nice price deal !!! featuring vinyl exclusive track! signor andreoni and alessio mereu team up yet again for another solid effort as bunkers! although they have just formed this year, this italian superduo has already released three eps, with their most recent finding itself at the #1 position on richie hawtins chart for september. aside from his work in bunkers, mereu has appeared on a variety of labels like cmyk, harthouse and toys for boys. meanwhile, producer and classically trained guitarist andreoni is known for his releases (both solo and in collaboration with samim) on tuningspork. from the swelling tension of >holding back< that evokes suppressed love, to the staccato onomatopoeia in >please say whoo<, to the swingy and syncopated soul of >back to reality< – its clear that bunkers have mastered the house tradition of tension, buildup and release.

contexterrior & tuning spork were launched in the early 2000s by jay haze and soon became critically acclaimed & influential, establishing - along with perlon - the new school minimal house & techno sounds of the 00s.

this various e.p start with a cosmic transmission mixed with funky beats and keys by german vinyl junky jupiter tuning center. second track by label owner petr serkin is many filtered chords and guitars, keep the same vibes. on the b side, russian musician buzz compass, already signed releases on glenview and no more hits, he delivered here a deep groovy thing with beautiful voice parts. and the final one is a very melodic tune by four walls from belarus, who already was released on kolour ltd and traxx underground.

the new tuning features such an awesome dave dk mix of dusty kids >jknoussa< and rebolledo (pachango boys) is doing a spaced out disco mix of le dust suckers >everybody used to<. white coloured vinyl!

today, the pit lane is decorated with red carpet and golden leaf for two exceptional talents: from the black forest patrick chardronnet for the gui boratto (bra)-team, and from the westerwald dominik eulberg (ger) for the extrawelt-team. both drivers are concentrated. they are wearing shimmering overalls and golden helmets. they get into their softly purring apparillos. two pairs of gloves at the steering wheel. the heat is flimmering over the hot asphalt. during the race, the gui boratto / patrick chardronnet-team focuses on deep bass lines and a constant improvement in performance with a slightly shifted ideal line, and only one pit stop. in three words: mighty, majestic, thunderous! team-extrawelt acts a bit more flexible. dominik eulberg either puts on the handbrake or drives at full speed. he is fast, he is flexible, and his elegant turns make the audience go wild. but in the end, both sportsmen share the champagne, and the after-show party will go down in the history of the tunig series. ready, steady, go!

belgian producers sierra sam & marcus vector return to their house-oriented project d.i.y. (dumb irresponsible youth) for three more sly, sexy groovers, with contributions from dop, big bully and markus fix.
while sam and marcus are generally known for their more techno-focused productions, last years house tools vol. 1 was a minor hit, with tracks included in ellen alliens resident advisor podcast, jay hazes recent fabric47 mix cd, and m.a.n.d.y.s charts. since then, they ve kept busy with their own toys for boys label, meanwhile sierra sam has co-produced the debut album by bloody mary on contexterrior.
still, they ve found the time to crank out these new elegant-yet-sleazy cuts, and while vol. 1 was purely instrumental, for vol. 2 they ve roped in some guest vocalists. first up is their collab with comrades dop (circus company, eklo, supplement facts). >kilimanjaro< features d.i.y.s tribal bounce combined with dops seedy, trent reznor-on-opiates vocal delivery.
the flipside has two versions of >suck my caulk<: d.i.y.s original elevates thelevel of melody and sunshine, weaving in the voice of big bully (known forhis work on spectral, get physical and vakant). markus fix of cecille offers his own interpretation, bringing the track down into deep house territory. placed in the right hands, these tools can do some serious dancefloor damage!

alex celler has made quite a splash in 2009! since his tuningspork debut ep trapped in dub, hes had a hitrecord la palma for arearemote, and consequently teamed up with fellow londoner anthea of phonica records. as anthea & celler they released a pair of 12?s forfreak n chic and cÚcille, and now their third effort as a duo appears on tuningspork. down with g.o.d. is a chunky and forceful workout, fuelled by jesus juice, with a distorted bass bounce and vaporous dubovertones that just might make the dancefloorbreak down and speak in tongues.

berlin-based belgian producers sierra sam & marcus vector present the debut release of d.i.y. (dumb irresponsible youth), their new house-oriented project. sierra sam (toysforboys, einmaleins, trapez) and marcus vector (toysforboys, nomor, playground) recently released their first joint effort for contexterrior. working together once again, this time around theyve put aside their usual dark techno inclinations, opting instead for uninhibited house led by analog percussion sounds. drumroll, please… >pimp my saw< is a frenzy layers and layers of toms, kicks, steeldrums and clicks. >screw it up< is a more melodic affair, with the classic build-up and tension that defines classic house material, plus a hint of latino finesse. on the flip, >hammer of love< closes things out with a shuffly balance between the organic and the artificial, with looming atmospheric ambience to set a darker tone. these three tracks are the perfect tools to use where the sun dont shine. once again, tuningspork records ventures away from its trademark funky house in exchange for something a little more unexpected. last summer, the label issued >free your mind< (tsextra), a baleraric groove crafted by jay haze and ricardo villalobos. now comes another non-sequitur: >comptine d un autre été: l après-midi< (tsultra), mr. tiersens piano composition reconstructed for the dancefloor by jay. french composer yann tiersen has a minimalist approach that many electronic producers could learn from. his piece (the title of which roughly means >nursery rhyme of another summer: the afternoon<) provides the basis for this melancholy track. djs addicted to hyperbolic effects plugins might hesitate to play this - but those who appreciate subtlety will be rewarded here. tiersens original composition is tastefully manipulated into a track that makes sense in a club context, yet sets itself apart from the usual techno/house fare, providing a rare introspective moment on the dancefloor. and it might be worth mentioning: if you play this track and the floor doesnt fill up with ladies, then it probably means youre djing at a gay club. (not that theres anything wrong with that!)

this is the third tuning spork blues experiment. inspired by legends like miles davis and modern day techno producers like dandy jack, andreoni is forging wacked out new house sounds, in the true spirit of jazz. this ep is no exception, and it shows why the likes of ricardo villalobos believe that signor andreoni is an amazing musician. to begin the experiment, andreoni jams you deep into space, with some seriously fucked up effects that will have you hiding under your bedclothes. sleepover is perhaps the most techno cut on this release, but the deep haze of dub still remains, over a banging percussive track. on members the melodies are perfect as you expect from signor andreoni, and here the acid line is more prominent in the mix, over deep warbling bass notes. in borderline, nothing is as it seems. melodies fall down cliffs into weird drones, and everything seems a little skewed. this completes a 4 track ep from a unique talent in the world of deep electronic house music, with 4 distinctive colourful tracks that take the genre far away from the middlebrow. make sure you check out our third tuning spork blues experiment, even if you spent most of science class using bunsen burners as water pistols
