only a very few lucky people can call skatebards wonderful debut lp their own. >skateboarding was a crime in 1989< got released on telles electronic offshoot tellektro, home of great norwegian artists like annie or rÖyksopp. the key track on that album was >sgnelkab< which got played and loved to death by djs like sven väth, michael mayer and pascal feos. it instantly became a classic and always remained a secret weapon. the few copies available on discogs cost € 50 and more.... now >sgnelkab< is finally available on a full vinyl side and remastered to great effect! along comes a brand new remix by norwegian techno godfather mental overdrive (r&s). he turned the track into an insanely hot disco rave remix that already got great feedback from the usual suspects. the artwork was accomplished by another scandinavian legend: sähkös very own tommi grönlund!

brawther is a young frenchman from paris. this deephouse producer found his roots in the 90s house music vibe from new jersey, chicago, detroit, england and france. may it be true garage or deep house, the groove, spirit and energy of this period has touched him deep inside and he is now a fierce defender of what he calls true school house music as opposed to oldschool or new school: i hate when people say that this sounds old school and that style sounds old or whatever... for me, a vibe is timeless... in summer 2007, brawther releases his first e.p. under the name izmo as a 12inch on french label 9ts records, and response was great, supported and played by legendary tony humphries... disguised as a tribute to smack productions, his where is eddie e.p. touched people from all different scenes, from deep house to uk garage?

villa nah makes pure electronic pop with plenty of emphasis on catchy melodies and meticulously crafted soundscapes reminiscent of the 1980s. stylewise, villa nah is related to 80s bands like heaven 17 or new order, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. once you ve heard their debut single, you ll know that villa nah is about nothing else but their own style and sound. the single opener ways to be is built around a synth bassline, handclaps and the kind of irresistible melody that you cant shake out of your head once you ve heard it. envelope is a tad more dark with an uplifting synth melody serving as a hook. daytime, in contrast to its title, evokes a strong sense of night time. villa nahs vocalist juho paalosmaa is a very charismatic performer, whose great sense of stage drama brings to mind a young glenn gregory or philip oakey. indeed, villa nah is not merely a production duo but an actual band with a live show that is not to be missed.

selected advent deal. - this debut release on new imprint numbercult is sure to make waves, pulling no punches with this weighty production. the series hits off with a anonymous artist (which most likely is not making his debut here, judging on the production skills). the a side kicks off landlines, 11 minutes of driving deepness, an overdriven stabbing subbass and solid percussion give the track monstrous bottom end with the hypnotic lead line almost vanishing in the vastness. this could be descriped as a kind of mid 90s techno... the rawer side of basic channel or fcom. an absolute sexy monster track that keeps pushing forward and remains its funky almost dubby drive. strong! from the b side clonic is a driving mills esque x 103 ish assault, layering discordant acid lines to produce an intense and relentless track, broken only once with soaring beautiful strings. a side is essential! the b side only for the headstrong. a great start for this new label from glasgow releasing limited releases of high calibre deep techno from a dynamic collective of producers. a label grounded on the basics of techno with an open mind to the future. and what a great start. check!!!
