after a wildly successful collaboration on thatmanmonkzs turn it out from the lp, columbus-ing, dave aju suggested they should continue their production streak for a new percussive tracks project. at the same time, aju had finally kept his word to legendary bay area club/underground mc and personality, foxxee aka foxxee brown aka lawrence petty, to work on a track together as well. petty being a core part of the infamous ya mamas house radio show on 106 kmel alongside pete avila and david harness that introduced legions of young bay area djs to real house music, includ-ing aju, in the early 90s.

mr. statik with previous contributions from joe claussell, move d, mr. ties, reagenz, discrete circuit and their very own away soundsystem, the berlin label away achieved a great deal of attention since its first release back in 2015. after having played at their infamous party series before, the greek all-rounder mr. statik now also debuts as a producer on away. as emphasized with releases on such labels as bpitch control, amam, or rotary cocktail, the resident of athens club six d.o.g.s draws inspiration from pop culture like science-fiction movies as well as comic books, also reflected in his rogue cherub ep. info rogue cherub ep its an open secret that mr. statik has a strong penchant for working with vocalists, and the title track is no different. starting off with an ingenious medley assembled through samples, rhythmic elements, and a funk-infused bass-line, rogue cherub ep highlights the greeks unordinary approach on house music. despite the partly broken, partly playful vibe its dave ajus distinctive voice holding everything together in a serene fashion. no less than the acknowledged master matthew herbert himself scales the hybrid down, attaching just the right disco-house touches to create yet another dance floor gem. morning star on the flipside tops off aways fifth catalogue number by a well-crafted techno-meets-dub workout unfolding mr. statiks versatile core strengths as a producer.

berlin-based producer, yapacc take on the original sees him transferring the song into a dancefloor-ready track whilst subtly maintaining the ambience of the original. off-beat house-esque sub-rhythms and a melodic bassline helps to keep the energy of the track moving forward, whilst the top end guitars and vocals keep the listener interest up until the very last second. russian-based dave pads remix also helps the original move onto the dancefloor with this incredibly funky, groovy-laiden back beat which simultaneously manages to hold onto the original tracks esthetical ambience. euphoric house stabs and a continuous layered texture sits behind the tracks groove, adding a sense of nostalgia and depth to an already emotive original.

hey everyone, dont be alarmed as we understand that you just heard of us a few weeks back. here we are again with another doobified doozie of a 12inch. from the furthest reaches of the canadian west coast comes a concoction by three well known faces that have a long history of working together, they prefer to remain anonymous for this 12inch for reasons beyond us. were not that good at keeping secrets and have a suspicion that you hear the rambling house that is emitted from this trio brings to your ears will recall something very familiar. johnny lumière and the triads, originally conceived as side characters of the adventures of t-bar and salary man cartoon (never published). the music was recorded during break intervals in the cartoon writing sessions (still seeking illustrator). file this under mystified house with a splash of sunshine. ps:weve been doing our own printed sleeves for the last few records from a really cool print house here in berlin. we think they look unique as they are a print/ fold out designed by our friend dave girard. people seem to be into them and figured we should say that as we are only doing limited runs of them.

for over a decade the us west coast innovator has been producing and performing his unique brand of electronic dance music. he seasons the rhythms of house and techno with an array of outside musical influences - notably jazz and p-funk, a low-slung aesthetic clearly rooted in hip-hop, and a sonic approach akin to music concrete. the result is a fresh and expressive sound that varies from raw and percussive to deep and melodic and is favored by an ever-increasing number of listeners, dancers and djs around the world.

earlier this year they got together at martins studio in derby to create this classic deep house number. the parts were then taken to their respective studios to create their own versions. freds mix has a more straight forward vibe to it while martin takes things to the deep end, adding dub elements to the mix.

the second and final part to mossas massive album is festine pt.2. the first part was crafted for a more big room, late night feel and for the second slab of wax were going more for the bouncier out-door, summer fun time feel. there were so many moods on this full-length that we were able to craft specific types of eps. to some this may be more of the sound they come to expect to hear from mossa but we know him best, he has flavors upon flavors, which is very obvious on this ep. hes a hard artist to stereotype, exactly why we had to have him on thema. so for this excursion we have a tango-esque dance floor prime time buner-buleria, that will make you slam tequilas like the true lushes we are. on the flip side we have pezzner of freerange and dave aju of circus company delivering some sultry, tangy, funk for the body
