der gesuchte tune aus dem jahre 1981 erscheint erstmalig als offizielle 7-inch single! nachdem us-star dj khaled in seinem hit holy mountain- die stimme billy boyos von one spliff a day prominent einsetzte war es an der zeit die archive zu sichten und das original top-a-top zu remastern und mit der dubversion der roots radics im scientist mix auf vinyl zu veröffentlichen. die single kommt im ansprechenden glanzlack-picture sleeve als europäische pressung.

ein highlight in der -reggae anthology--serie wurde als 2lp-set neu aufgelegt. der produzent henry junjo lawes dominierte mit seinem volcano label (und auch soundsystem) von 1980-1985 von jamaika aus die welt des reggae und early dancehall! das doppel-vinyl bietet 28 tracks von den top-acts der stunde, hits und einige raritäten - seite 1 und 2 stellen die sänger vor, während die seiten 3 und 4 den deejays vorbehalten sind. das ganze mit dem gütesiegel der musiker von den roots radics und der high times band, sowie den studios channel one, harry j, joe gibbs und king tubbys studio.

zum 40-jährigen jubiläum wird ein klassiker des dub-reggae-genres vom masteringexperten kevin metcalfe re-mastered und auf dem vp records sublabel 17 north parade wiederveröffentlicht. im original erschien der longplayer erstmalig 1977 auf dem joe gibbs record globe label und wurde mit der joe gibbs studioband, the professionals, eingespielt - laut originalcover waren das george -fully- fulwood, carlton -santa- davis, tony chin, richard -dirty harry- hall, tommy mccook, bobby ellis und leroy -horsemouth- wallace. am mischpult saß errol thompson. hier finden sich exzellente dubversionen von riddims aus der rocksteady-Ära 1966 bis 1969 inklusive -hypocrites- von bob marley & the wailers in die neuzeit katapultiert, sowie die dubs zu den großen reggae-hits der zeit wie -uptown top ranking- von althea & donna.

sound carrier volume 8it’s back to the cosmos with the latest instalment in chris carrier’s always-on-point series, sound carrier. the label is a home for the prolific paris artist’s techno stylings, and no.8 in the series focuses on a galactical fight theme – taking us from terra firma up into the skies and beyond. the first track, ‘alien blaster pistol’, couldn’t be more self-explanatory. mysterious keys parade over an ominous bassline while the beats keep things moving neatly. gentle chimes and bleeps are added, initiating a dialogue between the various high frequencies located in the top end. next up is ‘mahem (magneto hydrodynamic explosive munition)’, which steps into familiar sound carrier territory, that is… slightly unhinged. rolling along at a steady pace, the tune is rough, yet light with shimmering effects and charming wobbly chunks of bass. on side b chris gets gnarly on us with ‘earth invasion’. it’s the beginning of the end, so of course the music has to match that frightening prospect. gruff beats and stomping bass collide with cymbals, crunchy snares and mutant acid licks to create a beast. finally, ‘haumea brigade’ takes us into the twilight zone again, whirring fx float above hard-hitting beats and a mean b-line. eerie pads help to maintain a chilling tone throughout. deadly, the soundtrack to the end of days here on earth... prepare to evacuate!

alan palomo, der mann hinter neon indian, schafft auf seinem neuen werk den perfekten brückenschlag zwischen dem sound seiner anfangstage, als er noch als vega mehr tanzorientierte musik aufgenommen hat, und dem lofi und der leichtigkeit heutiger neon indian songs. entstanden ist vega intl. night school zu großen teilen auf einem kreuzfahrtschiff, auf dem alans bruder jorge als bassist in der hausband spielte. zusammen richteten sie sich dort ein kleines studio in einer der kabinen ein, während das schiff auf die bahamas zu steuerte und die cocktailgläser geleert wurden. eine wunderbare atmosphäre, die deutlich auf dem neuen werk zu spüren ist. inklusive der singles annie und slumlord.

the last release before we hit the big five-0 here is samuel dan who had previously released together with darlyn vlys on our sub label sweet & sour. he has also shown his face on syncopat, dirty bird und off recordings. with the title track >i hear voices< samuel leans out from the dj booth and gives the vjs something ravey to trigger an emotional parade ... while he hears voices, we see stars. >on the dancefloor< and >do it baby< take us to the next level of this olympic exercise!

leo anibaldi was born in 1972 and at the age of 15 discovers his passion for electronic music. thanks to the advent of the first computers like commodore vic 20 and 64, he begins to create his first loops. after one year leo start to play in outskints clubs under the pseudonym dj mc, when was impossibile to find in rome any trace of electronic beat. he becomes a big analogics synths collector and he decide to spend his daily life into the creation of beat groove. in 1990 leo begins his recordings career at acv records where he will make more then 20 albums like: attack random, riders of the future, noise generation, muta, cannibald and aeon. in 1991 leo meets lory d and in a small garage located in the north of rome, they start the alternative music movement universally known as the sound of rome, who spread the techno music in rome and whole italy. in those years leo is concentrated to bring his analogic live set around the world, he plays in the best techno parties like one the first love parade edition in berlin. in 1995 leo decides to cut the relation whit acv records and moves to rephlex, label of his friend aphex twin where he will make the album void. 2008. cannibald record was born, leos personal record label, and he is back with a 4 track ep. feed1 is a hypnotic techno sound, feed2 a deep, spaced out techno track and feed 3 modern minimal acid. leos older hit >attack random< got remixed by francesco pierguidi.

brame & hamo are back with the third release on their eponymous imprint. trants and club orange effortlessly upheld the berlin based duos reputation for dancefloor ready hits, with the latter selling out in one day. picking up where the others left off, limewire ep is a nod to their early influences channelling house, techno, trance and breakbeat. over three tracks, brame & hamo brandish the party starting spirit they are rapidly becoming known for. broken beats feature heavily alongside subtle acid licks, uplifting harmonies and sweltering synth lines. parade rain is a peak time house roller with pulsing bass, meditative pads and airy pipes that polish it off to make a fine rendition to early 90’s house. sports complex the darkest of the ep, builds an intense energy with a heavy hitting 808, shuttering reflections, a driving 303 line topped off with a trance-inducing melody that makes this into a big room bomb. the title track is a breakbeat workout honing a classy piano riff complimented with emotional synths, strings and more acid lines, a fruit for clarity. finally tuff city kids aka gerd janson & lauer round it up with a club ready interpretation of their title track, adding more drum layers, a jittering bassline and a simple but effective melody to finish it off. limewire ep finds the duo exploring a range of influences, expertly referencing various styles whilst still weighing in the sound that is now unmistakably theirs.
