with its lush live string and horn section, can’t stop loving you when originally released in 1990 was an immediate favorite in the uk, and represented famed house producer marshall jefferson’s movement toward utilizing live instrumentation in his productions. the track was released right around the time the kiss fm london launched as a legal radio station, and richard was support talent at the radio station launch party in hyde park london that was headlined by fellow chicagoans ten city.
the track also represented one of the last releases on the relaunched sam records imprint, before michael weiss ceased releasing new titles on sam and started nervous records.

a rainy night in the autumn, bottenvikens silverkyrka recorded with the cantor olof petrus in umea city church. improvisation and inspiration resulted in stadskyrkan ep which features four organ-and-techno-driven acid tracks with themes on collectivity, techno spirit and world-wide movement. stadskyrkan ep is the third chapter of the three-o-trinity, the revivalist acid series released by the duo, succeeding det stora uppvaknandet and arken. bottenvikens silverkyrka is a northern sweden congregation that preaches through their machine music: acid techno infused with the message of eternity in the tradition of the swedish revival movement.

so gerd and philipp were due to play xoyo one saturday night and the club is 6 minutes from my studio so i suggested we go there first to make tunes for a few hours. we made 2 songs that night and one of them is ‘reach out’. gerd did the drums on my 808, philipp wrote the beautiful lead part on my obxa and i did the bass in my cs80. i added the words a couple of weeks later, they are inspired by leonard cohen’s letter to his muse marianne ihlen on her deathbed. 2nd ep from david kitts new jackson yous lp released in march this year a mini lp of sorts featuring 5 new tracks! according to david: like lightning was written after a late night/early morning adventure with friends in galway city a good few years ago now. i always find it hard to choose singles but this seemed to be lot of people s favourite album track. i ve availed of every last second of space on the 10 inch to turn this release into a mini-album of sorts with three quite different instrumentals one part folk, one part modular electronic and one recorded using two buddah boxes in the glasgow underground. there are also two unreleased songs that have knocking around the hard drive for a while but fit nicely on this release.

kim rapatti a.k.a mono junk presents the second volume of finnish electro all-star on his dum records imprint – active since 1992. the new release is the latest chapter of mono junk collaborating with friends, recently with mesak and freestyle man. the a-side of finnish electro all-star (dum-040) features collaborations with top finnish electro duo morphology, who recently released an outstanding album on firescope label. electro por favor is a pulsating driving electro track with a killer bassline and vocals by rapatti – electro at its best. raw, apocalyptic, solitary remix by mono junk follows the original. the b-side features collaborations between mono junk and a very special guest: goner a.k.a. martin maischen, who is known from many hot releases as the other half of german electro act sandbenders. they were at most active around the millennium and made releases for force inc. music works and science city. the two included tracks are deep electroid techno excursions made last year in berlin – very cool stuff.

goldbrick records third release comes from irish duo ringolevio. made over the course of a few months in various rooms around dublin, the record sways from playful electro to straight up jams with a few emotions in between. as more and more young people can’t afford to live in dublin city, ringolevio has some advice: eat your landlord, stone the dáil, defecate in the banks, moon the dup, hammer neo-liberalism, repeal the fuck out of the eighth, vandalise the donut shops.

in 1989, an italo-house act sueño latino released a self titled track, which went on to become one of the most revered electronic music records of all time. louis botella is now set to release a sensational remake on emerald city this september. the track itself samples part of manuel göttsching’s influential e2-e4, an album known for its role in the development of house and techno. fast forward to 2018 and the record is again set to be revived thanks to louis botella, and with the blessing and support of göttsching and expanded music. on his interpretation of the track, louis has stayed true to the original, replaying each part and adding an extra dimension to the tracks through a sparkling piano topline, a new vocal hook and dreamy arpeggiations. louis’ passion for the art of djing was sparked from a young age. at sixteen he got his first gig at a club in luxemburg and released his first record in 1998. since then, he’s released on respected labels such as classic music company, ovum records and poker flat recordings.

born in munich, sebastian schnitzenbaumer aka belp partially grew up on the seychelles islands off the coast of east africa. educated in classical piano, those two gravitational poles, european and african influences, became the basis for his musical development. having travelled extensively with a closer connection to london over the years, belp kept his base in munich, becoming part of a small alternative scene questioning the predominantly rich and posh surface of the city. blending jazz, dub and noise, an emphasis on darkness in his broken beat oriented works evolved as a reaction to a rather hedonistic society preferring warm and uplifting sounds.
