as hard as it might be to believe, there was a time when the word trance did not mean dutch guys dressed in white wearing oakleys.. it also didn t mean israeli pre-military dragon-stick wielding reefer addicts.. actually, there was a glorious era where trance was a verb rather than a noun.. im talking about when you got in a trance, at lets say for example: the golden eagle in munich in 81, in a white-tiled sauna-motif discotec, grooving to a 17 minute reel-to reel version of knights in white satin on your 2nd bottle of poppers while some guy named >wolfie< takes his modern ballet skills to the >next level<. if that sounds appealing.. and i know it does.. then allow me to introduce you to compuphonic and kolombo.. a throwback to the days of romance-trance of the highest order. deep, sensual (yes, i used the word sensual) electronic grooves so potent that we were forced by a coalition of competitors labels to only release some of them digitally to restrict their awesome power to trip people out. these tracks make other tracks seem like mindless shallow shit. that includes some of turbos other releases.
nrks coast2coast opens up its post summer account with a mix cd from one of the scenes brightest stars, karizma. best known for his basement boys collaborations, karizma has struck it solo in recent years and has bridged the gap between jazz influenced broken beats and the edgier, techier sounds of his kohesive productions. these double pack vinyl lps present some of the choice tunes on offer on his dj mix, including tracks & remixes from slope, onsulade, pasta boys, tyree, vikter duplaix and many more

>duntisbourne abbots...< is u-ziqs first new album for four years and first new material released since 2005. its a more reflective body of work compared to the whirlwind of chaos that was bilious paths, introspective and rather melancholic, u-ziq revisits his roots in the early 90s ambient techno scene pioneered by, among others, the black dog, aphex twin and himself.
new offshoot to the mean record label – serialism records - combining avant-garde sounds with a seasoned technique for all things minimal. in this case >dried lubricant ep< is an example of quality which doesnt follow the common flow. on this 4 tracker, the classic breed of techno is harmonically mixed up with the quirkiness of our time. a various artist ep which doesnt eave space for misunderstandings. on the a side young frenchman cesar merveille and his obscure melodies and liquid bass lines takes us on moody journey followed by italian rico casazza who plays ironically with our heads in a more funked up style. on the b side ekkohaus opens up the dancefloor with heavy breaks and chorused rim shots while the fourth track from the brainchild of techno producer grimes adhesif delivers an industrial 909 style loopy piece. grimes is the label owner of mind your head records, and has produced tracks which have received much recognition from major djs and artists such as ricardo villalobos

redshapes profile is still rapidly growing. taken in mind it has been just over one year ago redshapes first ep was released on delsin - a lot of things have happened! nowadays weekly doing performances through europe, and two singles ending up in de:bugs 2006 chart. back to now, this new ep. steam comes in clonky and rough, as the track species on his last ep on redshapes own imprint present. light is a deeply beatless freaked synth excursion. the flip brings more hot stuff - starting with munch, a more detroited redshape as before! sounding as a lost 69 track, with its quircky chopped up breakbeats and whobbling synth bassline. plush at last brings in the otherworldy sounds inline of this ep on styrax. catchy business!!
