after 2014 s brilliant hoshi lp, hell yeah recordings is delighted to announce a second album from italians tempelhof and acclaimed countryman and composer gigi masin. entitled tsuki and due for release late april, it features nine tracks of exquisitely designed modern ambient with a blissful tinge of the beach, sun and sea. tempelhof is musicians luciano ermondi and paolo mazzacani, a pair who have put out three great albums and many magical eps since 2009. they are expert craftsmen who are skilled musicians with a rare grasp of melody, rhythm and timbre. once again here their work with gigi masin—who was picked as one of the best artists of 2015 by many outlets, and who enjoyed lots of love for his re-issued wind album, amongst others—is soothing, stunning and serene

since so many european labels have been reissuing lost and obscure 1980s japanese ambient albums of late, it was probably inevitable that at least one label would put together a compilation paying tribute to the sound. it turns out that jazzy couscous has won the race with kumo no moko, a superb double album that does a terrific job in putting japan s 80s ambient scene in context. as you d expect, the majority of the tracks feature either dreamy electronic sounds or a mixture of acoustic and electronic instrumentation, with nods to jazz coming thick and fast. there are naturally a couple of fairly well-known names on show, but for the most part the compilers have done a terrific job in highlight lesser-known tracks from unsung heroes.

just in time to warm up your winter, hell yeah revisit the peerless recent tsuki album from ambient and balearic masters tempelhof & gigi masin. two tracks from the album are included on this new package, as well as a remix from jex opolis. trancendental and dreamy drums characterise the new age corner song, which is the sound of laying back on a boat and bobbing up and down on gentle seas at sunrise. its organic and soothing to the max. the other original is flying man, a suspensory film that feels like floating amongst the clouds on a humid afternoon. wordless vocals add a heavenly feel to the lush and all encompassing chords and pads and nothing sounds sweeter than being lost in this one. it is corner song that gets remixed by good timin and running back man jex opolis. famous for his disco infused synth pop sound he is a master of his own musical world. his version is eight minutes of laid-back tropicalia. slowly churning drums and knotted funk-bass prop it up as an eco-system of pops, clicks and hits add to the steamy and sensuous groove. it s grown up disco for cocktails on the terrace and will have you hugging anyone in earshot. support by calm, lexx, leo mas, apiento, zambon, max essa, kito jempere, buena onda djs, balearic gabba sound system.

während roberts musikalische handschrift stets erkennbar bleibt, ist *hypermoment* eine stilistische weiterentwicklung seines sounds. mit seinen warmen, analogen klängen, seinen fields-recordings, den satten klangwelten und üppigen pianos, erlaubt dieses album noch mehr einsicht in sein innerstes, während es gleichzeitig die erste veröffentlichung ist, auf der roberts auch selbst singt (care, serenade, fernwood). die field-recordings nahm robert auf trips nach new york, berlin oder joshua tree in kalifornien auf, ebenso wie in seiner neuen heimat in silver lake, l.a., wo er unablässich an seinem album feilte. *hypermoment* featured einige alte bekannte, wie den in l.a. ansässigen künstler schwarzmodul, der auch auf *tsuki* zu hören ist, ebenso wie delhia de france, die auf roberts kürzlich erschienener *california dreaming* kollaboration zu hören ist. aber es sind auch einige künstler vertreten, wie z.b. uks fassine, mree aus new york oder stephen henderson aus kalifornien. *hypermoment* ist roberts bisher persönlichstes album.
