be with have raided the kpm archives to re-issue another of our favourites from the kpm 1000 series. they say: underscore moods and links—contemporary beat music idiom. we say: includes some of the most sublime, sub-ten second, tracks you’re ever likely to hear
i was thrilled when joe goddard asked if he could make an ep for the label and were even more thrilled when i heard it. the fact that he roped in the legendary kool keith to appear on one track just kept on bringing the thrills.
5th and last part from the continuum series, celebrating 10 years of dynamic reflection. featuring tracks from shifted, matrixxman, keith carnal and viels.
the first release on keith carnal’s own imprint, by the man himself. it illustrates the sound he stands for: rolling grooves, heavy kicks and melodic influences.
a 1990s classic on one side and the equally popular remix on the flip side. remastered from original dat masters by shane the cutter at finyl tweek. cut at 45 rpm for the djs
sad girl delivers her first ep on mary black. nyx is the personification of the night and was born out of chaos. a shadowy figure like the mysterious sad girl herself. standing at the beginning of creation, nyx mothered aether (brightness), hypnos (sleep) and oizys (pain), being the titles of the three original tracks. keith carnal did a fantastic remix of oizys on the flip and completes this dreamy yet forceful trip from the darkness into the light and back into black
dread recordings have remained on the forefront since they began releasing music in the early 90s. since then, both drum & bass and the imprint have moved from strength to strength, with dread staying true to the sound which remains a pinnacle of the genre’s roots. and alongside head honcho, ray keith, the british legend that played a pivotal part in the early jungle scene, their a&r skill has remained the same since their first signing. their subsequent lp ‘ray keith presents: margaman’ is a testament to this, rolling out a definitive part of the dread recording’s roster to bring this 2 track 12- sampler to the thirteen track album which once again puts their commitment to drum & bass on a podium.
the second release on feelings worldwide comes courtesy of mysterious dj / producer keith lorraine. the cloaked producer invites us into his acid tinged mind for two pieces of club ready power.
live saxophone provided courtesy of caspar sutton-jones kicks off the a side taking us on a boogie expedition channeling the early 90s french filter house boom. the contrasting b side builds soothingly to that e-come up moment with some fat 2nd-gen detroit bass vibes to pull us out again.
two jovonn remixes finish the record as the legendary nyc producer dishes out two takes on the a side, revival. the a2 provides us a dance floor thumper stacked with jovonn’s signature deepness and 2-step shuffles whilst the b2 treats us with the perfect tool to build up to another drop frenzy in the dance.
for its first release, rapid eye movement gives voice to vii circle who sign with “archetype” an inaugural powerful and exquisitely crafted ep for the imprint. the ep, to be issued in october 2017 in both vinyl and digital versions, features three original tracks as well as remixes composed by no less than dutch techno wizard keith carnal and belgian arising talent farrago.
