techno, disco, italo, electronics, house, library, cosmic and ambient frequencies - these are the bedrocks of the midnight drive ethos and sound. a label shining a light on overlooked or unheralded creations and respectfully reissuing them for the contemporary audience. a label that respects and understands the connection between these disparate and sometimes forgotten forms of musical expression and celebrates them. drive001 sees us step back to 1998 and into the hands of the duo of damon wild and mederic nebinger, recording together as blue maxx they quietly unleashed some of the finest futuristic widescreen techno and electro to emanate from nyc in the late 1990 s. utilising a small sub-label of wild s seminal techno imprint synewave called deja vous the pair embarked on a slew of ep s released over the space of a couple of years with private life being one of the last. across 3 tracks private life opens up a new sound world, from the driving, tool-like qualities of the a-side cut - all swinging drum programming, synth stabs and deranged metallic percussions to the deeper, more clandestine leanings of the b-side tracks, mining a more musical and electro infused vein, the whole ep stands out as something truly original. a hallmark of the blue maxx sound. this is the first time private life has been reissued, almost 20 years has passed and somehow wild and nebinger s style remains utterly fresh and contemporary. a truly rare and essential piece of hi-tech techno expression that could easily have been released this week. such is the quality on display within these grooves. remastered by curvepusher. artwork and design by atelier superplus.

next up on the docket for acid camp records is a record created by duo john tejada and justin maxwell. the pair came together to make acr iii with two things in mind: creating sounds that put a smile on their face while possessing as much character as possible. the opening track, -i ve got acid (on my brain)- is a mind-bending wavetable freakout, the likes of which tejada and maxwell have been striving to do for years. using a vintage ems vocoder to create an original vocal sample, this track is bright, playful, & vivacious. -the name rolls in- is layered in an acid playground of sounds. a rhythmic track with a potent 303 bass line, prominent percussion, and that infamous vocoder back at it to create a distinctly groovy track. -field notes-, is a composition of celestial arrangements that is completely beatless. carried through by tiers of sounds, filters, and noisier elements, this track lulls the listener into an alluring sonic dreamscape.

mono junks label dum records is back! in 1994 an untitled 12” ep emerged from helsinki, finland. it was produced by an unknown duo called coopers and released by dum records. that particular squelchy sounding piece of wax helped to establish the sound that was later to be known as finnish minimal techno. alongside sähkö recordings, dum was one of the mainstays of gloomy northern electronics until its death in 2007. after an extremely long hiatus both dum records and coopers have now resurrected and instead of their trademark minimalism they offer now a 3-piece ep full of techno maximality! * indian acid* is a wonky excursion in repetition topped with roland corporations classical tr-727 congas, * ixam* takes you back to the soundscapes of 90s dreary finnish acid and * maximal fun* is a 12-minute trip to the electronic kraut techno madness of the coopers. play loud and preferably in dark. coopers are back with a vengeance!
