this is a journey into sound. a series of journeys across the globe, in-fact. this time with don leisure from darkhouse family. let us tell you a story. firstly, we first need to answer a question. who is shaboo? it began in africa. nasser barwani was the son of shabudin. at the age of 15, nasser (don s uncle) left kenya and hitch-hiked his way to london. nasser entered the movie business, occasionally finding himself in front of the camera, acting in bollywood films. it was then that nasser changed his surname to adopt a screen name - shaboo.
5 instrumental hip hop tracks, linked together in a truly unique style and fashion, this is much more than a beat tape. this is a journey into sound. for real.

22.02.85 is the new album from bastien keb. initially conceived as a concept album about a stripper lost in the city (like a straight-to-video follow up to showgirls), 22.02.85 has a distinctly nocturnal edge to it. the city at night, lost in a crowd, abandoned petrol stations, empty kebab shops, broken florescent lights. like a half-forgotten dream, familiar yet unnerving. he says all the songs are all about girls apart from two about a big lug. you may catch a phrase here and there but the context is all in the feel: there s a melancholy edge, but i don t wanna depress people. sad but hopeful? if that s possible.

taking influence from reggae, lotek explores the evolution of hip hop by way of the reggae sound system culture. he looks to jamaica for inspiration and takes pride in continuing the tradition of uk artists working with, and interpreting, the sounds of jamaica.

following on from his critically acclaimed third album basho basho, kidkanevil is back with a selection of remixes from his forthcoming basho basho remixed album. first up is a long-time friend of fw in the shape of eliphino. he provides a stunning sub-heavy mix of >the floating world<, fans of floating points, joy orbison & bukem need to check this out. next up is manchesters illum sphere, fresh from the release of his titan ep on martyns 3024 imprint (becoming only the second producer aside from 2562 to have a solo 12 inch on the label). his rebounce of >when doves bounce< does exactly that, adding spooky electronics and tougher drums to the original.
