restored and re-mastered from the original tapes comes gigi masins much sought after first album wind. never commercially released the lp was in fact only given away at a number of small concerts, with many of the remaining copies destroyed during floods in the venice based musicians house. quickly becoming seen as something of a landmark ambient album in recent years, ‘wind is now lovingly presented again in its entirety. true to its original private issue it is once again being made available through gigi masins very own the bear on the moon records.

“last days and time” is the third studio album by american r&b group earth, wind & fire, released in 1972, their debut album on columbia records. it was recorded at the legendary sunset sound studios in hollywood, california, with founder and multi-instrumentalist maurice white, verdine white and philip bailey. due to their live performances it cemented their status as the main funk band and set the stage for the band’s blockbuster breakthrough. songs on the album like “make it with you” (originally from bread) the pre-“brazilian rhyme” powerful funk sax style “power”, (which sounds like an early version of “serpentine fire”) and “remember the children” are excellent examples of the great songs and albums they have made during their career.

groove line records are proud to add to their 2015 releases of half-speed mastered re-issue singles with both the extended special disco version and instrumental version of earth wind & fire s 1976 funk bomb getaway gracing each side of a 180g 12” virgin vinyl disc. looking to gain on his groups critical and commercial success from the early 1970s ew&f s main man maurice white brought in the legendary charles stepney, who had tutored him at chicago s chess records in the 1960s, as the co-producer and arranger on their incredible 1976 album spirit, which opened up with the formidable funk track getaway. co-written by guitarist, vocalist and songwriter bernard “beloyd” taylor (s.o.u.l.) and songwriter peter corbelenky around the theme of escapism and self-fulfilment, the primal urgency of getaway was the ideal composition for white to record with ew&f. white felt the song s energy and positive, uplifting lyrics matched the attitude and ethos of his group perfectly. as a result ew&f created a funk gem both musically and lyrically perfect for the dance floor.
