time for a little recognition… pets welcome a true polish techno founding father to the fold: jacek sienkiewicz. dj since the early 90s, producer since the late 90s and one of the earliest artists to stamp their country down on the techno map, jacek was one of the first polish producers to be signed by the likes of trapez, cocoon and klang and laid down the foundations for the likes of pets founders catz n dogz several years later when they emerged as 3 channels. og status confirmed, hes remained just as consistent as he is influential. this single is proof: ‘su17 is a bubbling sine cauldron that starts with a simmer but builds to a boil with its ever-morphing, lava-like flow. expert drum momentum and sudden layers of instrumental help to create a fluid three-track-in-one experience that spellbinds you crowd for the entire eight minutes without realising. ‘mustang is a cascading synth odyssey that gently rises and falls like an escher looped staircase. gradually building in momentum with more of jaceks signature hypnosis flare, its not until the drums double up with an almost live-style visceral feel that you realise just how high jaceks taken you. it comes complete with a star-lit switch from berlins serial innovator tobias, where the synths are deftly refocused and a whole layer of orchestral delight are layered within.

after storming the charts in 2012 with mysterious 7 inch championed by todd terje & many others, zambon & kapsa - the guys from the very polish cut outs are back with more goods! following the successful debut, they bring us a delicious 12 inch release with 4 amazing edits based on obscure polish records from the 80s. a side is curated by ptaki, a mysterious duo hailing from warsaw. ptaki (which means birds in polish) fly high and want to keep their true identity under the radar. nevertheless, they serve two amazing cuts here, both based on obscure polish jazzfunk. krystyna is the choice cut, with its infectious vocal hook and irresistible groove. marek is a piece of wonderful balearic slow house with rich rhythm and crazy synth action in the middle. b side comes from maciek sienkiewicz, one of the finest purveyors of balearic grooves in poland. two tracks served here wouldnt sound out of place in alfredos set. song for mohindar is the lead track, with its ethereal new-age atmospherics and exotic instrumentation. syntetyczna kobieta lux is an electronic burner that you may (or may not) know from last years tvpc beats in space show.

the clue is in the title of the release from new rebellion signing enki. a double odyssey of spiraling trippy grooves, >tim burton abduction< is all spooky fx, organs and dense rolling percussion a superb slice of heady tripped out infectious techno that is going down a storm with the rebels crew this summer!

with >dazed<, senking continues his exploration of the abysses of sound to create dark and gloomy atmospheres. the slow beats of the two tracks are accompanied by tender, harmonic melodies, but broken by nervous, unsteady tones which seem to be a warning against hidden dangers. the first track >the dance hall walk< also features a vocal sample by micheal cramm - a text which reflects the nervousness and excitement in anticipation of some thrilling things to come. like >tweek<, senkings last ep, >dazed< is not only concerned with the depths of sound, but also with the depths of the human psyche, where there is no escape other than music itself.

since the last senking album >pong< (r-n122) was a great success in 2010 and sold out quickly raster-noton swiftly asked for a follow-up of massels sound cosmos. on >tweek< senking again reveals his sense of cineastic atmospheres and dark abysmal depths of sound, which are subordinate to extremely slow choky basses and delayed beats. references to dubstep are rather the result of testing the outlying areas of the frequency spectrum than a direct relation to the genre. nevertheless it seemed very obvious to release senkings sound on 12inch vinyl to follow the footsteps of >plasticstar< (r-n081) and >pruitt igoe< (r-n124), >tweek< is meant to be a dj-tool for a club environment. >tweek< refers to a character of the well known us series >southpark<, who plays with feelings of incertitude and nervous decease. the album documents the eagerness to experiment and indicates astonishing ideas shining through the dark substance. the tracks even reveal cheerful and comical features.

in the world of factory presets, default settings and copy-paste ethics, there are few artists that actually care to make a difference. and -who told you that?-, 29th release on warsaw recognition label, is certainly a voice to be heard. the title track is another subtle narrative from label boss jacek sienkiewicz. eerie chord and a solid, damp beat from the start are underpinned by sherds of dialogue - snippets of words and laughter keep coming back in the mix, providing some sort of uneasy commentary towards todays minimal house formula. but at some point the voices disappear - and then the tracks gently goes somewhere outside the boundaries of todays club music, somewhere otherworldly. this shift, albeit amazingly subtle, is a leap towards music free of any defined context, far beyond dancefloor and definitely original. if this sneak peak into the possible futures of manmachine induced visions is too much to handle, there is still the b-side of this release. two tracks here - both clocking around mere 5 minutes - are prime exercises in compact, clever, tight and efficient club tools. uplifting -cobalt drive- is bound to to be quoted and reworked into many forms of a late-night burner. patefon, on the other hand, is a peak-time stormer with its stuttering chords and moody samples, supposedly picked from some vintage shellac discs

first seconds into already 27th release on recognition, and we immediately know that there is serious business going on here. stunningly complex drum track goes like clockwork, only setting the scene for what is to come. forget the craft of drum programming - we are talking another dimension here. >modern dance< is like being suddenly dropped into suspended animation: having that peculiar feeling that the world around is accelerating to the verge of a seizure - and at the same time this very world feels so slow... unnamable, transparent sheets of sound almost give no room to breathe - but ones breath is taken away by the magnificent landscape it s about to appear. shapes shift under half-closed eyelids, and while the low, peaceful yet sad chant comes in, one can feel it like an omnipresent breath, burning hot and marble cold at the same time. this mysterious and heart-wrenching voice comes courtesy of one yula, and were gonna surealy hear much more from her in the future. and it seems that the beats literally start to boil... rhythms shuffle and swing, and taken the lack of floating melodies abundant in jaceks earlier output this track is even more outstanding from theproducers former work - probably acting as a bridge towards new visions, appearing in the confidence of the new, almost-perfect studio.

the fifth release on frown recordings is a collaboration between sorgenkint, salva and the hardtechno hero boris s. it s called >voll drauf< and features 3 totally different mixes and styles. while the >salva mix< is more techno influenced, the >sorgen mix< surprises with a freakin acidline, and there s last but not least the >boris s. hardtechno remix<. guess what style this is
