chris kordas the (wo)man of the future erscheint endlich zum ersten mal auf vinyl und bringt das legendäre album von 2003 zurück ins rampenlicht. diese sammlung subversiver dancefloor-hymnen mit tracks, die ursprünglich auf international deejay gigolo records veröffentlicht wurden, verbindet scharfe soziale kommentare mit kordas unverwechselbarer stimme und einer reduzierten, hypnotischen produktion.

chris kordas neueste ep -primitive man- hinterfragt den mythos der menschlichen Überlegenheit und die daraus resultierende barbarei. trotz unserer gegenwärtigen besessenheit von sozialer gerechtigkeit besteht nach wie vor eine große ungleichheit zwischen menschen und nichtmenschen. die Überlegenheit unserer spezies spiegelt die biblische aufforderung wider, sich die erde untertan zu machen und über alle ihre geschöpfe zu herrschen.

diese ep ist ein beweis für das bemerkenswerte talent von chris korda und strotzt nur so vor beißender satire, aufschlussreichen kommentaren und tanzbaren tracks.

die tracks wurden in berlin produziert, mit einem nüchternen arsenal an nord lead synthesizern und einer analogen adx1 drum machine, die mit chris kordas bahnbrechendem polymeter sequenzer programmiert wurden, begleitet von baums einzigartiger stimme mit einem vintage-mikrofon.

chris kordas neues album -more than four- ist eine rhythmische ketzerei: elektronische tanzmusik, die nicht nur im ungeraden takt, sondern auch im komplexen polymeter spielt. jeder track des albums verwendet mindestens vier taktarten auf einmal, darunter 3, 4, 5 und 7. der titel ist eine anspielung auf das miles davis-album -four & more- von 1966.

venusia ist das erste offizielle werk der freunde und kollaborateure henrik meierkord (cello), pawel kobak (flöte), marco lucchi (elektronik) und rocco saviano (gitarre).

next up on bucharest’s raw tools label is börft co-founder, johan sturesson, also known to be part of the swedish electronic trio, frak. the four-track ep consists in music from the private vaults of the producer, that has been kept secret for almost 20 years. rough and gritty, his analogue approach and stripped down sound define the record. starting with the rave sounding “uncle owl” and then moving to a more darkly atmospheric title track, kord shows his muscles on the flipside with some more techno infused and bass driven dancefloor cuts.
always under the radar, johan has been operating raw electronics since the late 80’s, developing his distinctive sound. as kord, he has released on several swedish labels, including his own imprint. together with jan svensson and björn isgren as frak, they have released music on labels such as kontra musik, lux rec and midlight records.

the concept of this record is simple, 4 artists join forces to create these non compromising, focussed dj tools which marks the start of a new release series. the berlin based producers avgusto, jamie anderson and strisc. are no stranger to florian meindl s flash recordings with several releases on the label and rekord 61 from moscow is a new addition to the roaster. vinyl only.

so far the most -punk- release in the borft catalog. this is the meeting between johan sturesson (kord) and petter svensson (nebula). while petter has his background as a punkrocker johan has some years of experience in the electronic vein this meeting result in a ebm/punk/techno ep dirtier than ever. lim ed 300x handstamped + sticker.

2016 sees the 3rd anniversary of houndstooth, and the label mark this with their 50th release. tessellations is a compilation of brand new, exclusive tracks from each of the 14 artists to release on the label. the release serves to simultaneously trace common threads and highlight tensions within such a stylistically expansive roster. this 12inch sampler collects four dancefloor-leaning cuts onto vinyl for the first time. the atmospheric jungle of special requests live from alpha centauri could be the soundtrack to an intergalactic chase scene, whilst akkords vector grinds gradually towards an explosion of mechanistic breaks, like an ancient machine brought to life. cant stop sees marquis hawkes dusting down the 303 for a playful yet powerful acid banger, before second storeys elephant ride draws syncopated funk from his machines in his inimitable style.

this next release on konstruktiv is the super special vinyl version of the *vremya versions ep* and it contains two rolando and two unbalance remixes.

rekord 61s first release of 2015 is the strident *sverh* on his own konstruktiv imprint, backed with 3 remixes from radio slave.
radio slaves f.y.n remix 1 draws on the essence of daniel bell, combining a sparse drum track with occasional *sverh* vocal while f.y.n remix 2 kills the kicks completely and favours saturated bleeps and ominous atmospherics. f.y.n remix 3 continues the distorted motif but pairs it with pin sharp and powerful drums. a release that is sure to be deployed in multiple variants due to its jigsaw-like aesthetics.

bristol-born and london-based producer rekordah takes charge of lo fi funk records second instalment. as well as running the independent label pollen, rekordah also promotes a series of parties of the same name with efa (which have hosted artists of the caliber of mike slott and slugabed among others), and crafts his own brand of cosmic, dismembered hip hop, in that wonky style everyone is raving about.
>cherry coke< on the a side, is full of bubbling sounds that evoke the soda drink your nephew drinks while he plays with that atari you found in the attic, played over a dilla style beat, whilst in the flip side we find >butternut<, in which p-funk synthesisers rise side to side with space age special effects, frantic syncopated drums and 22nd century boom bap.
