leonardo returns with another 4 track ep on his etheric imprint. the voyage ep shows a diverse selection of tracks ranging from peak time to downtempo. the offering delivers energy through solid punchy drums and simple but intense percussion with the main synth bringing a head turning edge. symmetry has a late night feeling to it fusing primitive and hardcore elements over a broken beat structure to create a unique elevating gem. spooky deep tech track the afterlife is dubby work out with haunting vocal samples and trippy synth hooks while droplets completes the ep off in a downtempo vibe incorporating the same edgy raw feeling of many of his previous productions.

leonardo arrives as a new artist in 2018 having been promptly picked up by alan fitzpatrick for his we are the brave label project. a string of releases are planned and in place for 2018 on watb with offerings also coming here on his own imprint etheric, which serves as an outlet for leonardo s music outside of his ongoing relationship with we are the brave. the origin ep is a collection of four tracks that draw on primitive feelings, heavily influenced by recent trips travelling through peru and south america. the ep has a trippy hedonistic feel and represents leonardo s take on a tribal rave in the depths on the amazonian rainforest, while still drawing on futuristic and electronic elements.

its already been two years since leonardo martellis debut with the four-tracker menti singole. he has since been following the direction he took with this first release, at a rather slow path, releasing a lone and haunted mini-album, previsto, in the meantime. with menti singole vol.2, martelli establishes a picture of his music, an update of his aspirations in the feminine.

electro kicks, raw textures, ominous choirs: l immaginario, previstos opening track, ties a bound between martellis two releases on antinote, giving us one last glimpse at the uninhabited post-apocalyptic landscapes drawn in menti singole. however, this time leonardo martelli explores a more urban universe, as the use of rap samples on negli abissi and lo schema suggests. martelli exploits their aggressiveness in a way that somehow reminds us of minimalist rap tapes from memphis. the third tracks title makes it even clearer: called leggende metropolitane, the song is a trip into the darkest blind alleys of the city, an invitation to wander among human wastes, driven by its light kick.

seth troxler offers up the next installment in a lauded series of 12inches on his no nonsense, club-focused imprint play it say it. with previous releases coming from butch, the mekanism and steve lawler, next in line is a new addition to the roster: leonardo gonnelli.

with previous form on colors and love fever, remi mazet returns on relatively new label social joy with a deep and refined trip through house music as played by a true musician. there’s a dusky, cinematic quality to the whole ep, from the captivating intro to the sweet rhodes soul of -safran- and on to the broken wheeze of -jazz e-. -shrine- has a more forthright club-ready veneer, while -jammin- brings furthermore machine-oriented grooves, but at all times the devil is in the details, and this record is most devilish indeed. one for all those craving a little more subtlety and flair in their house music.

channeling the spirit of moodymann, rick wilhite and other such detroit house greats, guilhem monin follows up on the promise of his debut for colors last year with this sizzling slice of rough hewn deep house gold where the samples stay locked in the groove and the atmosphere of the room is captured forever on the record. -social music- would surely not sound out of place on kdj, while -i plan to stay a believer- calls upon the warming tones of rick wade et al amidst an irresistible 909 house bump. -vlg- gets a little more sassy with its choppy edit style, and then -people- brings in a fist-pumping riff to hit the sweet spot later in the night.
