early in 2013, los angeles-based live act pharaohs dropped their debut on esp institute, island time, along with tornado wallaces esp debut thinking allowed the idea being a simultaneous release followed by the artists remixing each other. well, here we have the 4th corner of the puzzle, a perfect set of jams for the tail end of summer. on side a, pharaohs themselves revisit ahumbo, inviting the neighborhood boys over for fatty then proceeding to bang the drum, while the flip side gives us the tornado wallace take on if it ever feels right, a beast of a track that nibbles but never really bites, a classy tension-builder, perfect for transitioning into.

we’re really excited about this unusual ep from the unusually talented photomachine, his first outing on wicked bass. ‘black motorcycle’ a dark but deep number, measuredly working its way down into to a solid groove before it lifts its eyes skyward for a breakdown made up of delicate synthwork. ‘good news…bad dope’ is a more skittish cut, with its percussive elements laying low in the mix, whilst circling synths provide a menacing mood that juxtaposes itself with a well-placed vocal sample.

once again its time for a new addiction to the paragram family. the second paragrams release of 2014 is in the care of phred, a new artist we are really glad to have on board.

maricopa returns to back to the balearics to complete his stunning opus, pastel love. and he continues where he left off building deeply textured songs packed full of simple melodies that really shine. his music opts for subtle feelings and passing vibes over the more obvious structures of dance music. the release of part one led to a number of comparisons with the early work of aphex twin as well as more contemporary producers such as four tet. such comparisons dont come lightly, but pastel love demonstrates that a rare musical talent has arrived. the release again has beautiful printed covers and looks as good as it sounds. viva maricopa!

gravitas, talib kwelis sixth solo album, began to take shape in may, during the weeks following the release of kwelis fifth solo album, prisoner of conscious. loaded with guests, prisoner of conscious was well received and reviewed, and gained talib many new fans to add to his already large following. however, kweli soon found himself wanting to record more personal material and really document his journey thru music. when singer ryan leslie, who created the platform that kweli is using to sell gravitas, approached him with the idea of selling direct to fan, songs that were just rough ideas began to fully form in kwelis head.

tartelets latest comes from glenn astro. currently residing in essen, he has spent a bit more than half his life djing and producing, first in the realm of hip-hop and more recently with an ear toward dance music. after his first releases in this style in 2011 and 2012, glenn really went for it in 2013 with a trio of eps that showed hip-hops soul and house musics drive are in no way mutually exclusive. this 26-year-old may embrace the latter these days, but when you close your eyes and let his gritty low-end do its dirty work, you will hear plenty of the formers bump still kicking around in there.

last years precursors ep from eduardo de la calle provided quite a curveball release for cadenza records, the spanish dj and producer who has recorded exclusively for his analogue solutions label in the past, turned out a warm and minimal release for lucianos imprint, with all the flair and trademarks of eduardos studio prowess. really though, eduardos approach to electronic music perfectly encapsulates the sound ethics of cadenza emotive, driving, long passages of deep rhythm, often focusing on the bare essentials of a track and enunciating these for an aural joyride

second release of parallel pain records. here introduces new faces to label. the single, a mental techno slow-burner titled *radioactivity*, comes from the spanish artist psynth, a seriously deep work produced from this amazing artist. in addition we can find a remix by miki craven the spanish tresor (berlin) ambassador, who inject the original with a shock of jacking technoid. a really good bomb! ends this great release the talented dominants track, no lower one than the original, dominant does his best with a acid pumping remix full of dark shynthis.

japenese guy, takeshi kouzuki is well known for his productions on mathematics, abstract acid or hotmix. he has demonstrated his talent as a producer on every single track he has released. and we are really glad to deliver this ep with 3 awesome tracks of >nu-chicago house<, acid and jakbeat music, be certain that the voodoo is this wax. whirlwind will hypnotize you with its beautiful acidic melodies. * aoiro* is a massive jakbeat raw track on which you can feel the influence of traditional japanese music, absolute dancefloor killer! moon is just beautiful in all those points, it will put you in the trance, takeshi is a master of perfection so far!

bobby o donnell, it should be noted, really brings his agame to the table on the release. much like the title suggests, its an ep thats full of lucid moments, with blissful moments of tranquility wonderfully rubbing shoulders with more introspective and melancholic fare throughout.
