“wit blad” is the result of a beautiful collaborative project that started with illustrator joost stokhof. he was asked as an artist in residence for amsterdam’s hortus botanicus, a place where joost locked himself up for a week alongside the finest biodiversity in the city. joost asked eefje de visser to join him for a day and eefje asked nuno dos santos to form a powerful trinity of which “wit blad” is the unmistakable evidence.

massive release with finest techno artists

italian house bastion vibraphone records has more than proven itself in the realms of classic deep house, but this new release from knlb certainly speaks to the new age of the label. the unknown producer makes a stunning entry with -second wind-, an effervescent breakbeat number that harks back to classic 90s mo wax sounds with its resonating piano licks and gritty drum samples. -apollo- meanwhile creates an interesting variation on the dub techno template with a wealth of instrumentation cavorting around a tripped out chord stab, and then -initialize- drifts off into blissful deep house meditation atop a purposeful beat. minimono swoop in to inject some direct funk into their remix of -intialize-, and a very fine job they do of it too.

pisetzky s full debut album on just this includes adventures into contemporary techno music, fines ambient works, and unique broken pieces. an intense mixture of incredible warmth, weird fluffiness, mystic trumpets and high uplifts, the album is interspersed with short ambient and fragmentated interludes, each just a few minutes long: ‘state of consciousness’ and ‘tears of a rough machine’ are serene and reflective tracks that give the listener time to breathe and bringing him/her back to more dancefloor focused tracks of the lp like viridis, bakwas and wand. the result is a magic story, a history in eleven chapters that the listener is guided through, like the landscapes of a mystic journey, with a twist on the melodies and hidden effects behind every deep bass sound.

general ludd is rich mcmaster from new jersey and tom marshallsay from canterbury. the guys met at the glasgow art school, where rich studied environmental art and tom studied fine art. their first collaborations were interactive sound installations, but that quickly gave way to all night music making sessions. this is their second ep for us – a more left field turn than their first, but, we can assure you, both tracks will break discerning dancefloors wide open.

argentinean musician and producer fernando pulichino joins the cynic fray and brings with him a storied reputation that includes a multitude of releases as fernando for the likes of international feel, leng, internasjonal, redux, under the shade, nang, and bearfunk. in addition to his solo work, pulichino has been an integral cog in the 2020 soundsystem, a live act headed by ralph lawson that have been known to close out proceedings at sonar. the stereo drive 12 inch is a fine example of fernandos style, all clean production values with subtle hints of proto house and balearica respectively running through the title cut and b sider -sunset strip-. another killer 12 inch from felix dickinson s revitalised cynic label.
