this record collects many intimate things and singular ideas about voiski, it is also an excellent synthesis of his musical style, and how it is evolving towards a more and more unknown territory, where his -post-trance- idea collides classic detroit influences, 90 s techno (with that underworld cover obviously) and a very unique sonic identity he has developed playing his synths with a bright and powerful sound design, and rich arpeggios.

new york collective sheik ’n’ beik follow up a slew of lauded 12 inchs from japans keita sano, legowelt & xosar and their previous effort from hermans with the richly emotive return of voiski. with a back catalogue of considerable depth - one that’s touched the likes of l.i.e.s and delsin, dekmantel’s ‘ufo’ series - voiski’s latest offering carries with it a trademark degree of bite whilst remaining balanced with the sort of moody melodicism that fans both old and new will relish. ‘5th dolphin transmission’ kicks things off with a tense sequence tumbling through granular drums and a staggered, luminescent synth line. ‘let down disco’ then dims the lights slightly with soft, buoyant melodies and flickering high frequencies that round off a nicely varied release and another solid addition to the sheik n beik catalogue.

envisaging a trustworthy approach to sound, french dj and producer voiski has steadily built a name for himself in contemporary left-field dance music. he took a singular path in techno, oscillating between experimental projects and signature sound dance floor material. the parisian brings his versatile skills together on the third installment of dekmantels ufo series, serving up five completely different yet coherent sounding tracks.

the italian duo -the analogue cops- under their aliases ocp and voiski joins the family of the monkey bar. here with two very special tracks and in the first vinyl of a tribute series called moog series in honor to the legendary club from barcelona.

the ep is called spotlight diktat in reference to the feeling some djs have when they are on tour. a kind of dj melancholia generated by airplanes, dehumanized hotels, waiting hours in boring terminals, basically traveling alone. i made these tracks out of this mood. at first they sounds like the typical groovy dance tracks, but when the melody comes out, you immediately feel there is something wrong now the track is on and you still dance (of course its made for that) but you could almost cry to it too. so this is what happens when a dj or a producer has to do their job, but they aren t really in the mood for it. when the party comes, they just forget everything and make the show happen regardless. they have to bear the spotlight diktat and keep on entertaining people regardless of what they have in mind.

french producer voiski returns to l.i.e.s. with another 12 inch of his diverse and refreshing style of techno. spanning across the board we get epic dramatic builds, post shuffle headnodders and floor crushing sub-bass grooves over these three tracks. guaranteed to cause major damage wherever and whenever this record is played.
