double feature ep, the 2nd release on the his newly launched regraded imprint comes in the form of the sanctified ep from new comer hubie davison. first hearing sanctified played out in the blurry confines of glastonburys nyc downlow, it became a staple of midlands sets throughout the summer. having witnessed it reduce dance floors from panorama bar to dekmantel festival to smiling heaps he contacted hubie to see if he would consider it for the second release on the label. the b-side entitled watchasay swiftly followed and regrd002 was realised, heavy sampling, disco breaks and great edits align it perfectly with the labels manifesto.

new york collective sheik ’n’ beik follow up a slew of lauded 12 inchs from japans keita sano, legowelt & xosar and their previous effort from hermans with the richly emotive return of voiski. with a back catalogue of considerable depth - one that’s touched the likes of l.i.e.s and delsin, dekmantel’s ‘ufo’ series - voiski’s latest offering carries with it a trademark degree of bite whilst remaining balanced with the sort of moody melodicism that fans both old and new will relish. ‘5th dolphin transmission’ kicks things off with a tense sequence tumbling through granular drums and a staggered, luminescent synth line. ‘let down disco’ then dims the lights slightly with soft, buoyant melodies and flickering high frequencies that round off a nicely varied release and another solid addition to the sheik n beik catalogue.

raum musik 100 is coming from edgardo alonso better known as sakro. he is hailing from mexico and we have been following his work for quite some time now. therefor we are quite happy that we finally found the perfect match of tracks to put this single together. the title track of the ep „no time to explain“ already attracted a lot of attention during the summer when a handful of djs that were lucky enough to already have it, have been dropping the tune on some bigger stages and festivals and it quickly became a sought after track. we are very happy about our 100th release and as always we hope you enjoy the music as much as we do. cheers and happy birthday raum !

reissue of this 20y old timeless classic with a new basic soul unit rmx on the b-side!almost two years ago we reissued dj boom kinda kickin with an extra efdemin remix on curle-p06. because y all loved it so much, we decided to reissue two more matthew herbert deep house goodies. after the very well received linkwood remix of see you on monday it now time for one of herbert s biggest records deeper, from the iconic part two ep, 20 years old but still timeless! on remix duties is basic soul unit, who saw his album released on dekmantel end of last year. we knew he was good, but his remix exceeded each and any of our expectations.

und, mor elian is a relatively new name on the block, but her deft tastes have seen her share the stage with the likes of kerri chandler, mike dunn, seven davis jnr, dj qu and many more, and most recently, releasing her debut vinyl release on the excellent prime numbers label, featuring fxhes ob ignitt on remix duties. on drum vortex, mor strikes a killer release for hypercolour, enlisting two big remixes on the release from joey anderson and markus suckut. on her original mix, drum vortex rolls out a ricocheting drum workout that indeed goes through the vortex, otherworldly voices and cosmic drones sit in the middle of the mix whilst the rides and hats intensify. joey anderson has proven himself as one of the most diverse house producers out there, with offerings for dekmantel, syncrophone recordings and tanstaafl planets. joey remodels drum vortex into an old style warehouse dub, rolling congas and snares with incessant synth stabs and bending strings, making up for one serious remix from mr. anderson. another interpretation is on offer from markus suckut, whose techno prowess has shone for labels like rekids, be as one, mosaic and his own exile label (run with johannes heil)

london modular alliance is the raw and unpredictable music project from the uk’s best known, dedicated modular synth shop london modular. its members simon lynch, phil ventre and gavin pykerman met through a shared passion in modular synthesisers. impromptu gatherings and jams soon turned into live performances at clubs, festivals and museums. from the hushed environs of the tate modern and v&a to vast sweatboxs such as fabric, bloc, freerotation, weather and berghain, london modular clearly have a flair for all things modular. this year sees a return to bloc weekender as well as new adventures at festivals such as dekmantel. they create an intense live show with a huge setup of self-assembled modular gear. every set starts with one small looping beginning – a patch – and is expanded into a deep sonic landscape. with the use of cables they build unexpected circuits and explore the power of pure electronic sounds without the use of a digital software infrastructure. no laptops, no button pushing, everything is created on the spot using modular synthesizers and is based on live improvisations. overall lma tries to keep its live sets in the dark: unrecorded, off the internet and only for those who are present in the moment. a clear break with the capture-all mentality of the internet age.

bosh! matrixxman, who has appeared on labels such as dekmantel and unknown to the unknown, comes through utterly correct and most vertical with his debut album for sam valenti s ghostly international stable - by now an institution of electronic dance music worldwide.

matrixman (spectral sound / dekmantel / ultramajic) delivers a submerged reimagining that world-premiered on xlr8r. severino (of horse meat disco) and hifi sean deliver a galloping up yours remix, and rotciv (unterton / luv shack) adds funky basslines to his outta sight version. the limited edition of 330 copies is hand stamped and hand numbered, and a large, heart-shaped hard ton sticker is included with every copy.

galdoors announces its 5th release, from label boss junes. after a run of successful eps featuring artists such as elgato, leif and audio werner, young uk producer junes steps up with three diverse cuts that push forward the labels emerging sound. despite its relative youth, the label has developed a distinctive aesthetic through minimalist, hypnotic house tracks that are making waves on both sides of the water, heavy support has come from big-boy jocks like ben ufo, daniel bell and mike huckaby. earlier this year, co-owner tamess gal004 release featured on joy orbison’s radio 1 essential mix and ben ufos dekmantel festival promo video, establishing the labels forte for delivering the best productions of its co-owners. gal005 is no exception, with junes developing his sound through an assured three-tracker. root pattern leads the way: a killer groove that cuts perfectly through an undulating melodic soundscape. on the flip, transfer bubbles over - playful yet threatening - and iced finishes off with a broken slab of soundsystem tension.

this compilation spanning a period of 37 years features burnt friedmanÕs releases and edits thereof from vinyl-only labels (latency (fr), marionette (ca), dekmantel (nl) amongst others) plus 4 hitherto unreleased tracks, making them available on digital formats. friedmanÕs music from 1980 to 2017 covers a broad spectrum of played and programmed rhythmic styles that traverse not only club music from techno, electro and dub, but, above all, trace friedmanÕs own artistic development. a trajectory that owes a lot to his long-standing collaboration with can drummer jaki liebezeit, who died at the age of 79 in 2017. like liebezeit, friedman already explored even and uneven rhythms back in the late 1980s. this selection of 17 tracks documents this pursuit while bringing rough or discarded tracks to light, which did not fit onto any album or were intended for the nonplace label. the compilation runs the entire gamut of his work on percussion, keyboard, samplers and toys of all kinds using various production methods (tape, atari, midi, sampler, hard disk recording, digital audio tape). studio work (instant-composition, programming and recording) underwent major technological changes and revolutions in the 1980s and 1990s, but friedmanÕs distinctive signature style prevails throughout. surprisingly danceable tracks, interrupted by alien atmospheric periods, defy any genre.
