the second album by valanx called >ejecta< (18-diam.) gets the remix treatment. four artists, each with their own unqiue sound, have reworked their favourite track of the album and gave the music their own twist and sound. the exaltics turns >beyond doubt< into a dark brooding metallic industrial beast with a strong and dominant sub bass line that will damage your speakers.crc, one half of the finnish electro masters morphology creates a trippy psychedelic techno epic on his take of the track >chasm< and showcases a masterpiece of drum programming and creation of atmosphere. on the flip, >trail of conjuration< gets the remix treatment by admx-71 aka adam x. his version takes the tribal aspects of the original and turns it into a dark industrial techno drenched track that immediately lets you think of an old abandoned warehouse drowned in strobe light and fog and a massive rave taking place.last but not at all least it is louis haimans turn and he creates a wonderful deep dub techno track out of >legion v2<. the sub bass and deep chords are whirling and will hypnotize the listener with endless echoes and reverbs. 300 handnumbered limited vinyl copies only. no digital distribution

nick lapiens debut release as metropolis garnered little attention when it materialized last year. a skeptical yet dedicated network of underground heads built up a subterranean buzz that has yet to spread into the daylight. that initial transmission was thick with the raw analogue flavors that have become ever-present in dance floor fare recently—but his is a sound that is dedicated to the emotive, narrative aspects of electronic music rather than simple fetishization or passing curiosity in the days of yore. this, his second release as metropolis, shows a more focused and patient hand at work. the titular track on the a side is a deep, psychedelic groover. melodies, textures and sequences undulate and intertwine within a lightless atmosphere guided by lapien with optimum restraint. equally pensive and gorgeous, the flood serves as a machine’s beat-less foil on the reverse. made up of little more than feedback and two slow, echo laden arpeggiated sequences, this is reminiscent of jean michel jarre’s more sinister moments: a brilliant paradox of economy and indulgence. expect to hear more from lapien here at sequencias. he has many more dark corners left unexplored.

for their third release, total life music masterminds thomas wood and santiago got two swiss friends on board. talented donato capozzi recently had his vinyl debut on fellow label enterbt records, while zurich underground veteran andaloop releases for the first time with this monicker. the friends ep features various aspects of house in its diversity. the 4 cuts reflect hypnotic, deep, crunchy and jazzy moods and feel like a touch of a warm summerbreeze.

canadian producer/dj nathan jonson, aka hrdvsion, has been making increasing waves in the house world over the last few years with a stream of acclaimed releases for labels such as wagon repair and international deejay gigolo, and remixes for institutions like hypercolour and crosstown rebels.
his >i like the feeling you re giving me ep< for rinse encapsulates many aspects of his sound, drawing strongly both from detroit technos woozy, melody-soaked romanticism and the precision and intricacy of minimalist european house and techno. it is an intoxicating blend. its tracks are immediate and rhythmically compulsive enough to draw dancers deep into its groove, yet find jonson continually tweaking the musics depth of field to disorient the senses.

wild oats is proud to present the kmfh debut album the boat party. after a year of collaborative releases, kyle hall, under the alias kmfh, has produced a debut album, a fusion of original work, sample tracks, and raw edits. the boat party album artwork pokes fun at european summer boat parties and juxtaposes the destitute state of detroit and its recent proneness to discarded luxury in financial crises. mainly, the inability to leave and the sometimes pleasant isolation of a boat party is what the album exudes. the listener has a certain commitment to the material which definitely has its place on the dance floor. you can find tracks that have soulful, funky, and organic feels, while others have a more abstract, mechanical, and robotic sentiments. the boat party was carefully constructed which makes the album a cohesive mix of soulful etherealness and roughly raw sounds, kmfhs cueing into the true aspects of detroit.

ununhexium (r-n 116) is the sixth release of raster-noton unun series. emptyset is a bristol based project formed in 2005 by james ginzburg, di- rector of the multiverse studios and the curator and electronic artist paul pur- gas. the project explores the legacy of analogue media, integrating aspects of rhythm, signal processing and spatial recording within the framework of mini- malist composition. their work interrogates the perceptual boundaries between noise and music and the potential for both technology and architecture to em- bed and codify themselves within sound. collapsed is emptysets first release on raster-noton and investigates the threshold where sonic structure is destabilized to the point where a chaotic order emerges out of a resistance to fragmentation and likewise explores the potential contained within this liminal space of transition. across the four tracks of the release a structural grammar is defined and then pushed to excess to the point where it reforms from repetitive and stable frameworks into non-grid based forms and ultimately chaotic rule sets.

after taking a break for more than 6 months bukaddor & fishbeck return with 2 quality tracks. >camino< unites tight and loose aspects in an exciting modern way of club music. the track works on more than one level and incorporates silly little ghosts of sounds and massive basslines and last but not least: a lot of profound sound shaping. >physx< on the b-side is much more warped, moves in way of a snake, does is surreal dreamlike and still makes these brave cuts that throw you back into life. at times this track seems to be quite dadaistic and maybe this accounts for the most experimentell track they have ever released... but it would not bukaddor & fishbeack if this track did not have a atchy clubby side to it.

>strombooty< (for details, consult your local urban dictionary) is the modern dalessandro sound, combining heady experimentation with dance floor prowess. the eps title track is a deep, yet explosive number that creeps in subtly like dark clouds on the horizon, before raining down a devastating thunderstorm over the speakers.
the latin-flavored >el tapatio< and super-deep cut >speak to me< make up the b-side. although the tracks represent different aspects of the dalessandro sound, the commonality they share is a thoughtful approach to dance music that much of the formulaic output these days lacks.

drums have been discovered in almost every part of the world. drums first appeared, however, in excavation from the neolithic era. the oldest recorded drum is from 6000 bc. mesopotamian ruins contain small cylindrical drums that are as old as 3000 bc. egyptian tombs have yielded small drums used for ceremonies. several caves in peru contain wall markings depicting drums in various aspects of societal life. it is strongly suspected that indian drums from the middle east are as old as 5000 bc. the american indians used a series of wood and gourd drums for their celebrations and some of these drums are still used in ceremonies today. drums were not always used for music. in africa, where music is simply an interpretation of everyday life in sound, drums were used as speech. simply a pattern of beats played in a certain way could communicate vast amounts of information. jeff mills creates the drummer (pm-022). 6 track 12 vinyl ep. mills communicates through only a classic roland tr-808 drum machine, exclusively made for the purpose maker/axis. each track dedicated for the masters of the art form of drumming like: neil peart, billy cobham, buddy rich and others, mills explores how drum patterns and rhythms remain communicative on a higher level that has endured through evolution of humanity.

one of the great aspects of the endlessly varying bass music soundwave is the way it seems able, even compelled, to fuse antecedant styles and genres to itself. in the most innovative hands, influences from last month are absorbed and reworked as smoothly as those from last century, and creativity sparks brightest when the marriage of form and function takes place beyond recognised boundaries? and it?s from that unrestricted zone that uk producer o-dessa emerges. opening with an initial resemblance in sound to the same plaintive blue air of burial, as these tracks resonate deeper in the mind, it becomes clear that this sonic affinity is merely a veil beneath which a new heart beats. the rhythms lurking below the bassline in ?deeper? are like some undiscovered amalgam of old skool hardcore and something you might hear on the latest dirty south mixtape, which somehow manage to defy sense and co-exist in a driving and breathtaking way. mournful mariachi horns and a plunging dub bassline intermingle in a desolate approximation of sergio leone?s western soundtracks, while reedy flutes and distant female voices build a swirling vapour through which skittering woodblocks and metallic ticks raise an anxious sense of motion. anchored by a vast, cone-melting sub-bass undertow, ?deeper? s treasures are buried well below the surface. the juxtapositional subtle-tear-out nature of o-dessa?s production is even more apparent in ?million dollarz?, which reveals itself in stages to be a gradual descent into layers of tweaked amen breaks, but with a grandeur unlike anything previously heard, even though that drum pattern has already been chopped countless ways over the years. it?s not until midway through its five-and-a-half minutes that the famous phased snares rise from the dense banks of atmospherics, but when they do, a moment of blurred euphoria hits and the tune bursts into colourful life. this 12¬ is the first broadcast of many more to come from o-dessa, as - like many have in their own way before and still more strive to do so now - he embarks on his individual journey in the continual reinvention of bass music. instant thrill junkies won?t find their fix in these grooves, but followers of the path less travelled will recognise many signs pointing the way to a rich future.

this release is a very special one for us… indeed, roskow kretschmann has been for years one of the music makers that surprised us constantly and teased our appetite, displaying his rich musical background inside of projects like jazzanova, kosma or sygaire. the tracks selected by dairmount (after hours hanging out in roskows sound lab over the years) are genuinely outstanding in his entire discography. they sound like no others and reveal rare aspects of his >musical persona<. this is why they are representing perfectly our quest for >hybrid club music< crossing the lines of the original spirit of house & techno. the ep opens with the futuristic techno soul of the time is now. perfectly named, the tune fuses with class, dusty jazz samples, obscure soul vocals, juicy claps and overwhelming detroit techno keys. the result is a timeless club monster for the deepest moments. the second track that blasted us is mono:poly rightly shaped for audacious djs that enjoy to play >special< things. the track is supported by a solid programming as fellow beatmakers like mark pritchard, recloose or kenny dope originated in the 90s, mixed with biting analogue pressure, crazy batucada elements & a magic breakdown for all the lucky ones that will play it in the sunrise this summer. and last but not least, one of the label mavericks, marlow created a hell of a remix by delivering a 10 minutes techno epic that would make our detroit godfather c2 blush of satisfaction. thanks to all of them for the fantastic music
