for the past four years francesco leali kept busy running parachute alongside co-owners manfredi romano and thomas feriero, producing under different monikers and touring the globe as half of cw/a. finally back as clockwork, leali reveals a five track ep featuring some of his rugged music to date. a briery shift into foggier territories where leali explores layered sound-design and broken rhythms, something he had only hinted in his previous work. online entity depicts lealis hindrance with modern societys social networking obsession. in contrast to what these services were actually intended for, leali explains, they seem to have impacted a lot of people negatively, resulting in unnecessary resentments, misinformation and feelings of proximity when these tools can easily alienate you from reality. constantly worrying about how you want people to perceive you is absurd already, but for many of us this constant sharing has become the only way to achieve happiness, to be satisfied. in an era where all of this is getting out of hand its essential to remind yourself of the things that truly shape you as an individual. with online entity i aimed for feelings of release, mutating resentments into something positive - more physical. i imagined it as a soundtrack to an escape from these very situations. the release showcases this approach with five club-ready numbers filled with calculated, pounding drums and gloomy atmospheres, with only rare glimpses of hope scattered throughout. to round things up we mobilised fellow parachute affiliate ayarcana and serbian techno pro lag who both deliver two startling interpretations of escape sequence and rumination.

a rare look into the discotheque era of waikiki, al nobriga’s “my last disco song” tells of a time when nightclubs lined kalakaua avenue and practically every hotel hosted live entertainment. seven days a week, locals rubbed elbows with visitors in discos like the point after, cock’s roost, garden bar, infinity, duke kahanamoku’s, foxy lady too, valentino’s, hawaiian hut—the list goes on.

originally released in 1978 on greg charmichaels red greg records, ‘lady bug’ and -love bug- are probably bumblebee unlimited s most recognizable hits. now repressed on the get on down label ... with an undeniable groove, signature keys and arrangements by patrick adams in addition to the comically sped-up vocals, lady bug is considered by many to be one of the most important underground tracks of the disco era. as with the original -lady bug- 12- single, the john morales and frank trimarco -sunshine sound- mix takes the a-side of the rca release. a true disco version in every sense of the word, this almost 10 minute mix brings out the latin percussions to the front making it a true dance floor classic and establishing john morales as one of the best remixers in the industry. the b-side belongs to one of new york city s hottest djs at the time: larry levan. despite being a very early remix by the legendary paradise garage dj, the talent was evident and his understanding of a club mix in wide display. it’s no wonder larry levan would go to become one of the most respected and revered remixers of his generation.

the headless horseman returns on tommy four seven’s ’47’ imprint. headless horseman made his first appearance on the 2016 various artist ep, 47006 with his contribution, ‘at the gates’, alongside artists phase fatale, stephanie sykes and tommy himself. now back with a 4 track ep, 47009 marks a new era for the label, presenting its first solo release.

if you do not have a turntable, please note that this disc can also be used as a tabletop. found in a holiday home by the ocean, the table utensil that serves as a cover for this pop collection is a beach souvenir from another era that can not be clearly dated. the illustration depicts a pair of deckchairs in a naïve and cordial decoration: the perfect place to listen to his musical accompaniment, taking the form of a voyage to the crossroads and library music, the original french soundtracks of the 70 s and a handmade electronic funk.

audiosapr is one of the most consistent albums you’re likely to come across in russia’s gost zvuk entire back catalogue. surprisingly, the full-length by saint petersburg’s scene veteran kuzma palkin is a compilation of random jams and studio recordings he made in the period of 2014-2015, carefully pieced together by label’s masterminds. sapr stands for the system of automatic projection (a russian term for computer-aided design, cad) which defines the album’s experimental yet complex and interlocking heart. based around a central theme of immediacy and spontaneity, audiosapr builds upon the foundations of early, pre-detroit era of electro and techno, and then progresses the wispy entrails of analogue gear in a contemporary dancefloor direction. it’s clearly music that can be attributed as hybrid, however it’s not you re going to think about while listening to “audiosapr”, palkin’s definitely most inspiring work to date.

a riotous romp through imaginatively used samples, familiar piano riffs, customary beats and other rave tropes, the master of mischief luke vibert puts together a 10 track ode to the era of m25 convoys, mobile phone hotlines and raving amongst dogs on strings in british aerodrome fields. with a long and extensive history in the uks dance counterculture spanning three decades, vibert has released a barrage of inventive and animated music over the years that really doesn’t take itself too seriously, and is all the better for it. lps and singles for mo wax, warp, planet mu, ninja tune and rising high really speaks for itself, so its a honour to welcome vibert back onto hypercolour (after 2014s ridmik album and 2015’s return of his kerrier district moniker).
