1lp in a gatefold sleeve with matt finishing, cd included camilles second studio album including la jeune fille aux cheveux blancs and ta douleur. since 2016, rémy poncet aka chevalrex sits among the top new french songwriters to watch thanks to futurism (vietnam, 2016), an intimate sophomore album critically acclaimed by the press and on which he plays all the instruments. wondering how one finds his/her place in today’s world while staying true to him/herself, chevalrex offers his answers in this third album and leaves behind his minimalist compositions to raise his ambitions and push his music into a whole other dimension. recorded this time with additional musicians and even a whole string orchestra, anti slogan compiles ten songs meticulously crafted in which the worlds of jim o’rourke, vincent delerme, tindersticks and boris vian collides, showcasing a level of refinement hardly ever heard in the french pop scene.

placed under the media spotlights in 2011 thanks to their joyful and loony indie pop, concrete knives went on to sign with the legendary uk imprint bella union (beach house, fleet foxes, lift to experience, etc.). their first album be your own king was successfully released the following year, selling more than 7000 copies in france alone and sending the group of friends on the road to play more than 150 live dates all over europe. quiet for the past six years and after recording with danish producer andreas pallisgaard (trentemøller, goat, pinkunoizu), the band is set to return with a much awaited second effort on the french label vietnam (h-burns, chevalrex pharaon de winter).

love will remember pharaon de winter, it says at the very end of this record. pharaon de winter was a relatively unsuccessful painter from northern france. today its the name of a band, but also the name of the song that changed its authors life. the ex-leader of the bands toy fight and (please) dont blame mexico - the eps first aid and michel foucault, and the album concorde, in 2011, with the hit song the protocol - maxime chamouxs musical style could be placed somewhere between north-american rock, spoon, neutral milk hotel, and prefab spout and xtcs sophisticated brit-pop.

for many years, o, aka olivier marguerit has been considered as the best sideman of the french indie pop. permanent member of syd matters, he is the one with a complete background that always has been used to hightlighting and boosting the others. until one day he decided to to care for his ownself. after 2 albums confidentially released, known as o (ohm part 1 & 2), his first lp will come out 12th january. of course, it is about a brilliant and erudite form of pop. the album will be supported from december with many live dates, including the transmusicales of rennes, and the printemps de bourges afterwards.

manchester original sameed comes through on gamm with two tasty noodle nuggets based on his food experiences from vietnam where he currently resides. his simple yet effective approach is best described as sample-friendly underground dance music with influences of disco, soul and jazz. on his gamm debut the first noodle dish comes with a heavy disco and jazz-funk feel (bun) that together with some gritty vocals gives us a peak time jam to die for. for desert, sameed delivers chao which is way darker and chops up some deep jazz samples with some 4/4 rhythms. again, simple but oh so effective

what started as an idea 5 years ago now becomes reality with the release of saigon supersound vol.1, compiled by jan hagenkötter. a compilation about the story of a musical era in vietnam that was almost lost, made of tracks from 1965 to 1975, the so-called golden music period in the south of vietnam, where under difficult circumstances – a lively pop culture had developed. this period is characterized by the fusion of vietnamese music with western pop music. the compilation includes some tunes reissued for the very first time since they ve been released originally.

originally released in 1983 on the famous cam records for the obscure vietnam movie tornado (antoni margheriti), this highly sought-after soundtrack finally gets the official re-issue treatment it deserves! a very diverse lp with productions that range from classic soundtrack and horror to italo disco and pop... and even a featuring of the late toots thielemans. limited pressing!

the 1978 record, which goes for up to $800 on the collectors market, comes with a lore all its own. the liner notes explain that at the time of its recording, davis was suffering from personal turmoil and a head full of memories from the vietnam war. the infamous jonestown, guyana mass murder occurred two days before the recording session and weighed heavily on his consciousness. the resulting electronic score would garner attention from legendary motor city dj electrifying mojo. in the early 80s, davis performed as 3070 in cybotron alongside juan atkins, laying the groundwork for detroit techno and electro with cuts like alleys of your mind. despite successful cybotron albums released on fantasy records, davis spent time penniless and abandoned in a v.a. hospital. the new 12inch version of methane sea was cut to lacquer straight from the original master tapes. davis currently lives in ypsilanti, michigan and works with music videos, fractal designs and cgi.
