this is the first of many bernadette trax vinyl only releases to come. named after my mother who got me started in all this, bernadette trax is my personal label, a vehicle for my music and a labour of love, specifically my love for deep underground house music of all kinds. the culmination of 30 years of influences, clubbing and too many late nights, this ep features my wonderfully talented friend and vocalist anna krestense gantelius glahn. hope you like it and play it

perc trax slips out its first cheeky white label in over two years, pulling together two secret weapons from perc’s sets this year. first off perc trax newcomer tymon rips into perc’s own “hyperlink” giving it a shot of adrenalin which has been eating festivals alive all summer.
on the b-side ansome returns to perc trax for the first time since in infamous british steel release twisting manni dee’s “london isn’t england” into a grinding mass of kick drums and percussion, layering ewa justka’s vocal over one of his rawest productions to date.

so you thought u-trax was all about fancy, state-of-the-art, absolutely undanceable, hard-to-understand, semi-intelligent techno? well, you’re absolutely right, but this u-trax-release is just not! produced by german heinrich tillack, these tick trax volume 1 are just the good old way of making techno. raw & uncomplicated, in the tradition of the chicago underground.

hailing from wellington, aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud, scent is a newcomer to the scene but long time gc of modern hypnosis. his first sighting featured a track ‘devils dread’ on indigo movement’s 5-year digital compilation december 2017. heaving at 140 beats per minute, ‘trax’ creates a certain energy similar to early jungle riddims. chopped percussion, giant synth stabs, weighty driving kicks with underlining sub bass and the odd flute build the track to a halt before commencing it’s minimal technoesq break down. ‘just a dream’ a rooted scentimental dub which takes you deep into a place amongst your rem sleep with sparse whaling strings and swinging percs. scent debut solo release. one to watch.

jump trax is another essential piece of early chicago house music crafted by the legendary duane thamm jr back in 1984. fusing together a myriad of influences including early 80s euro pop, italo disco and hi nrg, thamm jr was responsible for helping create and influence the burgeoning house sound that would emanate from the city all throughout the second half of the 1980s. not only were these sounds new and fresh, they were experimental too, jump trax sees the bpm s gradually shift throughout the duration of the tracks seamlessly giving the more adventurous djs out there more ammunition and room to experiment with styles and bpms. a truly visionary approach to production and all recorded and mixed within chicago s city limits by thamm jr at his reel to reel studio located in villa park, illinois. jump trax continues to be as influential today as it was back in 84, with many top dj s still citing the record as a go to, powerful indeed. chicagos still music are proud to present this fully legit, remastered and repressed piece of chicago house history. a truly pivotal record now made available again for 2018. essential sound for those who love the real deal snoozing not advised, og copies of this monster are hard to come by!

long-serving us house champ dj dan dropped an absolute bombshell when his slammin trax vol.1 ep landed earlier this year, and now the veteran big room party starter is back with another clutch of tracks on his peerless instereo label. alongside fleetwood smack he drops the crazily funky vocal jam do 2 u, while his remix of conga squads live at k-market- brings a little fidget-esque hype into the mix. the b-side kicks off with jarred gallos feisty roller peep the technique, and then it s back over to dan in partnership with mike balance for the raw, jacking overworked.

us garage doesnt get more bumping than this of course its plastik people flying the flag for the evergreen sound where swing is king and a diva vocal is more than welcome. soledrifter wastes no time in diving into the funky house mindset on this various artists 12inch, keeping things heady and tracky where it counts before snazzy trax brings in a cheeky twist on a bona fide garage classic, now called the experience. joe olindo shines bright with the sexy, sharply pointed how i knew, and then lombard street takes things smoother on closing track whats wrong.

jaffa surfa also known as zoltan pal is hailing from hungary and has released a few records already on other labels like tape hiss for example that already caught our attention a bit earlier. therefor we were quite happy to receive a demo from him and we signed almost all the tracks that he sent us. three tracks aiming straight at the dance floor and we hope that you enjoy and play them as much as we do.

shall i call you bobby? the second release on the swedish label jack trax on wax. on this release produced by tsr and joseph garber we have five versions of the track ”shall i call you bobby?” and one bonus track made with some help from the swedish synth duo engine one ”jack bobby jack!”. we are also happy to announce two remixes made by some great friends and producers.

you know when the dj drops something so special you’re mentally forced to ask for the track and the reply you get is ”its my own unreleased track”. that’s how i (art alfie) stumbled upon all three of these. about ten years ago i witnessed van rivers & the subliminal kid (peder mannerfelt) turn berghain upside-down with the dark techno epos ”mars attacks”. around the same time i had the luck to see nils westerlund boogle minds with the broken beat psychedelics of ”suspiria” at a stockholm open air. last but not least, a couple of years ago i heard ”thicker than blood” for the first time, like the sirens in greek mythology, it lured people on to the dance floor at stockholms classic summer hot spot f12. i’ve been playing these tracks ever since and im beyond happy i get to share them with the world at this point. //art alfie

appearing out of nowhere in particular in 2017, donald dust s debut ep for no bad days and subsequent fleeting cameos for bordello a parigi and paradise palms introduced the world to his musical sphere: wbmx radio mixes, ron hardy drum tracks, the golden era of italo synths and the rawer fledgling sounds of eurodisco-influenced house circling and overlapping in his productions and dj sets.

holic trax takes a trip to the far east to celebrate the finest in japanese house music culture with a split 12inch from veteran producer takecha (aka takeshi fukushima) and label boss tomoki tamura. takechas productions roll out like reams of silk, peppered with cheery midi horns but not at the expense of the overall deepness of the tracks. kiara to sarara is especially infectious with its sprightly jazzy demeanour. tamura takes a tougher stance on the b side with the techy tones of taiyo mo nai and then hits up a classic house tone for the subdued but focused prhthemic.

two brilliant mysterious edits straight outa new york working maximum dance floor devastation!

spank spank - da e.p. this outstanding release was produced by l.a. williams, roy davis jr. and phuture founder earl smith jr. who died too young in 2016.

the third release on the sister label, new york trax imports, comes from the legendary dutch producer and founder of one of the most eclectic underground record labels, vincent koreman aka drvg cvltvre of new york haunted. since 2009, drvg cvltvre has been working on his own blend of dystopian acid, no wave, and experimental house. respected in the international underground for his groundbreaking work in experimental techno as ra-x in the 90&#8242,,s on labels like bunker and kk records, drvg cvltvre comes from a diy punk background and opts for hard work rather than hollow pose. the 4-track ep for new york trax imports is an accurate representation of his style: dark and melancholic, but also uncompromisingly intense.

delsins reissue arm once again looks to the revered back catalogue of lost trax for a second 12 that picks out the best of the anonymous collectives work. the ep features five cuts taken from two highly sought after eps released on tabernacle records in 2011 and 2012. the eye opens things up with punchy drum programming and the sort of sci-fi effects and synths that immediately take you to a future intergalactic world. its a weighty but emotional opener, while pulp is more twisted and urgent, with warped synth sounds and busy, bristling drums and perc all building pressure throughout. the forest resets the mood with mystic synths and mysterious atmospheres that mix ambient beauty with suggestive skeletal beats. b01 then canes through the cosmos on a detroit electro tip with slithers of synth, swollen pads and crisp hits and dominion rounds things out in hurried fashion. the restless electro drums pound away as prickly snares and cymbals, blurts of machine noise and sweeping pads all wrestle for attention and keep you on your toes. this is high octane electro and techno designed with metallic precision but oozing plenty of human feelings.

the new label instereo recordings comes courtesy of dj dan, a us heavyweight who has been in the game since the 90s. while instereo has existed in digital form for some time, this new incarnation of the label brings dans full-fat sound to vinyl, and it kicks off in style with an instantly recognisable, purple tinted edit of a perennial dancefloor funk classic entitled squissh. this is an unreservedly big room record, as in your area also ably demonstrates with its immaculately produced hooks and punchy rhythm section. dan teams up with ido on that sound, whipping up a disco-funk influenced frenzy, and then he tackles scotty boy s silky smooth hey mr dj and turns it into a peak time belter.

after more than 10 years of making music it finally time for legendary stockholmian mans glaesers solo debut. in his baggage youll find everything from the 2012 album with stay gold that included the hits backseat (the most played track on swedish radio the year of the release) and wallpaper that was topping charts around europe to feautures on karlovak and velvet pony with label head art alfie to tours around the world with savage skulls. hes also involved with of the meds, a swedish house group with a couple of eps out and more music coming up on studio barnhus. this includes three varied tracks. first out is the french filter house burner velvet tony. followed by the suave swing of angelina and rounded with the organic headiness of o.0.o.

dutch pioneer mg (aka gert van veen) is responsible for a series of huge house classics to ever emerge from the netherlands: a-men s pay the piper, quazar s seven stars, house of venus dish & tell. the list is long. under his lesser known moniker zodiac trax, gert produced some of his moodiest material. released in 1992 in two parts, these beautifully crafted tracks remained fairly unknown up to this day. for this re-issue frame of mind selected the deepest tunes from the obscure series. a previously unreleased track called planet x is included!

released on trax in the golden year of 1989 chicago s virgo aka friends eric lewis and merwyn sanders, along with peers such as larry heard and frankie knuckles, gently pushed house music towards a more musically sophisticated realm that hadn t been explored previously. across 8 tracks virgo took us on a deep exploration of sound that was both masterfully arranged and produced and in direct contrast to a lot of the rudimental and jacking drum tracks that were the flavour of the day. there are few debut albums in the electronic sphere that can claim the title of classic , but this is surely one of them. a defining turning point in dance music, the dawn of what would later be referred to as the deep house movement and sound is all evident with the grooves of this legendary record. often listed as one of the greatest lp s of all time , this self-titled odyssey remains an essential, must have record that never loses it s magic, flawless in every way and still trailblazing today. every home should have one. remastered in conjunction with trax, repressed from the finest audio sources available. often imitated, never replicated! 100% legit.

next up to bat on art alfies velvet pony is stockholm talent and karlovak alumni cj scott and he hits way out of the park. the ep includes the highly anticipated track peaktimekatten already featured on baba stiltz resident advisor mix along with two more housebombs both bearing cjs signature touch of speed and urgency stretched out over the full length capacity of a records side. his previous release on karlovak gained huge support from the likes of martinez brothers and cassy.

the raw jacking sexiness of ghetto house has always played a big role in the killekill universe. so its high time to put out our first release which goes that direction. italian andrew soul is an artist we have been watching for a while already. when he sent the demo with the extremely raw and dirty tunes that you find on the a-side of this 12inch, the decision was easy: killer stuff which makes you bounce immediately we want to put this out! the b-side comes from dirtbox, who is also one half of snuff crew and therefore has been part of the killekill family for a while already. actually almost from the start. being the musical wizard he is, he can not only make house and acid music and anything else you could think of, but also class a ghetto house. maybe even more classic than andrew souls side but ranging from the percussive style of smmfd and work that to the raw energy of fukk it is definitely in no way less original. shake dat ass!
