the debut ep release from amduscias (the evil doppelganger of an already known producer) presents a selection of tracks woven with british folklore and occultist connotation taking the fringes of uk bass music into a dark twisted new pasture, bass and beats ready for the dancefloor but equally horrifying to the headphone listener - skewing techno and dubstep to its farthest reaches.

following a string of releases on jungle gym records and u.t.t.u. related mini-label vector works, intimacy returns to his hq of dm hardware for the “welcome to my life” ep. across three reflective and cosmic originals, producer parks perdue unleashes an array of extra-lush pads, and deeply melancholic acid bass. sci-fi atmospheres and nods to classic rave and electro squeeze their way into bricked waveforms… rough but not too rough distortion… and a hard hitting but bubbly remix by belgian producer innershades rounds out the 12”, solidifying it’s direct and inspirational intent. with “welcome to my life”, intimacy adds another gem to his astral catalog.

newcastle born, melbourne-based producer cooper bowman steps out as roman nails with his first 12” for beat concern. following tapes on where to now? (uk), night people (us) + rhythm works (au), roman nails has maintained a steady flow of experimental techno over the last few years. utilising a minimal, cv-triggered hardware set-up and from a perspective rooted in improvisation, rn is a unique beast. the tongue-in-cheek titled, all hardware no tools, is his most concise and well-considered release to date, offering noirish synth tones, slinking basslines and captivating interplay between a 707 and 727. 300 copies.

next up on thomas urv and miss mostly’s ploink imprint comes a full-length album from the godfather of norwegian techno mental overdrive.

schaltkreis wassermann is one of the pioneering electronic groups of the early eighties. their album psychotron of 1982 has become a much sought after cult object. now in flagranti have remixed released and unreleased material by schaltkreis wassermann from the early 80ies.

be y&#333,kai’ is the collaborative project from techno duo minilogue’s sebastian mullaert , fellow swedish composer douglas holmquist and celebrated illustrator/animator kristofer ström . uniting music with art and the moving pic ture, ‘facefist’ leads a multimedia experience through a trio of mesmerising audio/visual trips - two films (‘facefist’ and ‘facemissed’) featuring japanese anime-inspired shape-shifting creatures and a third more abstract, alternate vision/soundscape( ‘facekissed’).standalone track ‘facetwist’ is a more propulsive version of leadtrack ‘facefist’.this debut release will be landing as a rare treat from hypercolour offshoot space hardware with a limited run of vinyl. art flourishes when the freedom, flow and creativity intersect. often a direct response to resistance, art transcends borders and the physical to allow transmission of the soul, emotion and consciousness.

based in bristol, space hardware is a project headed up by hypercolour boss jamie russell that is rooted in an appreciation of p­-funk and the outermost hemispheres of soul and disco. so far the imprint has released material from glenn astro, blacksmif, deft and placeholder and, continuing to shapeshift with each new 12-, the next in the series comes courtesy of apollo and delsin affiliate bakradze. also operating under his gacha and winter flags aliases, bakradze is an artist who uses his own live instrumentation, an mpc and classic korg synths to build rich and woozy melodies that he anchors down with technical rhythm structures. his message from home delves deep into this framework and is packed with a serious degree of flair. astute sound design, balmy guitar tones and loose, natural drum patterns pepper an eglo-esque sound in another fine addition to the space hardware catalogue.

bratha is the studio project of the analogue cops and no mad ronin. their first two eps on their own label bratha have disappeared from the shops in just a couple of week. for their first release on restoration they have been joined by the great jerome sydenham on the title track i cant stay an afterparty anthem smooth and intense, hypnotic and charming, an outstanding balance of hardware power and restrained expertise. the craziest come out, on the other side, has the trademark features of the bratha trio: entrailing, dark and spellbinding and with an heavy pace on the dancefloor

renegade hardware present – chroma. formed back in 2011, the chroma crew crashed onto the scene right from the start, with essential tracks on hardware, program, commercial suicide, and their very own coded label. subsequent releases have blown speakers and minds in equal measure, and now the newcastle lads are back with the follow up to their hardware release: machine which featured on the heavyweight limber ep.

in february various release the first offering from new signing hardware, already getting airplay from rob da bank (radio 1), marry anne hobbs (radio 6) and john kennedy (xfm). this 12 inch will definitely start of a busy year to a great start.

following on from deft earlier this year and the inaugural release for this label from placeholder in 2012, space hardware returns with a new ep from blacksmif. born yemi olagbaiye, he is a producer who has received hearty props from mary ann hobbs, fact mag and radio 1 for his strange and wonderful sounds on labels like blah blah blah, paradise club and tom middletons sounds of the cosmos. dutchman and klakson co-boss dexter also turns in a remix to complete this package.

the man with a hand in hypercolour, hypeltd, glass table, losing suki and sneaker social club has such an inexhaustible enthusiasm for all forms of electronic music that he is starting a new label! space hardware is jamie russells latest project and comes to fruition with the inaugural sounds of placeholder, an artist russell unearthed one afternoon on soundcloud. the labels mo is simple: to release spaced-out headphone music for the rave generation, where this debut ep consists of two original tracks from the mysterious placeholder, plus a tidy remix from uncanny valleys jacob korn.
