ok we can do a long text here... but lets not do that.... fantastic track by recast (aka fluxion)! a blissed-out track that is lush and jazzy! the experience of years of precision crafting dubby tech soundscapes is brought to these tracks, which are grooving house vibes executed in the melodic but quirky manner of isolee or luomo. lorca music is on remix duty here and did a great job with a clattering, skittering groove that is somewhere between 2-step and brokenbeat, the result is heavy and provides a nice alternative to the two recast versions. this is pure techno as we like it... not the banging big room techno, but techno we know from pioneers such as derrick may, carl craig, john beltran, stefan robber and the likes. no shit... this is just one of the most beautiful records we ve heard in a while.

after the success of the first release, max duke gives us another great deep ep on delphine records. full of moody and jazzy vibes.

aah, how we have missed them! the fine young gentlemen that are channel x, two of stil vor talents most active producers of meticulously crafted and deeply energetic tech-house smash hits. and just in time for the open-air season they now come back with two very convincing pieces of dancefloor art. first up is >little symphony<, an epic space opera that takes it cues from early 90s techno and mixes it up with post-modern grooves and beats. the wide and open spaces are filled with some very hymnal string patterns that are given a final treatment with a reverbed and high-pitched vocal sample. contrast that with the rather jittery beat and a subbass as deep as the frequencies will go and you got yourself a substantially clear bit of techno that is best imagined when it is dark and only some beams of air tell you where you are. channel x do not produce, they direct and all of the sounds are their actors! on the flip things get more light-hearted and set for the daylight hours as well. >steamboat willie< is a heavily sample-orientated swinging piece of jack. the rhythm guitar lead the way on top of a clap-based loop that sets the basis for some very jazzy interpretations along the way. clarinets, trumpets, percussions, brass, effects and even some talking vocal samples are all allowed to join in this hedonistic big band that is at play. this is one for the sunshine, this is one for the smiles on the faces, this is one to feel instantly good about yourself and everything around you. two very different tracks on this ep, but both equally stand out for themselves

for all the wonderfully subtle shell-breaking he did on his full-length, mark e falls back on old, slow habits for his new single, >the day<. and welcomely, we might add. pitching things down to a basement lounge floor crawl, the midlands dj/producer wraps his always chugging kicks and snares in serpentine synth-bass, jazzy, tripleted hi-hats, and moaning, wordless soul vocals. its grasp is tantric—hinting coyly at ecstatic release, but never fully delivering. for the vinyl junkies that bought stone breaker and missed out on it the first time around (it was absent from that version), this release should be a no brainer. but >the day< isnt carrying all the weight here. a new track called >special fx< will have sample hounds—particularly those with a thing for classic electro-pop—salivating. and the oft imitated, never replicated prins thomas shows up on the flip for a (naturally) eleven- minute revamp of >the day<, livening up the bass and drum patterns, adding in strings, piano, guitar, organ, and ending up with something that totally could have emanated from a camaro at some point in the early seventies. (albeit, one owned by someone with interest in eleven-minute instrumentals.) it even has a fade out!

his debut four track ep highlights his individual approach to song writing with the gorgeous, deep and moody >i am machinery<, a fitting title for a track where the human voice integrates seamlessly into the analogue electronics of the machines. >pointers’ changes the mood and aims at the dancefloor, with strings and synths fully indebted to detroit techno, but with a constant human touch from his jazzy scat cutting in and out of the heavy groove. >some days< has the biggest sound on the ep with multiple vocal tracks layering over the crisp drums and pulsating synths. hes combined his keen ear for melody and a firm grasp of the dancefloor for this track, making it many djs favourite on the ep due to a club friendly structure, yet striking originality. >set myself on fire< closes the ep at a mellow tempo, and can easily hypnotise the listener with its repetitive vocals, haunting whistles and sleazy beats. this is only for the beginning for debukas, these four tracks are just an introduction to one of the finest talents from the uk electronic underground

the croatian wonderboy tristy nesh is back on absolut freak records, with the famous elektro frau xenia beliayeva. they had already met on the >little hip molecular ep< (af05), with a successful remix by beliayeva. now they come together with >acting sane<, a sweet electro excursion through dusty fields. john lord fonda, the french sensation from vitalics label citizen records, is also back on absolut freak after having done the very first remix on af01. this time, he gives a new huge remix, with even more melancholy and an amazing break. just brilliant! then, the latvian producer max brannslokker (author of some masterpieces such as the incredible >lust< on salto recordings, or >transition< on boxon records) delivers a great funky-beat version with his special jazzy vibe. back side, nicolas chenard comes again with a powerful techno sound on a smashing remix. at last, tristy nesh offers a new demonstration of his unique dirty loud sound with >turkish bass<, a dancefloor killer with no concession. vinyl lovers can enjoy the artwork by falk klemm from the zonders with a pantone color on the cover. already supported by david carretta, donovans, da fresh, teenage mutants...

the debut release of swedish artist combo (he is half of s.u.m.o. which is well known as jazzy house artist in the beginning of 2000). probably some people know his excellent edit of robert hood >minus<. the title track of a side is modern beatdown house with the emotional piano loop sound. if you like the release of the revenge or mark e, you will like this song. b1 is an old school house version of the title track and >uptown< on b2 is early new york house sound.

another month, another cool and unique r&b sound from the jukebox jam series! this time around, we feature 40s songstress with a really superb low-slung and slinky number. making its first appearance on 45rpm vinyl, >shrinking up fast< is bound to set pulses raising with its hot and seductive jazzy feel, mambo rhythm and wailing horns. yet another record which sounds not so much ahead of its time as occupying another realm altogether! the flip side >please dont stay away so long< is a worthy effort in its own right - a breezy jump blues side which also rotates around a loosely latin influenced rhythm. but as good as it is, >shrinking up fast< is the clear winner for us, an awesome, slow-burning scorcher which we are proud to be able to finally make available on dj friendly 45rpm - its going straight in out box and we would urge you to follow suit!

throne of blood present ford inc, mission 1 ... a-side >satire< recalls the deepest moments of classic transmat artists like mayday, pairing uplifting pianos with emotive synths and a propulsive vision of techno-futurism. on the flip, >delirium< lives up to its name, pairing a dissociative bassline with jazzy vamps and organic drums. eschewing the obvious big room crowdpleasing maneuvers in favor of emotional and melodic complexity, the latest on throne of blood marks the arrival of something special in dance music. keep an ear to the ground for more from ford inc later this year.

petros (aka echonomist) understood that apparel music is always looking for the jazzy. we perceive this term as a really special thing, strictly human, true. and then if the real instruments come in, like voices or saxophones, the plate is ready. >thats it< starts far away, with a solo that blends and presents the entire ep something more than one minute. everything flows, stops, gets consumed, digs. >midnight talk< brings us in the most hyper deep, unusual like the style of the artist is. an overview of evolutions that lead us to the awareness that petros is in our day, between things that go fast and others that slow down to be observed. the law of nature brings us to ali kuru remix (we move a little bit to the right from greece to turkey). habits, perceptions and tastes change. ali takes us on a mental journey, long, meditated, tidy. a motif that turns over and over, while things change all around, everything evolves, disclosing new sonar places. there is not much to say. >midnight talk< is a complete ep, wanted, constructed with care and a lot of work.

an elegant jazz and some charming turns of battery inspire kigo singing his thoughts during an afternoon in milan after a saturday night. elegant tone and bass blend completely with the typical hi-hat groove and jazzy housy old school. the original version will give an idea of how beautiful mixing deep house and jazzy grooves is… to create an elegant atmosphere suitable for underground dancefloor (chic and stylish at the same time).

the first immerse release of 2011 sees the label taking on a fresh approach while retaining the same atmospherics that have made it an essential fixture in the bristol music canon. outboxx are made up of jacob martin and matt lambert, and their sound is rooted in groovy, analogue house music. with an emphasis on jamming, theres a loose, live feel to these tracks that has an instant appeal but drags you deeper with each listen. >kate libby< kicks off on a swung beat and warm pads, before dropping down to p-funk bass and sparse synth flourishes. >berties groove< places jazzy rhodes playing at the front of the mix with a classic drum machine workout ticking away in the background. this is soulful, authentic house music with not a clinical midi pattern in earshot. despite coming from a different angle, the outboxx tracks slip neatly into the immerse legacy thus far, pointing the way for a year filled with more of the spacious, haunting club music the label has become renowned for.

soweso 009 bring us one of rumanians upcoming house-masters negru. after his amazing contribution to the soweso various artists ep last year its time for him to do his own release. on the a-side >break into the record store< is a typical negru hip hop infused house track that will surely make things bump in the night. on remix duties is pacha resident tuccillo that has brought us some of the best house tracks of last year on the isgud label. on the b-side negru teams up with his buddy boola for a jazzy house groover that begs for spring to start. welcome to the family negru! enjoy it and play it loud.

7 oz is back with a long awaited various artists ep that follows the success of mathias mestenos alcatraz. two dancefloor-oriented tracks, that sound really hot despite the cold winter, ideal for any passage of your sets. barila&lodettis el jazz del barrio takes us back to the truest deep house sound, with a jazzy mood and an ear set clearly back to the old school. the young and talented fabio even, thanks to the remix made by manu-l and paul cart, goes techno with the sharp and piercing rhythms and sounds of the explosive track undershow.

the third and final remix package for mathias kadens masterpiece album -studio 10- comes along with two reworks of mathias vakant label mates onur Özer and dewalta. onur Özers >hâre remix<, a massive, bass driven rework for kadens >chazz<, takes the track to a deeper, more jazzy level, until it fades out with a dreamy yet abstract melody after 11 minutes and counting. david koch aka dewalta takes on >ikenga< (an african god of time, success and achievement), which is surely kadens most played track of the album. david maintains the acidic vibe of the original, adds his very own funk and sends the track back to the dance floor.

vibrations is a new label set up by christopher galloway and piers harrison of roots unit. the first release comes from the ever-dependable and very busy mark e, who drops two killer jams for the dancefloor. escape is a bassline driven banger that drops into a hefty loop half-way through – large. the flip, midnight fires, is a more introspective, techno influenced cut, with crazy jazzy drums and swirling synths. we are thinking about early morning dancefloors for this one. escape is also remixed by roots unit, who add chicago house elements within a reggae aesthetic.
