the debut release on hospital records latest exclusive signing lynx. this southampton based produced is known to many within the drum n bass scene for his unique, rhythmic, anthemic productions, and for those who dont know be assured youll be hearing a lot more from over the coming months. this ep of four stand out cuts introduces the diverse sound of a producer at the top of his game.

traffic jam featuring fellow studio companion hellrazor has all the brooding tension of 5 o clock rush hour on the m1. never quite reaching utter road rage its scatty beats and warped basslines are backed up by sporadic car horns and traffic atmospheres. nina is a track very close to lynx, written about a relationship that was never meant to be. heartfelt chords and vocals reminisce on what once was. as the vocal whispers – love grows naturally…. and so does the track. as supported by marky, shy fx, calibre, marcus intalex, bailey, lenzman and more.

detail 005 is the next single from label boss lynx. dirty red is a bit of a monster and has been getting huge support from marky, marcus intalex, nu:tone bailey and shy fx. the intro builds with sci fi strings that progress like a train hurtling down the tracks out of control. it reaches a crescendo with the sound of squealing brakes and drops into a menacing talk box bassline and lynx’s sharp 2 step beats.5.a.m soul city is a collaboration between lynx and london born, sydney based soul vocalist, spikey tee. the track has the vibe of walking through the backstreets of a city in the early hours of the morning. subdued chords, scattered pianos and rustles of the streets and distant cars litter this liquid vocal track

detail 004 is a solo venture from label boss lynx, showing the more dj / club orientated sound of detail recordings. the a side, chess funk, has been on the circuit for sometime being supported by fabio (radio 1), marcus intalex, calibre, bailey (1xtra), spy, artificial intelligence and many more, plus is featured on markys forthcoming fabric live cd. the track has all the suspense of bob james music or a score from a bond movie, with rising crescendos and brass stabs that also wouldnt sound out of place in steve mcqueens bullit. the foundry takes a much slower brooding approach, still with a cinematic feel using ethnic vibes in the intro, dropping into a devastatingly sluggish beat and bass combo that swamps any club with huge, warm, yet slightly unnerving bass.

when a label such as 31 records releases a record its always worth taking note & this ep delivers. calibres intro finally surfaces, and it does what it says on the tin, an awesome intro track.
