die großen hits der rocksteady-Ära von duke reid sind auf diesem album zusammengefasst. auf 180g vinyl gepresst und von den original-masterbändern gemastert, ist diese rarität nach mehreren jahrzehnten nun wieder auf vinyl erhältlich. seit den 60er jahren produzierte duke reid auf jamaika ska und rocksteady. sein tonstudio war die erste anlaufstelle für diesen sound, das label trojan (auf dem diese compilation erscheint) hat sich nach dem soundsystem-truck von duke reid benannt. duke reid liebte amerikanischen jazz und blues und ließ diese leidenschaft in die produktionen einfließen. seine produktionen gelten bis heute als weit ausgefeilter als die der konkurrenz. diese kopplung enthält jede menge raritäten, aber auch welt-hits wie “the tide is high” von den paragons.

transmissions from the cyber dance imprint have been sporadic since its inception in 2005, but when they arrive they are always something very special indeed. ostensibly one of italo discos great lost producers, we suspect that bandidos gang may well be a nom de plume for one of the labels many associates. whatever their provenance, the tracks certainly sound like vintage italo, with >marinche< leading with a pulsating bass arpeggio and synth horn melody worthy of moroder, whilst the flemming dalum & steen gjerulff remix adds layers of vocoder and a variety of cosmic accents to its sturdy frame. >last train to tucamari< meanwhile takes a more languid approach, pulling in an opposite direction to the speeding train samples, whilst flemming dalum & mike saltas remix adds some guitar licks, hazy synth atmospherics and even a flute solo which just adds to the classic italo feel.
