“madrid fue una ciudad mundial” compiles four of the most important spanish electronic projects from the 80 s. a compilation released in cooperation with a show organised in madrid last may, 18th where aviador dro, flash cero, azul y negro and esplendor geométrico played together for the very first time.
aviador dro offers two unpublished early recordings from 1981. flash cero includes an unreleased song recorded back in 1987. azul y negro collaborates with a demo version of their cult classic “la torre de madrid” from 1981. and esplendor geométrico give us a couple of live tracks recorded in 1989 for the first time available on vinyl.

twin tribes is a dark synth duo based in brownsville, texas. formed by luis navarro (vocals, guitar, synths, drum machines) and joel niño, jr. (bass, synths, vocals) in 2017. they gather their influences from the dark side of the 80s. darkwave, post-punk and cold wave are only some of the genres that the band summons using analogue synthesizers and drum machines, bass and guitar. dark melodic sounds, lyrics of the undead, the occult and parallel universes are what conjure twin tribes.

this is essential tremor’s second and final album of all time. the band broke up after the recording of this record but still managed to play one final show before fully breaking up. the show was one of the most brutal things nashville, tn has ever witnessed and lead singer cole k was banished from nashville forever following the performance. essential tremor’s work never quite fit in with the rest of what was occurring in nashville around the time these tracks were recorded, but we re sure that this tape will fit right in with the rest of your collection.
kodiak bachine is a multidisciplinary artist and one of the truly pioneers of electronic music in brazil. he first formed in 1980 the legendary band agentss considered to be the very first brazilian electronic group. in 1982 he composed and recorded -eletricidade- with the use of a minimoog model d, moog liberation, crumar string ensemble and vocoder. this track could be considered as the first techno-pop in brazil. it was also used on a video-art awarded by different festivals. -espirito das maquinas- is a re-version created the same year.
the much anticipated debut album from 22 year old bristol-based electronic singer songwriter henry green, which follows his two critically acclaimed eps. inspired by the likes of rhye, nils frahm and john hopkins, half of the album was recorded in berlin with nico rebscher (aurora, alice merton) and the rest co-produced by henry and his friend jack shuter in bristol.
groenis -nihx- entstand am fuße des mount victoria. nihx wollten sich kompositorisch und klanglich herausfordern und untersuchten die merkmale von konfliktpunkten zwischen gegnerischen kräften. wie in der vergangenheit und wie bei vielen elektronischen projekten ist die musik sozusagen -in der box- geschrieben worden. um dieser technik entgegenzuwirken, schrieben die drei mitglieder von groeni (al, mike und james) jeweils zahlreiche kompositionsskizzen, bevor sie in den digitalen bereich gelangten. mit ähnlicher inspiration wollte die band einzigartige und personalisierte sounds außerhalb des computers erstellen. die überwiegende mehrheit der drumsounds wurde aus samples von mikes immer umfangreicher werdender synth-sammlung gemacht. zahlreiche sounds sind manipulierte rückkopplungen von unter anderem gitarren oder vocals. die gesamte platte wurde in drei heimstudios in wellington, nz, geschrieben und aufgenommen und hat fast zwei jahre bis zur fertigstellung gebraucht. die limitierte vinyl auflage enthält einen mp3-download-coupon.

for her first single, the sublime title loverboy comes out as a big urban spleen, released in a space made of asphalt and artificial paradises. groups like hooverphonic or even portishead play around this throbbing softness that is loverboy, splashing about in the electronic lounge of the 90s. the opener, alien lady features a flute-driven solo backed up by a funky guitar riff that then transitions into a tropical beat and tanja narrating the story of feeling a stranger in a big city, not understanding the social codes and clues ‘i don t speak the language in the way that you know’ while worth to you is a dreamy, glitched-out hypnotic track which maintains an edge of mysterious sexuality and her signature sense of intimate detachment. if the atmosphere coming out of lomboy’s work can be sometimes felt as prude and even shy, it certainly does not intend to hide with embarrassment the aphrodisiac scent that permeates it. on the contrary, this modesty perceived in the interpretation and in the production sensually envelops the different compositions, and imparts to this guilty pleasure the feeling of a stolen kiss. warped caress brings us to vertiginous heights and takes us into abyssal depths throughout the five tracks. this suggests at times a diegetic representation of this erotic world seen through the insolent prose and at other times a mimetic representation where each instrument plays an important part in every story told.

dark entries is proud to release the debut album from bézier titled ‘parler musique’. bézier is taiwanese-american musician robert yang who is also part of the honey soundsystem crew. a multi-instrumentalist, robert grew up in southern california then planted his roots in san francisco in 2005. over the years in sf he has built an impressive analog synth-based studio, which also serves as the creative hub for his riveting live performances. parler musique clocks in at over 52 minutes with 8 tracks are spread across four sides for maximum loudness.
calendar crowd was the duo of alan heaton and terence tiernan who met in their hometown of widnes, cheshire as schoolboys and played together in various bands in the ‘70s. in the ‘80s they formed a 6-piece band called room for humans and recorded one single“telephone telephone / girlfriend”. when the band split and alan and terence continued as calendar crowd in a more experimental direction. their influences were wide reaching: kraftwerk, neu, cabaret voltaire, eno, pil, and joy division.
rumours believes that the only way to harmony is by allowing yourself to be extreme in every way. after listening to megamix for the first time, the origin of the name reveals itself after every track you hear. rumours are hannah vandenbussche and jonas boermans (both active at monami), birds-singer pieter-jan cools and brutus drummer stefanie mannaerts. they joined forces a few years ago to produce something they call sjamaanhop. a self-invented term that best can be defined as an enchanting combination of techno and trip hop. it’s as if the knife and crystal castles suddenly found the ideal pool partners in four tet and nosaj thing. where rumours is known for their dark, fast paced and heartfelt live sets, they show they ve got more to them in their first studio album. influences from every corner creep into the songs, which makes it a quiet unusual, but balanced album. a mishmash of melancholy (every cry for help needs a saving anthem), a certain tint of sadness and that one urgent place in our hearts that we call desire. for the visual aspect of the album, the spanish party island ibiza was an obvious choice for the band. the destination was not only a refuge, it was a place where hope and grief can exist together.

just as magnified record grooves reveal dust constellations and lunar landscapes, so too does godblesscomputers’ third album. “solchi” is a deep search into previous moments in lorenzo nada’s lifetime, influenced by the presence and power of music. his process began with the recovery of some old cassettes, mixtapes nearly forgotten, audio recording of voices from his childhood, and lots of dusty jazz, soul, and hip-hop records. as the starting point of this travel merge with its end, past and present combine to form gbc’s current sound. warm electronic production rooted by grooving bass lines form the core of a kaleidoscope of sixteen tracks, colored by synthesizers, guitar echoes, scratches, samples, fading voices and kalimba. the album is a collection of sixteen stories, sixteen soundscapes, each of them gbc’s tribute to the path taken thus far, an homage to his love for music. the recording and studio work took place over a year, with the adding and subtracting of many elements. for this project, gbc invited several musicians into his home studio, both old friends and new. they helped to recreate the sounds of the original recovered recording, as well as add fresh ideas to the project.

ima (intense molecular activity) is the duo of don hunerberg (synthesizers) and andy blinx (drums and percussion). based in new york city and active between 1979 and 1982. don, a studio sound / music engineer and musician, andy an electronic clothing designer, drummer and sound reinforcement engineer at downtown clubs like max’s kansas city, mudd club and cbgb. in between doing sessions at radio city music hall studios for groups such as ramones, richard hell, sonic youth, liquid liquid, john zorn, glenn branca and many others, ima took advantage of off hours to create their own music. as far as influences go, don’s background was in electronic music and andy’s in prog rock. to produce the songs, don used his own method of creating patterns from 2-track tape loops and then edited them together on to a 24-track recorder adding more tracks of overdubs, in a very similar way that sequencers are used today.
originally released in 1993 by the italian imprint minus habens records, -concrete jungle- is the second album by this seminal project of dirk ivens (the klinik, absolute body control). a work considered as groundbreaking by lot of fans of early 90s industrial, noise and ebm. there are few electro-pioneers that are still active and successful and mr. ivens is one of them, inspiring a lot of acts to follow in the past three decades. -concrete jungle- is being released for the first time on vinyl in a limited/numbered edition of 700 copies. double record including all the original tracks plus the -extended play- ep (1994) and some songs from old compilations. artwork based on the original design and presented on a deluxe gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves and numbered card.

amsterdams worst kept secret makes it back to unknown precept with his long-awaited album and first solo output since the acclaimed divine bovine tape mini-album. inspired by an evening spent in a restaurant next to a car demolition site, eindkrak s long player debut echoes the distant sound of steel being crushed and cars pressed into cubes. all this noise, in combination with the taste of good italian food, lead to the eleven tracks making up for the aptly titled brullend staal — loosely translated to weeping steel. a leisurely stroll on crumpled metal sheets, the acidic hints of oxidized metal and the smell of gasoline. inaudible and distorted vocals as if smothered by the clatter and smokestacks of steel factories. eindkrak s first full-length is all about this disquietude made of melted and straightened scrap metal. a resounding and tumultuous din. try to eat some nice gnocchis while listening to this album, and you ll see what it is all about.
dalmata daniel continue with their inspired pairing of sonics and personalities on their seventh release (1st part of their split series) to date courtesy of dutch producer betonkust and budapest-based hardware techno fiend Új bála. as much as both differ in their geographical roots – holland and hungary, respectively, at first glance (or listen), their sound also ventures into different sonic territories. 1080p and pinkman-affiliate betonkust delivers vintage-tinged electronics – most prominently on his -ferenc s escape- – while Új bála digs deeper into the basement and unravels his analogue acid and badass beats. his -the piggy-bank deal- even touches upon oriental flavours. on the other hand, the music on this ep is buoyant and joyful, a welcome antidote to the gloom and doom that s not only been prevalent in the world around us, but also in too much music of the last few years.

brand new glastonbury production duo speakman sound team up with frankie forman for the palliative psychedelic dance stylings of latest single warm. warm follows the breakneck success of debut single in flight which became a top viral track on spotify while being touted by key tastemakers including 6music’s lauren laverne, radio x’s john kennedy, soho radio’s eddie temple morris and radio 1’s huw stephens, monki and phil taggart. the latter commendations led to the brothers being offered a slot on the bbc introducing stage at glastonbury for a ram-packed homecoming. brothers todd and guy, the duo behind speakman sound, spent their childhood in the glastonbury area immersed in music through their father, a guitarist in psych-rock scene including bands such as hawkwind. growing into adolescence against a backdrop of rave culture in somerset shaped the psychedelic tinged future bass sound they create in their studio in north london today. warm is a sonic embrace, a trip into the uterine comforts of music. a rolling kick drum structures it, ostensibly four-on-the-floor, but with syncopated fibrillations, the sound of a heart skipping a beat. with frankie forman’s brilliant, mantra-like vocal and tobie tripp’s sweeping strings, warm reminds us of the comfort we find in music. enveloping in its beauty, it’s the latest majestic entry into speakman sound’s unique and beatific body of work. that the speakman brothers are producers in their own right should come as no surprise. having received a start-up grant for a studio in cricklewood, they have built an artistic hub from scratch and are surrounded by a creative coterie of young musicians and talented artists practicing across film and music in north london where they hold regular late-night jams and parties.

harry miller aka glow in the dark is neither to be found on any social media channel nor can you google anything about him, let alone does he maintain a website. the man hides completely behind his music and quite obviously in his studio. after his debut in february earlier this year, now already a few months later, his second album drops, “into existence.”

after releasing space control an intergalactic journey into synthesizers, back in 2012, the theremynt duo went on to release a successful, if steady, stream of eps, including robotique de l amou r and vampiros discos (a tribute to brazilian filmmaker ze do caixao). with remixes coming from the likes of david carretta, acid washed and club bizarre, these were playlisted by scene djs such as marvin & guy and ivan smagghe, amongst others. now yann and eva are striking back with their second lp, parallels. it s a record that sees them changing their colour palette and mood, but one that s still haunted by ghosts that lurk within their synthesizers and drum machines. the 10 tracks still exhibit peel s ever shifting vocal style and yann s sophisticated arrangements. but the second lp oscillates between ballad and dancefloor, landing between cosmic disco influences, krautrock and other progressive techno sounds. as a bonus, the album also features a cover of famous 80 s anthem self control. nico nightingale, aka neud photo, is no stranger to collaborations. the new yorker s latest sees him teaming up with cristiano f. grimaldi to form intrzn, a partnership meshing a free style approach to melodies with cold rhythms. their -zone- quartet is a twilight of fluctuating moods. percussion is bare, allowing bright bars to shine and darker moments to fester. music which in one breath is elated and uplifting and, the next, dejected and downtrodden.
leuk en ko is the dutch bastard child by unit moebius members jan duivenvoorden and richard van den bogaert. creating a vault of hard to classify material from mid eighties until early nineties, it didn t get out there for whatever reason. after de snoei 1 appeared on world of rubber 3, the big follow-up is here.

a complex web – the story of dive position and the shining path ... began in 1982 when peter miller (aka dr. william s ray – vocals, tapes, guitar) met andrew millar (aka maurice spectograph the nose-y pieman – program execution) in gold coast, australia. while sharing a similar taste in music, they decided to form a band, so dive position was born. equipped with a korg synthesiser and tascam 4-track recorder, they -wanted to have the sound of kraftwerk, the groove of can, and the menace of throbbing gristle-, ending up with -a cross of suicide and the residents-, as peter recalls. in a local record shop they met stig andre leonardson (aka vincent blackshadow), who joined the duo on percussion and drum machine programming. their motto was -now is then-. dive position then became the fatal charm around 1984, and the fatal charm became the shining path who eventually released their only album -basic training manual- in an edition of only 250 copies, most probably in 1986. the band then started to drift apart, and shortly after andrew sadly passed away – this compilation -now is then- comprised of previously unreleased dive position and the shining path material is dedicated to his memory.
kscope are extremely proud to be the home of the new studio album from tangerine dream, entitled quantum gate, released to coincide with and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the band.
tangerine dream have been a fundamental influence on electronic and progressive music since their formation in west berlin, 1967. inspiring genres, musicians and other art forms, from the future sound of london to porcupine tree, the widely popular tv show stranger things (for which their music also featured in) to seminal video game grand theft auto v (for which they helped to write the soundtrack). the group, led by edgar froese, have received seven grammy nominations, written over 100 studio albums and developed instantly recognisable synth-based instrumental music based on a meditative musical experience, that came to prominence in the 70s and 80s.
the new album, quantum gate features an updated, contemporary development of their trademark sound: sequencer-driven electronica covering a wide range of moods and atmospheres from ambient soundscapes to energetic, upbeat moments.

the album is a collection of wonderful, emotional and very personal songs. written and performed by peter wangel, the lyrics are inspired by multi award winning, temporary norwegian writer karl ove knausgard and deal with very personal subjects from his own life. “the previous releases were about the “lonely” feelings, the feelings that only existed in me, the feelings i wanted to set free for a long time. the new album is about my life as it is right now, about all the thoughts, expectations, worries and the happiness that comes with a new life as a family. this is a very personal album, but i also hope to express something very ordinary and something that most people can relate to.- also musically the album is a big step forward for wangel, the melodies are still subtle, but offer more nuances and colors.
bionda e lupo are like little you ll have heard before, a boy/girl band like no other. synth wave is fed a line of modern alienation, delusory disco to a disdainful drum beat, house emptied and ridiculed. rhythms are stark, melodies are as mechanical as the lyrics. -zug der vogel- is sparse, vocals intertwine in an empty embrace whilst bars sparkle. -twoi glasza- is more playful. bright words shimmer against sweeping strings. the past is parodied across the ep but nowhere more so than in -die kinder aus dem park.- a former classic dug out before being peppered by machine gun percussion. the stilted rhyme of -eckstein- closes, a ballad of bittersweet images and lost hopes.
