augmented third. our third ep introduces the ordinary subject - title of the latest project of alexander siegel and christian scheel. infected by creating sound - generated sensory input – they are both enthused by the same. following this idea, the ordinary is certainly not able to enhance a current perception of reality, but the augmented, however, can. the ordinary subject truly live music in an irrational way and aren t it different views that can complete a perception? to get an impression of what we try to say, tune your ears and listen.

featuring the title track from las kj gibbs (i.e. apendics shuffle) and remixes from berlins dilo and berkeleys j. tonnissen (i.e. davros, praxis), this release is a full-on hypnotic sensory exploit into mind twisting late night techno. kj gibbs delivers a shuffled up head-spinning funk jam laden with precise hits, live acoustic samples and heavily modulated effect work. taking a slightly deeper approach, dilo offers up a much more subtle journey through deep hazy loopy drum bits, morphed vocal hauntings and a progressive yet solid drive. completing the mix, label boss j. tonnissen kicks it up a notch with a monster low-end bassline, menacing analog synth loops, clever vocal edits and huge floor power.

wagon repair are excited to announce the latest ep from berlin based canadian mike shannon. the re-nag ep, his third wagon repair release and first production of 2009, is the latest in a long line of releases from the head of cynosure records, with his work having previously graced imprints from ~scape and num to richie hawtin’s plus 8 records. opener ‘darkstar 3000&#8242,, is a futurist techno stomp. engined by poked melodic tones and a prominent metallic hat, dissonant stealth melodies manoeuvre around percussion and punched bass. biding time to prolong suspense, both bass and key melodic journeys coordinate to climax in a tightly executed sensory assault. ‘sweets (tla mix)’ opens energetically with static percussive tones circling around a pummeling kick. a rapturous vocal takes lead, effervescing within a wind tunnel of wobbly bass melodies and dizzy pads to close. ‘sweets (acapella)’ is an abstract entity, with it’s sole vocal discernibly haunting in the absence of beats and structure. full of texture and space, this is one for the producers that will surely not go to waste.

with recent releases on emergence and token, grovskopa debuts for labrynth and hits the floor hard with treacher collins . re-processed percussion and rolling low end seem to cause sensory overload at every turn. the perfect floor tool. aa/ balamber sees grovskopa maintain the industrial focus, but heads further into darkness and despair. driving forwards relentlessly, a rolling sea of bass and mechanical abrasive tones force us to move and dance! b/ trademark michaelangelo sounds here on the 4/4, reminiscent of some of the mid 90 s synewave recs releases. sirius carves into an immense sonic landscape. chaotic and crackling high frequencies modulate and break up over our heads, while monotone subs meander and bounce with the kick. big room techno. big sound. quality. bb/ massive offbeat techno from telesthesia, a collaboration between michaelangelo & coefficient. complex rhythms continually weave throughout the track. the journey deconstructs and falls into darkness, re-emerging again into precision synths and digital modulations

transmitting from the heart of the american midwest, skoozbot has rapidly gained a reputation for insightful techno futurism. his main preoccupation focuses on the interaction between humans and technology, especially the ability to capture split second emotions, recreate them using electronic sounds and then play them out over a six minute track, letting them evolve naturally albeit in sometimes unexpected directions. the rising sap contains a selection of tracks written during the transition from winter to spring as life returns to the surface of the planet bringing with it the most vibrant sensory experiences. in a sense these colours, fragrances and forms allow us to transcend time through memories and association and skoozbot is driven to capture these precious fragments and examine them from all angles in the suspended animation that the minimal techno environment so perfectly creates.

the irrepressible cobblestone jazz present the first single from their debut album >23 seconds<, forthcoming in september on wagon repair. cobblestone jazz produce their tracks live, with a strong emphasis on improvisation, and the trio of programmer tyger dhula, keyboardists danuel tate and mathew jonson, make full use of their formative jazz training to transform the musical outfit into a pragmatic and responsive unit, a living and breathing creation, free of formulaic sequence. >lime in da coco nut< is a potion brimming with transformation. cobblestone approach a simple key melody from every angle imaginable, with the harmonies, disharmonies, bubbling accents and rhythmic permutations exposing the otherworldly potential of the simplest of tunes. a sinister whispered vocal conducts affairs, seemingly flustered at its inability to contain the unruly elements in this wonderful experiment. on >saturday night< a deep synth line and ghostly vocoded moans progress through a jungle of percussion and falling echoed tones, steadily approaching a beat that enlivens like water on a desert journey, or rather, like vodka on a saturday night. the dizzy finale spins around your ears, a bit like the ceiling after a particularly heavy weekend adventure… be sure to be well rested before tackling this sensory safari

originally planned as a double lp, the >bootstrapping< project ended up as two separate ep s, sharing the same title. this compilation offers nine tracks that were made by a network of friends who all played a role in the underground of dutch electronic music.
