2013 was a good year for mr natalizia. breaking out of his musical (comfort) zone and touring schedule as one half of kompakt records stars walls, a deeper side to his music oeuvre was shown on the excellent not waving debut, umwelt, before then going on to compile the killer *mutazione* compilation of italian new wave 1980-1988 for strut records. spanning 9 tracks, *human capabilities* takes the sound of umwelt and the subsequent super limited cassette only reinterpretations of redacted and mixes harder percussive tracks alongside explorations of melody through ambient pieces that close each side.

after the amazing critical acclaim for his debut album drone logic, daniel avery lines up a select series of remix 12inches on phantasy from some of his favourite artists. danny daze takes naive response deeper into the realms of smart, late night techno with a remix that has been huge for avery and label boss erol alkan all summer. on the flip, londons perc turns reception into an industrial techno behemoth, tailor made for the darkest of hours in berghain

emotional response returns with their first album of 2013, a collection of early, unreleased recordings from rising brooklyn video artist/producer luke wyatt (aka torn hawk).

tm404 is a new concept from analogue mastermind andreas tilliander aka mokira (kontra-musik, raster-noton, type). tm404 uses a multiple set up of the classic roland machines tb-303, tb-606 and mc-202 to create a mesmerizing acidic techno-drone. tm404 will release a full-length album on kontra-musik in late january and we are very much looking forward. but before that we have another great release to present. kontra-musik 028 is by far our most radical release on so far. this is dance music really pushed the limit. what you are about to hear is the result of morphosis (morphine records) remixing tm404 using his favorite korg machines – the ms20 and the sq10. rabihs own words on the music: quite challenging and not really ordinary dance music. i believe in moving forward with things, with whatever chances and possibilities i have, it is my contribution to this world.

ales boek alias alex long delivers yet another fine ep filled with four hot peak time techno-house tunes for the cold winter days to come! he sure loves his chords and stabbs and has turned his style into his distinctive sound, that can easily cross the bridge between techno and house! but once again let the music speak for itself!

dave.i.d likes to think for himself. always has done. its the reason why his debut album didnt go quite according to his initial plan. he was going to make, to use his own words, >something pretty simple and straightforward<. but then he noticed lots of his friends were discovering new beliefs. some even tried to convert him. >im very open-minded to different beliefs, but i question and see things slightly differently,< he says. without necessarily wanting to, he found himself reflecting on existential questions. >the album is a record of the time that it was made, and thats what was going on in my life at the time. i didnt necessarily want to make the debut album like that. i felt i had to make it<. the cerebral inspiration catapulted him into musics outer rim. he beamed back a dark, dense sometimes confrontational sound, but ultimately compelling sound. but, in the end, it turned out to be a happy accident because the resulting record, called >response< appropriately enough, is mind-bendingly inventive, brilliantly off-kilter and constantly surprising. crucially, the tough sonics are paired with killer melodies: this is deep, heavy music you can hum. the records he was listening to while making >response< help make sense of his singular sound

following off from the widely acclaimed >gangs< ep, dave.i.d brings a new epic, aggressive and tribal sounding record, which is a refreshing outburst from the rest of the new music we are currently swamped by. this is a creation of dave.i.ds perception of modern reality and his life within that and >response< represents this perfectly.

in may 2016, trevino a.k.a. marcus intalex released his acclaimed debut album, “front”, on his own birdie label. almost exactly seven years on, the follow up album “back” will be released posthumously, marking the final trevino album. the release date is scheduled for the 26th may to mark the six year anniversary of marcus passing (28th may 2017).

secret circuits eddie ruscha and rub n tugs thomas bullock joined forces as laughing light of plenty for an ep back in 2008, and followed it up with an album on whatever we want records in 2010 which largely got lost in a warehouse stock malfunction. now emotional response are doing the right thing and giving the record a second airing under the duos alternative alias the naturals, and it s not hard to see why they wanted to do the reissue. loose and funky, but also deliriously psychedelic and indebted to the 1970s golden era of songwriting, this is a quintessential emotional record if ever we heard one.
