5 years ago back in february 2003 in montmartre (paris, france) pedro winter aka busy p created the ed banger record label. most of the artists have been discovered by pedro, and often live near the labels office. over the past 2 years the rise of the label has been something like a phenomenon, with all artists being on a worldwide tour (dj and/or live) at sold out venues, each appearance always long awaited and celebrated like a the coming of the messiah by thousands of raging kids from each and every part of the world. drawing on the street energy of hip hop, rocks explosion and hypnotic compression of techno music, but remaining open to all other influences, the sound of the label, mostly electronic and saturated, has become a trademark, registered worldwide. justice, busy p, uffie, feadz, mehdi, dsl, oizo, vicarious bliss, mr flash, krazy baldhead, sebastian and so: mes post cartoon imaging are practically pop culture icons, especially within the new web media (myspace, blogs, forums) where ed banger remain one of the unbeatable masters of its use. this third volume of the labels own compilation features 12 new tracks and mixes.

for our eleventh release we have no other than esperanza s own jorge savoretti. after making some collabs for the label, he s finally delivering his expected solo ep. for this one, he mixed a wide variety of soundscapes and influences with precise coherence developing his trademark forward thinking sound even further. there are lots of words used to describe tracks but for this baby is really hard to find ones ccurate enough, maybe some hints would be, futuristic, intricate, martian, tribal

apologist hails from the holy land of cosmic disco italy. behind the name apologist (wave music) we find the producers brusca and sam perez. they started to gain recognition with their dark, progressive thriller of a cut called ghouls & ghosts on h plus in 2004, the duo has released productions and remixes together, separately and under different names on quality labels like yoshitoshi, baroque, swift, restart, wave music, but they dont limit themselves to sinister grooves of that nature. while their style is always epic with sweeping synthesizers and digital drama and effects, apologist is showing their sensual, dubbier side with this exlusive release of pycairo records.

saulted is a big bad bruising wobbling b line mother of a tune, that absolutely rocks a dancefloor, we cant wait for you to hear this one. side b sees rob reng do his excellent work on remix duties, bringing it more to the mainstream clubber, really nice production but keeping the grit of the original.

million dan is the man of the moment. with his killer album on the streets he is quite rightly regarded as the top uk mc right now. this little 7 inch is not as cheeky as it sounds. sam webster (aka sloth from headcount records) was working on some admin with the million dappa records team and when he heard the scream out original track he was really into it, but felt it could do with a re-rub that brought the energy out of million dans vocal delivery.

truffle music (toronto) returns with the voices (plant music) releasing their first e.p. isince 2005 and following up on the initial success of their sure thing/street commander eps on nycs plant music. cavern is a disco punk stomper that builds from the start with sizzling 4/4 live drums, bass, keys and a hypnotic subdued vocal that build to an apex only to break down and come back harder on the instrumental tip. spooky is a tripped out instrumental that is slower in tempo and heavy on the pychedelic. featuring all live instrumentation, this track takes you on a twisted journey. l.a.s woolfy (rong, permanent vacation) takes on the remix with his epic woolfy neu rave disco mix and he delivers just that with a speed up stormer that is over twice as long as the original and has a faint scent of old warehouse days but takes it forward with an interesting arrangement and eclectic instrumentation.

peter grummich (kompakt/shitkatapult/mule electronics/karloff... ) comes up with his debut on progcity deep trax with two beautiful cuts. mountain paces into your ears with a deep wobbling groove, hypnotised by some nice floating synths, flying over the peaks of the hills. on the flipside peter shows his other side in form of lost, a slice of deep techy, but still warm and typically grummerized sound. perfect music for early outdoor parties and neverending clubnites.

the legendary club u60311 in frankfurt has opened up a brand-new hotspot for minimal right in the heart of the city, going by the name of 311. paired with this, an affiliated label - dreielf recordings - has also been launched. the residents michael kohlbecker, one part of the saafi brothers, and frankfurts newcomer peter eilmes are releasing the fruits of their cooperation in their home studio, and putting an already-established scene hit onto vinyl with - tabasco. the original of the record impresses with its anthemic character, which may have been due to the fat bass-line and the striking trumpet. despite its monotony, a real jewel for every record case and just the stuff to get happiness dripping from the club ceiling. the remix by alexi delano, on the other hand, is somewhat deeper and more melodic at the same time, but still contains all the ingredients necessary for a proper shot of tabasco. sonic monogamy or fat kick basses make this remix unique. the dominant trumpet and the scraping percussion of the berliner andre crom make this remix an absolute guarantee of ecstasy. tabasco is hot and burns like hell!

2x 15mins of ultra hypno house!! big with ricardo villalobos, prins thomas, laurent garnier,… unarguably, the best way to prepare umu is inside a hole in the ground. go find a nice flat land, preferably your mother in laws lawn, gather friends, ask them to bring wine. youll need a well amplified turntable playing mania #11 on a loop. cut the grass using a flat shovel, four or six square pieces of 50 cms, lifting the grass with its roots and some soil, move aside. now you have a clean area of about 1.5 mts square, dig in it to a depth of about 50 cms (come on, it will make you sweat profusely but you need this shallow grave to feel the magik of easter islands umu!).

after releases from heavy hitters such as two armadillos, solomun and andomat3000 the mantle now falls to new boy class71 with his double a-side >seaphone/diamond door<. well, it would do if he was really the new boy, but he s not. in fact, this new artist is an alias of italian producer santos, who has pretty much done it all in house, techno and every other genre we could lazily list. rounding things off with a respectful nod to classic techno via moody stabs, lazy melodies and an airtight arrangement in the form of >diamond door<, it seems like class71 is a bit of a name to watch. don t take our word for it though, ame, sasse, djinxx and agnes are already backing this winner.

the skull returns to kindisch with four impeccably sultry and leftfield dancefloor cuts. >must have back< is silky, chicaning mix of ice-cool male vocals and slick, vacuum-packed percussion that will prove devastating to discerning dancefloors, while >lalalala< is a raw, spaced-out house jam that serves up spry, bouncy congas, wobbly bass and clipped hi-hat patterns with no small amount of dubby echo and delay. >forever ever< is a wonderfully trippy slice of minimal techno, a heady bass and percussion workout haunted by the blue, smoky ghosts of jazz keys. be careful - you may well find yourself hypnotized forever ever.the mood is less abstract but no less intense or inviting for deep, reverb-laden closing track >lovesong<. an insistent kick-drum and mind-bending fx make this prime dancefloor material, but the mood of the track is more complex - wistful, pining, mindful of the past, expectant of the future - a lovesong through and through.

after his huge success >smokemachine< on freak waves jaxson is back with a release on one of his favourite labels. >miami flys< is a housy summer tune that fit perfect in the keno records style and will rock the clubs and open airs in 2008. hotspot is more stripped down and hypnotic but this time less is more again. piemont, the two guys from hamburg who released on labels like my best friend, hi freaks or yellow tail do what they can do best: they turn this track into a real club bomb..

the polytechnics ep is the second release on df by silver city following the superb dubby ep from 2006. on the a side, the title track polytechnics has electrofunk vibes blending perfectly with new wave sensibilities. think greg wilson mixing up gary numan and you wont be far off. it rocks! and on the flip, nu disco don pete herbert (reverso 68/lsb) cuts up pendulo a heavily arrpegiated disco stormer and transforms it into yet another disco bomb. this was an edit that pete knocked together for his own dj sets and we loved it so much we just had to put it on the vinyl. last, but in no way least, is victoria jam which is a no nonsense heads down groover of a track that will get your dancefloors rocking. seriously good music. enjoy! plays by: ashley beedle, llorca, fabrice lig, electric press, reverso 68, munk, murray richardson, ajello, dubious...

sonotheque is david campanini and alexi dendias as a producer and live duo that already has released a couple of reputable records on tenax records and on their own label sunplay. >get in trouble< is the name of the first 12 produced for doxa records that reveals two tracks from their sonic laboratory in florence and one remix by akiko kiyama (contextterrior, safari, lick my deck). get in trouble on side a is a sensitively produced minimal house track driven by a positive sub feeling. circus fm and circus fm remix on the side b keep it funky, minimal, but have got more a trance spirit that leads directly into after hours.
