chuck cissel, from tulsa, oklahoma, recoded just two albums in 1979 and 1982 respectively, both for arista at the time and reissued together on cd by expansion in 2014. he is best known in disco circles for ‘cisselin’ hot’, but over the last two decades has become renonwned for “don’t tell me you’re sorry” in northern and crossover soul circles. today it is his most sought after record, orignal copies worth £150. the track is also written about in richard searling’s new book “putting the record straight”.

the second album from basic house takes a sober turn towards the thematic intersection of occult knowledge and globalised black operations, brokering a piercing anxiety throughout from the tension between the scale of the politics being invoked and the familiarity of the covert identity tactics to music cultures, subcultures, and the like.
second release from the label offers up broken rhythms, jacking grooves and deep spirituals. hold me explores lyricism within tight repetitious rhythm, on which saxophonist tyrone isaac-stuart explores hook lines and story telling whilst bassist jordan christo maintains control over the low-end spectrum. that he man of hers melds jacking, upbeat tempo with romanticism and melancholy on top, with louis ktisti providing guitar accompaniment. one s own permanent faith, on the other hand, provides for a moodier and more subdued spiritual dance rhythm, which warms one up before the spiritual explorations in would you tell me about you. in this final track, the guitar rhythms provided by jabriel alsuhaimi and spiritual exorcism of the saxophone by tyrone isaac-stuart present a different angle in the approach towards discovering the endless groove.

alora…from sebo k, sleeper thief, audiofly, anthony colllins, sian, marcin czubala to manuel de lorenzi. best feedback for the new 8bit record from the smart italian guy. manuel de lorenzi is definately one rising star to watch out for in 2008..carving his own fresh style and insight into his prodcutions, he delivers a fine ep for 8bit..>coconuts< is a slow burner, with punchy chord stabbs and deep haunting pads that take you nicely on a journey. on the flipside >something< is a more subtle, deep n dark groover. nick curly is brought in on remix duties keeping it close to the orginal yet delivering a more housed up percussive affair. a great ep and great start to 2008!
jacek sienkiewicz presents another unbelievably complex experiments in beat programming and string arrangement. this time, polands top techno producer known for his storming live sets goes over the edge, stretching minimal techno formula far beyond its limits and comes up with two epic tracks of enormous proportions. >the one< starts immediately with a stainless steel kick, but what seems to be a digital techno groove soon develops into a cosmic fairytale, with layers after layers of strings, bells and unidentified, but strangely organic sounds, executed with breathtaking complexity and almost obsessive attention to every tiny detail. sounds and emotions embraced within its almost 10 minutes are enough to fill a couple of albums.
