the munich-based duo mrad is a full hardware generated techno project and delivers here the frst release of their label tuesday slump. their 3 track debut ep keeps all promises and shows us the widespread variety & full range of their work. the a side only comes as a heavy jacking bigroom foorburner. a mighty 303 bass line, hissy hihats & mechanical noises make this track to a perfect techno trip for the late night hours. resident on the b side is a rough and catchy cut whereas hazen takes us on a spaced-out excursion with its beautiful & atmospheric synths. this is raw, this is analogue, this is munich city!

matt nowak drops a trio of mesmerising techno tracks on his zaijenroots imprint this june with appearances from sebastian klenk and jerome sydenham. matt nowak inaugurated the zaijenroots discography under his no mad ronin moniker alongside jerome sydenham in 2013, before reappearing for the second release with quiet daze (ian pooley) on remix duties. as the label returns for its third outing nowak pairs up with german producer sebastian klenk whilst distinguished veteran sydenham carves up a remix. *aleister* sees nowak and klenk create an acosmic track that initiates with a touch of funk before sullen synths make way for punchy sp-1200 beats and unsettling throbs. sydenham provides a rendition of no mad ronin *chemical planet* from zaijenroots second release, featuring a perennial hook joined by intangible spoken samples and a subtle sub bass. lastly *lenore* ties things together with a subterranean cut abundant with echoes and spacey atmospherics.

here one of his big hitters let me go feat. elif biçer gets remixed by deep house legend fred p, as well as leo cubanero and deadbeat. new york s soul people boss and underground talent fred p goes rst and unsurprisingly his track is spiritual and way below the surface, with emotive female vocal coos and skipping drums all laced up in mesmerising and soulful pads. then comes leo cubanero, who has been producing on label like festplatten and nachtfrequent since 2003, and he ips the track into a liquid tech house affair with libidinous vocals and freaky synths and pads that add as spooky air to proceedings. lastly, montrealer deadbeat lays down a sublime minimal dub remix that is gooey and lazy, elastic and seductive in all the right ways, especially when the sexy vocal comes in

title track joyride kicks things off with a straight up 909 beat, complete with scifi sweeps and classic wood block percussion, quickly working its way into an very subtle groove with every element working effectively to keep it fully funk laden. sideways completes the a side of the release and gets going right from the beginning. pumping percussion takes hold and hits the ground running before a perfectly weighted synth hook lashes over the top with henning playing with the synths lfo to creative effect. dust takes things down a notch as swirling pads drape themselves over a serious 909 beat. henning lets this one loop out, letting the subtle variations in the synths do the work as the 909 holds the beat solid and reminiscent of early berlin/detroit dub techno crossovers. mars attacks closes of the ep and does so in particularly fine fashion. a more broken beat affair this time from henning and he really works his machines into a sonic warfare of bass tones and tweaked out synths that sear through the crashing percussion workout.

after absolutely killin it for sound signature, ndatl, wild oats, and apron, jay daniel launches his own label, watusi high. coming in hot from the detroit scene, he expertly combines synths and samples he takes a jump on that special detroit sound concurrently funky and mind melting.

acid, no wave and experimental house producer drvg cvltvre has been busy recently. after releasing with chris moss acid on shipwrec in 2014, vincent koreman then served up a full ep of his own, on dutch label cos_mos and is now back once again with a new four track affair on pinkman that comes two years after he offered up the label’s first ep in 2013. up first, * my houz* is a swampy house track with heavy drums, whirring machines and white noise textures all adding up to an intense affair that sounds like little else. then comes * tyranny of the gods* , a slow tempo but high impact track that builds and builds on a nerve lead synth line as frazzled bass props things up from below. dark and weird, occult and rave, its another unique proposition. on the flip, * sleepdealer* is an unbalanced house track with taught, tight bass and is shot through with laser like synths. serene and spaced out, it makes way for closer * crack spirit guide* which is a noisy, intense and brooding fusion of crisp percussion, big walls of synth and chattering drums that really have you on edge. once agin, then, drvg cvltvre has come up with the idiosyncratic goods.

raam is back with ep 2 where he delivers the massive hidden, a classic dub-driven techno banger. with its stabby synths and 4/4 rhythm its devastating on the dance floor. on the flip hidden gets a remix treatment from the talented baba stiltz (studio barnhus). baba buries the original into a deeper, sonic gritty journey. the ep ends with pallas which is a slow and raw house track with a moody atmosphere.

the new sagat is truly emotional: the drums are neat and the sounds are warm. tight groovy rhythms travelling within layers of the deepest dark dub without sounding evident or tried. familiar but new. precise funk made of techno frequencies. reverb and delays that bring butter to your ears: melting the earth onto your body. *melt* is a body: it has a rhythmic pattern and synths that pop up like a breathing living organism. *earth* is the landscape: you can visualize it. *organs* is your brain thinking about a better dance world and *body* is what is left to dance in the way old gescom vynils used to.

yahshu is seeking something he has never heard before, bringing influences into his work from a huge spectrum. created using a combination of live strings, samples and synths, the three tracks on somebody elses dream invite the listener to witness a conversation of sound, as if one sound was asking a question and another answering it. what that conversation is, well let the listener decide. the ep was originally written 10 years ago but has since been developed and refined, finally coming to life through rysunku. yahshu is also the founder of rysunku. somebody elses dream is the first release on the label. rysunku releases innovative sound work in very limited numbered vinyl editions. somebody elses dream artwork by artist connie prantera and design by renowned art collec- tive tomato

where -oh year- takes you more to the funky side, -dayrun- is a more techno influenced trip to the dephts of the night. with the hypnotic synths and wobbly bassline it invites you to loose yourself in the dance. on the other side, the detroitesque strings, that glimpse up during the break and the pushing hihats, it leaves you with a smile and your hands in the air. to complete this fabulous ep, markus throws in some percussion and extra deep basslines on -pingel pangel snop-. a track that is filled up with funk & soul, designed to be nothing but a house track with a twinkle in one s eye. a true groove monster.

first up here is kenloto, a chunky bit of bass driven house with crisp perc. it builds to a nice tense peak with lots of loose, jumbled textures and will make for a fine bit of peak time listening. the other original is whack, which is another tough house cut with firm bass, old school new jersey snare patterns and rolling drums that are rich, warm and rubbery. miguel lobo s remix is a more spritely thing with lithe chords, colourful synths and and a pent up energy that just never stops giving. closing out the fantastic package is paul c & paulo martini who remix kenloto into a trippy affair with ghoulish voices, hard hitting drums and lots of dark wave energy that will carry you late into the night.

early support from raresh, fred p. julietta, dana ruh!! after a first year of spellbinding releases, sol asylum returns in 2015 with a fresh various artist’s compilation featuring three finely crafted tracks from the sol asylum crew to kick-start the labels second year. bringing together a family of artists who have been there since the very beginning. starting off with the odd boys danny and damian, we go all the way back to the first release with a brand new remix of broken spell. whisking us away to a parallel universe of this odyssey, this remix is masterly conjured into a percussive exploration of the planet of odd. following the odd ones, julie marghilano unleashes another side of sol asylum with dragon drops. she unveils her known atmospheric soundscapes but with a heavily detailed rhythmic twist, made by experimenting with her field recordings to create a more stripped down sound that shows her range and versatility. last but certainly not least, miss jools calima brings the ep to a triumphant closure like a mystical fog. the elements of the track melt into drowning synths with crackling percussion and the elegantly designed grooves that levitate us steadily through the hypnotic melodies. the percussive strength of each track, while still being diverse links this collaboration of like-minded family members together as a cohesive potion.

creme organization turn to the mysterious ivvvo and lisbon producer lake haze for a new single that comes backed with a remix from label regular legowelt. the single 1 is a hard hitting but fuzzy, misty and hugely spacious house track with deep jacking drums, haunting synths spiralling all around and freaky voices buried deep within. hugely atmospheric and lovably imperfect, it then gets remixed by legowelt. his version of the track flips it on its head, strips back some of the white noise fuzz and reimagines it as a driving techno cut with impish chords, retro arps and high pressure stabs. its a peak time bomb and ensures that this release is a high impact one indeed.

the globally trendsetting house and techno family that is visionquest now turns to a new pairing of sonny fodera & gene farris for their debut ep on the label. entitled ‘we work it’, the two-track affair comes with a remix by visionquest man lee curtiss. australian sonny fodera has been at the sharp end of the dance music scene for years now, clocking up huge hits both solo and with green velvet aka cajmere, releasing albums such as afterparties & aeroplanes and appearing on cajual, defected, suara and many more top labels. gene farris, of course, is a chicago house legend who has been active since the nineties, runs his own farris wheel label and has released close to one hundred definitive eps on relief, soma and many others. up first, ‘we work it’ is a lithe ritual of house funk with bent synths and slick mid tempo drums. a spoken word vocal snippet muses on the intake of various substances and the drums roll on infectiously below. it’s sure to be a standout anthem in the months to come given that vocal line and the spiritualness of the keys all around only adds to the effect. the first remix comes from lee curtiss. this one is a much quicker and more peak time bit of tech house with textured, dynamic bass and plenty of drum fills. it’s an involved, more cosmic and tense take on the original, that will build great pressure on the dance floor. all in all this is another on point package from visionquest that will get played far and wide

2 sleazy, obscure, top shelf chicago basement tracks of the highest order here, dug straight from the trax archives of 1988 & refreshed for 2015! fantasy is a creeping, sinister, rough hewn spoken word banger that has all the things we love about these tunes, dark synths, frenetic drum programming & those lyrics! classic material indeed from short lived production outfit pleasure zone. flip it over for the b-side i cant understand & an instantly familiar vibe jumps out at you, the raw claps, basic melodies & the story of a lover left high & dry recounted over tough jacking rhythms. essential! re-mastered, re-pressed & re-released with the full co-operation & participation of all rights holders.

messalina keeps up the pressure with another fantastic assortment of balearic gems including a heavy steel drum version of the classic *papa was a rolling stone*, plus *peace & war*, a throbbing afro disco groover with phat bass, funky synths, killer piano hook and a great positive message. its over to brazil on the flip with the brilliant *katarina*, a slo-mo chugger full of rio flavour edited to perfection by balearic maestro andy kidd with the promo already receiving a lot of attention in ibiza. lastly we have *crioula*, lucci capris floor friendly version of a lost jose roberto samba funk classic. top quality all the way.
